The show, written by and starring Cole Escola as Mary, will begin previews at the Lyceum Theatre starting June 26, with an opening night on July 11. The engagement runs through Sept. 15.
In Oh Mary!, Mary Todd Lincoln is reimagined as a wannabe cabaret star, filled with yearning for that other life, in the weeks leading up to President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The show also stars Conrad Ricamora as Mary’s Husband, otherwise known as Abraham Lincoln, James Scully as Mary’s Teacher, Bianca Leigh as Mary’s Chaperone, and Tony Macht as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, as well as cast members Hannah Solow and Peter Smith.

Days of Wine and Roses, the critically acclaimed musical adaptation of the 1962 film, will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, March 31, just about two months after its January 28 opening night.
The production becomes the third in recent weeks to announce that it would vacate the Broadway boards just as the industry gears up for one of the busiest springs in memory. Spamalot, which opened last November, announced yesterday that it would close Sunday, April 7, while A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical will play its final performance on Sunday, June 30; the production opened December 4, 2022.
All three of the soon-to-close shows have been struggling at the box office in recent weeks. Last week, Days of Wine and Roses, with a book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel, grossed just $364,686, filling only 55% of seats at Broadway’s Studio 54.

Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, the longest-running stage play in the world, is transferring to Broadway.
In an announcement Friday marking the show’s 70th anniversary, producers Adam Spiegel and Kevin McCollum revealed plans for a limited engagement of the murder mystery to arrive sometime in 2023. The show originally opened at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal in October 1952 after Christie wrote it, under the name Three Blind Mice, as a short BBC radio play commissioned for Queen Mary and broadcast in 1947.
In a statement, Spiegel celebrated “today’s milestone” and “The Mousetrap’s illustrious run” across the pond. “I feel after the longest out-of-town try-out in history, The Mousetrap is finally ready to transfer to Broadway,” the producer said in a statement.
The play centers on the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor, stranded in a snowstorm after the murder of a local woman.

Agatha Christie’s stage thriller The Mousetrap, a London theater staple for 70 years, is finally ready for Broadway: The murder mystery will unfold at as yet undisclosed Broadway venue sometime in 2023, producers have announced.
The play, a West End institution and popular tourist destination since 1952, has been performed in the U.S. before but never on Broadway or in New York.
Although a new Broadway cast will be assembled for the production, some physical elements of the long-running London staging will make the crossing: In a message on the show’s official website, producers note, “New York audiences will be able to see and hear some of the original sights and sounds from the production as it has appeared in London since 1952. The set will be a loving recreation of Anthony Holland’s design, and for a truly authentic touch, the only surviving piece of the original set — the mantelpiece...

Update, with Girl From The North Country Broadway’s Mrs. Doubtfire will unplug the vacuum cleaner and hang up the apron earlier than expected: The musical, which has been posting middling box office numbers during the industry’s crowded spring season, will end its run at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on May 29, producers announced.

Mrs. Doubtfire will return to Broadway’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Thursday, April 14, a month later than originally planned.
“We needed to see that Omicron was slowing down,” producer Kevin McCollum said in a statement to Deadline. “In the short time we were running before Omicron hit Broadway we saw two major audiences building. Doubtfire is a family show and we know more families come when there are fewer Covid safety protocols and more children can be vaccinated. Doubtfire is [also] a big tourist show and we are seeing indicators that tourism is building.”
Producers announced the new date today. The musical adaptation of the 1993 Robin Williams movie initially was set to reopen on March 14 after going on hiatus in January at the height of the Omicron surge.
Ticketholders for performances from March 15 to April 13 can make exchanges at their point of purchase.

Ballots are in, and the nail-biting portion of Oscar season has begun. Nominations for the 94th Academy Awards will be revealed on Feb. 8.
Another jam-packed phase one offered plenty of twists and turns, along with much speculation and reading of tea leaves. Now, that many of the guilds have weighed in, we’re predicting Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” will lead the way with 10 nominations, while Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog” and Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” are expected to pick up an impressive nine nods each. Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast,” the presumed frontrunner for best picture, is expected to score a healthy seven mentions (or eight if Jamie Dornan can make the cut alongside his co-star Ciarán Hinds).

A tsunami of buzz and Oscar-telling indicators drop on Thursday, with the major guilds announcing award nominations. The Directors Guild of America (DGA), Writers Guild of America (WGA), Producers Guild of America (PGA) and American Cinema Editors (Ace Eddies) all serve as critical barometers for the Academy Awards, especially in the race for best picture.
DGA has averaged four of their five nominees landing in the Oscars’ best director category, including last year with Aaron Sorkin (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”) getting bumped for Thomas Vinterberg (“Another Round”). The first-time directors’ category, with the exception of Jordan Peele for “Get Out” (2017), has gone on to get a nod at the Academy.
The PGA always provides some big blockbusters and Academy flare, which bodes well for either “No Time to Die” or “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” The WGA has a lot of ineligibilities that won’t provide a strong enough indicator for the screenplay categories.

The acclaimed Bob Dylan musical Girl From The North Country will play its final Broadway performance at The Belasco Theatre on Jan. 23, with producers saying they’re in advanced conversations with the Shubert Organization to re-open in the spring after the Omicron surge subsides.
The unusual announcement follows a similar plan confirmed by producers of Mrs. Doubtfire, which closed on Jan. 10 with the intention of returning to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 14.
“Girl From The North Country is an important part of this season,” said Robert E. Wankel, Chairman and CEO of The Shubert Organization, in a statement. “We have always been supportive of this show, and we are excited about bringing it to another theater in the spring.”

Mrs. Doubtfire will be the latest Broadway production to go on hiatus, on Jan. 10, following rising Omicron cases. Producers announced on Sunday that the show is set to return to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 14.
“The first few months of a brand new Broadway show are an extraordinarily delicate and important period of time. With the pervasiveness of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, Mrs. Doubtfire would have to close permanently if the production didn’t take drastic, pro-active measures,” said producer Kevin McCollum in a statement.
“Out of concern for the potential long-term employment of everyone who works on Mrs. Doubtfire, and the extended run of the show, we have decided that following the January 9 performance, the production will close for nine weeks, returning on March 15,” he added.
McCollum is hoping the hiatus will prevent the production from “prematurely ending [its] run on Broadway. He said, “by taking this break,...

Actress Olga Merediz stopped by Deadline’s Contenders: New York on Saturday to talk about reprising her role as Abuela Claudia from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes’ Broadway musical In the Heights for Jon M. Chu’s Warner Bros film of the same name.
The Tony nominee called the film “a joy ride” and noted the different perspective she brought to Claudia’s story, 10 or so years down the line. “When you do a role, usually, you give it your all, finish and say goodbye,” she said onstage at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. “But I had to remember what I did on Broadway and Off Broadway, with the difference that in 10 years, we all as human beings grow every year. So, I gave it more depth and more of the person I had become.”

Last spring, in the early days of Broadway’s Covid-19 pandemic shutdown, news reports and industry chatter referred to an eventual reopening as if a light switch would be flipped and the marquees of all 41 theaters would light up the Midtown night. Actors had left their dressing rooms full of the usual personal stuff — street clothes, photos, charms — as if they’d soon be back from a long holiday weekend.
The optimism was short lived, as the shutdown was extended time and again — April, June, September, January, June again. News got grim, and then more grim. The National Endowment for the Arts recently released figures indicating that while the overall unemployment rate has averaged 8.5 percent, the average among actors was 52 percent.
