NBC is going north for its latest comedy project.
The network is developing a single-camera show set in Alaska, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The untitled project comes from creator Blake McCormick (Single Parents) and 20th Century Fox TV, where McCormick has an overall deal.
The show, which currently has a script commitment, would follow a "meek and modest" man from Los Angeles who travels to remote, small-town Alaska to claim a mysterious inheritance after the death of his estranged uncle.

Rush Hour isn’t a total cop out.
Though the pilot for CBS’ adaptation of the Chris Tucker/Jackie Chan comedy is little more than a regurgitation of the film that spawned two sequels, there are indications that The Powers That Be (which include Cougar Town vets Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick) are well aware of what does and does not work about the film 18 years later.

I’m a huge Chris Tucker fan. Always have been.
From his scene-stealing performance in The Fifth Element, to Russell Simmons’ HBO Def Comedy Jam and 1995’s Friday opposite Ice Cube, starring in Money Talks with Charlie Sheen, through to his role in Silver Linings Playbook, Tucker is forever a pleasure to watch and is still one of the funniest comedians.
I was thrilled to read that the actor would be headlining his first full length stand-up comedy special titled “Chris Tucker Live” which had its premiere on Friday, July 10 on Netflix. It is one of the funniest stand-up shows to come along in years.

CBS has ordered a pilot for Rush Hour.
Cougar Town creators Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick have penned an adaptation of the 1998 movie, which originally starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.

Three Rush Hour movies starring Chan and Tucker were released between 1998 and 2007.

Well, CBS did officially pick up the rumored Rush Hour comedy. The popular movie franchise was once a hot item between Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. However, the popularity fell last decade and it looks like CBS hopes to breathe in new life to it. Blake McCormick and Bill Lawrence will be working on it, along with the franchise’s Brett Ratner. No word on casting yet or when they will aim to premier it. Here is what they did release about their concept when the news was confirmed.
A stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer is assigned to a case in Los Angeles where he’s forced to work with a cocky African-American Lapd officer who has no interest in a partner
This will be interesting to see how they will build it. The last movie came out almost 10 years ago and you never really hear anymore about Jackie or Chris.

Director Brett Ratner and producer Arthur Sarkissian have teamed up again to produce a TV series based on the action comedy film franchise Rush Hour. The series is set up at Warner Bros. TV, and it will be an hourlong show on CBS.
The series will be written by Cougar Town co-creator Bill Lawrence and showrunner Blake McCormick. According to Deadline, the Rush Hour series will stay close to the concept of the first film in the franchise. That will include a by-the-book Hong Kong police officer, who was played by Jackie Chan in the movies, who is assigned to a case in Los Angeles, where he’s forced to work with an arrogant Lapd officer — originally played by Chris Tucker — who is not interested in working with a partner.
I'm not really all that interested in seeing anything that Ratner's name is attached too. I haven't been impressed with anything he's done in years.

Not long after it was revealed, the proposed TV series reboot of the "Rush Hour" franchise has landed a pilot production commitment at CBS.
The project marks the second Warner Bros. Television-produced series the network has picked up following a "Supergirl" series commitment last month.
The story follows a brash and outspoken Lapd cop who prefers to work alone being forced to team up with a straight-laced Hong Kong police officer. It is based on the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker-led series of the same name.
"Cougar Town" creator Bill Lawrence is co-writing the "Rush Hour" pilot script with 'Cougar' show runner Blake McCormick.

Rush Hour is coming to CBS. The network has given a pilot production commitment to the television adaptation of the 1998 film, which hails from Cougar Town co-creator Bill Lawrence, Blake McCormick and Warner Bros. Television, EW has learned. Much like the premise of the film, which starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, the drama will follow a stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer who is assigned to a case in Los Angeles and forced to work with a cocky African-American Lapd officer who has no interest in a partner. Lawrence and McCormick will write and executive-produce the one-hour action comedy with original director Brett Ratner,...

Rush Hour is to become a TV series.
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is developing a small-screen adaptation of the film franchise, Deadline reports.
Three Rush Hour movies starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker were released between 1998 and 2007.
The television version - co-written by Lawrence and Cougar Town colleague Blake McCormick - will stick close to the original premise, which saw a by-the-book Hong Kong police officer (played by Chan) teamed with a cocky Us cop (played by Tucker).
Brett Ratner - who directed all three films - will serve as an executive producer on the Rush Hour series, which comes from Warner Bros TV.
A fourth cinematic outing was previously mooted in 2012, with producer Arthur Sarkissian hinting at a "more down to earth, more gritty" new instalment.

With the "Rush Hour" film franchise pretty much over, Warner Bros. TV has decided to try and reinvent it on the small screen with a prime-time TV series reboot in the works.
"Cougar Town" co-creator Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick will pen the series which follows a straight-laced Hong Kong police officer assigned to a case in Los Angeles. He finds himself forced to work with a cocky African-American L.A.P.D. officer who has no interest in having a partner.
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker starred in the original 1998 film and its two subsequent sequels. Brett Ratner, who directed all three films, will serve as executive producer on the show alongside Arthur Sarkissian and Jeff Ingold.

Brett Ratner is set to bring mismatched buddy-cop actioner Rush Hour to the small screen, with Deadline reporting that a deal has been struck with Warner Bros. to create a new TV series. It had previously been rumoured that a fourth entry into the movie series could soon be on the cards, but it seems that Ratner has instead devoted his energies to establishing a series order with Warner’s TV arm. Scrubs and Cougar Town alumnus Bill Lawrence will co-write the new show with Blake McCormick, with the latter also on executive producer...

Warner Bros. TV are bringing back the fish-out-of-water buddy comedy, Rush Hour. Don’t worry, you needn’t waste resources on rolling your eyes. Sure, everyone’s a smidgen cynical about the remake/reboot/adaptation cycle the industry is stuck in. But this new venture holds promise: Bill Lawrence, of Scrubs and Cougar Town fame, is on board to write and produce the show.
Under his Doozer Productions banner, Lawrence will co-write and produce along with Cougar Town showrunner Blake McCormick. As a massive fan of Lawrence’s comedy style, this news isn’t quite as sigh-worthy to me as it first seemed. Original franchise creator, Brett Ratner, and Arthur Sarkissian will also oversee the project as executive producers.
In what’s touted to be a series of hour-length episodes, we can expect the show to remain loyal to the Chris Tucker-Jackie Chan franchise:

Exclusive: In a competitive situation with multiple networks chasing, Fox has landed Chasing Skips, an hourlong action-comedy project from Cougar Town executive producer/showrunner Blake McCormick and the series’ co-creator Bill Lawrence. Written by McCormick, Chasing Skips centers on two down-on-their-luck guys in search of a way to improve their lives who decide to enter the world of bounty hunting, despite having no experience and very few skills. Warner Bros TV and Lawrence’s studio-based Doozer are producing, with McCormick, Lawrence and Jeff Ingold executive producing. Chasing Skips stems from a blind script deal McCormick inked with Warner Bros TV through Doozer in May in conjunction with his appointment as new showrunner of Cougar Town for its upcoming fifth season. The setup is similar to Doozer’s script deal with Jeff Astrof, who took over Lawrence’s other TBS series, Ground Floor, as showrunner. It led to a comedy project,...

As "Cougar Town" prepares to go into production on Season 5, its second season at new home TBS, the wine-soaked sitcom will be under the leadership of a new showrunner.
Deadline reports the Blake McCormick, who's been a writer-producer with the show since 2010, will be taking the reins. He replaces Ric Swartzlander, who ran the show in Season 4, its first with TBS.
Prior to McCormick's work on "Cougar Town," he served as a co-producer on Fox's long-running animated comedy "King of the Hill." On top of his promotion, McCormick has also signed a blind script deal with Warner Bros TV through Doozer, "Cougar Town" co-creator Bill Lawrence's company.
Lawrence left the show after Season 4 to transition into an overall deal of his own with Warner Bros TV, but wound up remaining pretty hands-on throughout Season 4, as he didn't have a show on the air. It's not likely that will continue...

Exclusive: Cougar Town writer-producer Blake McCormick has been elevated to showrunner of the ensemble comedy as it heads into its fifth season and second on TBS. McCormick replaces Ric Swartzlander, who ran Cougar Town last season. Additionally, McCormick has signed a blind script deal with Warner Bros TV through studio-based Doozer, the company of Cougar Town co-creator/executive producer Bill Lawrence. Lawrence exited Cougar Town after Season 3 to segue into his overall deal at Warner Bros TV but ended up being pretty hands-on during Season 4 since he didn’t have a series on the air. That likely won’t be the case next season as he has three pilots in contention for series pickup: Undateable at NBC, I Suck At Girls at Fox and Ground Floor at TBS. McCormick, repped by UTA, Kaplan Perrone and attorney Jared Levine, has been on Cougar Town for the past three seasons, starting out...

Cougar Town Season 4, Episodes 15 & 16 ‘Don’t Fade On Me’/'Have Love Will Travel’

Cougar Town returns for season 5 in 2014
It’s been an interesting season for Cougar Town, one that’s had it’s share of emotional highs (‘Make It Better’) and overly broad comedic lows (last week’s ‘The Criminal Kind‘). Tonight’s two-part season finale falls somewhere in the middle: it’s one of the funnier episodes of the season, but is often too sentimental for its own good, despite having its heart in the right place in the most important moments, when the themes of family and hope are at their strongest.
A lot of tonight’s two episodes – ‘Have Love Will Travel’ in particular – felt like an old version of Cougar Town...

Cougar Town Season 4, Episode 11 ‘Saving Grace’
Directed by Michael McDonald
Written by Blake McCormick
Airs Tuesday nights at 10pm (Et) on TBS
There have been a few episodes this season where Cougar Town‘s reached a bit to create marital drama between the two couples at the heart of the show (although the same would apply to Laurie and Travis at times, as well). ‘Saving Grace’ is definitely one of those episodes, presenting us with a number of story lines and rushing through them for mostly unsatisfying conclusions. When Cougar Town dips into the sappy well it can be hit or miss, as the last few scenes of the episode show.
Things begin in kind of an odd place: Grayson and Jules have a disagreement over faith, a topic I’d rather most comedies just avoided. Both to its benefit and its disadvantage, ‘Saving Grace’ doesn’t really dig into this idea too far.

After crafting the stoner comedy franchise that kicked off with Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, the duo of Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg head over to the American Pie franchise for an American Reunion. Now the writers and directors are back to something original as Variety reports the duo has just sold an untitled comedy spec script to Universal Pictures with "Cougar Town" producer Blake McCormick involved. The two will also produce and direct the film which follows two best friends who, dressed as cops for a party, but are mistaken for real officers and forced to take a dangerous criminal to the police station. Sounds like a literal buddy cop comedy with a twist, and that's just fine with me. Hurwitz and Schlossberg might be known for their stone comedy series, but they write some pretty smart jokes and bring more to the table than dick and fart...
