In this heartwarming tale of grit and faith, Coach Darrell Royal (Aaron Eckhart) reflects back on Freddie’s journey from being determined underdog – supported at times only by the love of his parents (Robin Tunney and Michael Reilly Burke) and his high school sweetheart (Sarah Bolger) – to a hero both on and off the field.

Nine years ago Jonathan Liebesman directed The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. Now that prequel to the remake is being overwritten by another Texas Chainsaw origin story. Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are behind the cameras this time, and the first poster for Leatherface has just arrived. Reflect on it below.Like Liebesman's film, the new Leatherface is following the hulking killer's early years in the 1970s, although in this case we'll find him in his teens before he dons the mask and picks up the saw. The hook for the plot is Leatherface escaping from a mental institution along with three other inmates, dragging a kidnapped nurse along with them for "the road trip from Hell". Sam Strike, Sam Coleman, James Bloor and Jessica Madsen are the escapees, with Vanessa Grasse the nurse. Stephen Dorff plays the deranged Texas lawman chasing them, and Lili Taylor is Leatherface's mom,...

Stephen Dorff has scored the lead role of Hartman in Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury's "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel film "Leatherface" at Millenniums Films.
The story centers around a violent teen who one day will become Leatherface. He escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell.
Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge. Seth M. Sherwood penned the script while Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman and Carl Mazzocone are producing.

The prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre signs up Johnny Carter from EastEnders: Mr Sam Strike...
Millennium Films announced that ex-EastEnders' star Sam Strike is in talks to star as the young Leatherface in a prequel to the legendary 1974 horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The new film will simply be called Leatherface.
Leatherface will serve up the origin story that follows a teenage Leatherface in the 1970s who "resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities". Leatherface is the second prequel to the franchise after The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
Leatherface will be directed by French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who made the cult film Inside. The screenplay was written by Seth M Sherwood. It'll be produced by Carl Mazzocone with Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman.

Millenium Films has found a new Leatherface. Multiple sources close to the studio’s planned Texas Chainsaw prequel, simply called Leatherface, confirm that EastEnders actor Sam Strike is in negotiations to pick up the iconic mask and chainsaw.
After the studio’s last attempt to revitalize the classic horror franchise, 2013’s Texas Chainsaw 3D, was met with paltry reviews that caused it to sink like a stone at the box office, Leatherface finds Millenium hitting the reset button. The prequel will go back to the 1970s to focus on the early years of Jackson (Strike), the young man who will eventually become a masked killer. Strike’s casting, which comes after an extensive search, is major news – the studio is banking on his performance to endear the franchise to a new generation of horror fans.

Just a couple months ago, we learned that a Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel was on the way called Leatherface. The story was said to take place before the original 1974 classic horror film, following the teenage years of the chainsaw-wielding killer in the 70s with a script from rising writer Seth M. Sherwood. Now Bloody Disgusting has word that Inside, Livid and Among the Living directing duo Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury have been tapped to direct the prequel finding Leatherface as a teenager in a mental institution with other disturbed young people. So how does this lead to the inception of the killer? Well, a group of kids break out of the institution and end up getting into trouble in the outside world, though no specifics are mentioned. It's the events that happen outside of the institution that will lead to the creation of Leatherface's identity. Carl Mazzocone (Texas Chainsaw 3D...

This year’s Blood List has named the 13 best genre scripts around town, and in its sixth year the annual screenplay contest is expanding its scope to include hot books, TV pilots, and young scribes ripe for signing. Taking top honors in 2014 is sci-fi thriller Bird Box from The Thing and Final Destination 5 scribe Eric Heisserer, an apocalyptic tale of a woman trying to lead her children to safety – all three blindfolded – after monsters descend on earth that turn people insane on sight. Universal set Heisserer to adapt the manuscript from Josh Malerman in 2013 for Mama helmer Andy Muschietti. Previous Blood List alumni include Black Swan, Stoker, Warm Bodies, and the upcoming Blumhouse thriller The Boy Next Door.

Shortly after the latest installment of Texas Chainsaw Massacre arrived in theaters in 2013, there were already rumblings about a sequel percolating from Millennium Films. However, the news might have been a bit premature since the holders of the rights to Leatherface and his creepy Sawyer family hadn't yet figured out how to proceed with the franchise. But now it appears plans are coming together for a follow-up, but rather than being a sequel to Texas Chainsaw 3D, the film is called Leatherface and will take place before the original 1974 classic horror film, following the teenage years of the chainsaw-wielding killer in the 70s. The Wrap reports an up-and-coming writer named Seth M. Sherwood will write the origin story of Leatherface with Texas Chainsaw 3D producer Carl Mazzocone back in the same capacity. Sherwood has seen some development activity around Hollywood, including a supernatural thriller set up at Blumhouse Productions that...

In recent years, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise has been through a reboot (2003), a prequel (2006) and its years-later sequel (2013). Now, in its eighth instalment, we’re back in prequel territory because Millennium Films has hired Seth M. Sherwood to write what will be called Leatherface. There was a brief rights dispute early last year just after the latest film slew the competition at the Us box office and triggered excitable announcements about another. But now the producers, including Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman and Carl Mazzocone, are pushing ahead with Millennium’s plan.According to The Wrap, the plot is being kept locked away in a scary, dank basement, but Sherwood has apparently been tasked to write a tale that will follow Leatherface’s early years in the 1970s. You know: the time he considered poetry as a career and developed a fascination with an Etch-a-Sketch before picking up his power tool of choice.

Imagine, if you will, a world where The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation never happened. We won't even mention the remake and its sequel since they're not part of the original canon. The slate of what many consider inadequate follow-ups to the original is wiped completely clean. This scenario is exactly what Texas Chainsaw asks of its audience.
Picking up immediately after the original 1974 film ended, Texas Chainsaw takes audiences back to the Sawyer homestead. Shortly after the police show up to arrest Leatherface (Dan Yeager), an unruly mob decides to take the law into their own hands. They burn down and kill all the family holed up in the house, with the exception of Leatherface and a woman protecting a baby. One of the townspeople kills the woman and takes the baby to raise on their own.

It came as a surprise to many when "Texas Chainsaw 3D" topped the box office last weekend, hauling in $21.7 million and beating out "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," "Django Unchained" and "Les Miserables" in the process. What wasn’t so surprising was the subsequent news that a sequel to the movie was already underway. Well, as it turns out, looks like someone might have spoken a little too soon regarding that information. After there had been reports that Millennium Films were going ahead with another "Texas Chainsaw" film, producer Carl Mazzocone and executive producer Mark Burg are saying “not so fast” to that idea. According to a Deadline report, a new "Texas Chainsaw" film will not move forward until the producers work out all of the creative details with distributor Lionsgate. Naturally, given how successful "Texas Chainsaw 3D" was at the box office this past weekend, it’s...

Just this morning, we reported that after barely beating Django Unchained at the box office, Texas Chainsaw 3D had a sequel in the works. And while that might technically still be true, the filmmakers weren't happy about the announcement of another movie in the continuing saga of Leatherface because they haven't even come up with a story for it yet. Deadline reports that producer Carl Mazzocone and executive producer Mark Burg balked at the quick announcement by Millennium Films since it isn't the studio's decision whether another movie happens or not. It sounds like a sequel will move ahead, but not so hastily. Mazzocone and Burg own the rights to the property, so the decision ultimately lies with them whether or not the franchise will move forward. Here's what Burg told Deadline today: “The rights are controlled by Carl and Main Line Pictures, no matter what Millennium says. Millennium simply...

Robopocalypse isn't the only big Hollywood movie that's having the brakes put on. Just a little while after revealing that the next Steven Spielberg sci-fi action blockbuster won't happen this year, Deadline is reporting that the proposed sequel to Texas Chainsaw 3D - which was "announced" just yesterday - may not actually happen. While the site had learned from producer Avi Lerner that the project was a go, apparently "the green light wasn.t Avi.s to give" and the truth is that no progress has yet been made on a follow-up. Apparently the issue is that Lerner was speaking on behalf of Millennium Films, but the fact of the matter is that the company doesn't actually own the rights to the franchise. Instead, they belong to producer Carl Mazzocone and Main Line Pictures. Executive Producer Mark Burg told the site, ".Millennium simply sold the foreign rights and they will...

Exclusive: What could Avi have been thinking? Last night, after a long day and fueled by quotes from Millennium Films chief Avi Lerner, I broke a story that another Texas Chainsaw Massacre film would move forward later this year in Louisiana. I learned today from the rights holders, producer Carl Mazzocone and executive producer Mark Burg, that the green light wasn’t Avi’s to give and they were surprised because no progress on this sequel has yet been made. After the seventh film in the splatter series surprised everyone by beating films like The Hobbit, Django Unchained and Les Miserables to win the weekend box office with a $21.7 million gross, you know a sequel is inevitable. But according to Mazzocone, its timing is his to dictate, and he and Burg say nothing will happen until they work out the creative beats with domestic distributor Lionsgate. “The rights are controlled...

**Updated: Producers claim announcement was premature on Millennium’s part. Continue reading for more details…** As we reported earlier, Texas Chainsaw 3D had a big opening weekend at the box office and a sequel seemed likely. We thought it might take some time before another movie was announced, but a new report reveals that Millennium Films is moving ahead with sequel plans right away.
According to Deadline, Texas Chainsaw 3D producer Carl Mazzocone will be spearheading the project once again with executive producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell. There are no details on what the story will be, but it’s likely to follow up on the events from Texas Chainsaw 3D, as the ending left the story wide open for sequel. New Texas Chainsaw 3D movie sequel already in the works, filming starts in 2013. According to a new report from Collider and their sources, the new Texas Chainsaw 3D movie was such a success for Millennium Films that they have already green lit a sequel for it,and have ordered them to start production on it later this year 2013,so they aren't wasting anytime. Apparently, the flick swept the box office this past weekend, taking in $23 million dollars. It overtook top films: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Django Unchained to take the number one spot. Producer Carl Mazzocone and executive producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman, and Christa Campbell will all return. I hope they bring back that sexy lead actress Alexandra Daddario, which I'm sure they probably will as her character was last seen, taking care of her cousin Leatherface.

After the surprising success at the box office for Texas Chainsaw 3D, a film that grossed $21.7 million in its opening weekend, pushing The Hobbit from the top, it’s no surprise that Millennium Films have announced plans for a sequel. That would be Texas Chainsaw 4, which hardly makes sense considering there have been eight Chainsaw films and the new continuity established would only be reaching 3.
Here are all the big wigs behind the film: producer Carl Mazzocone, exec producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman, and Christa Campbell.
Production is set to begin later this year. The current film, Texas Chainsaw 3D, is still in theaters, and stars Alexandria Daddario, Tania Raymonde, Gunnar Hansen, and Trey Songz.

Production will begin this year in Louisiana and will include producer Carl Mazzocone, as well as exec producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell.
No word on a writer or director as of yet, if it will be in 3D, or if Dan Yeager will return. Also, the title is a little confusing. Why Texas Chainsaw 4? Wouldn’t that mean they skipped an installment in this franchise?

If you follow box office tallies youre likely well aware that January is practically a death sentence for genre pictures. Horror often stumbles on the big screen and rather than attempting to align prime release dates studios often dump horror flicks on the masses during one of the years worst months for big screen reception. So it is not surprising that Millennium Entertainment has officially announced that a sequel to Texas Chainsaw 3D will be released and will officially start filming in Louisiana this summer. The current title of the film is Texas Chainsaw 4 Im guessing because it will be the 4th entry in the rebook franchise. The other day, it was reported that Lionsgate will be moving ahead with a sequel to its surprise box office hit Texas Chainsaw 3D, which opened this past weekend. While that isn't surprising, considering that the studio bought the rights to make seven Texas Chainsaw movies, Leatherface's big screen future would've been uncertain if his latest outing wasn't very successful. Now, after its $21.7M opening weekend, Deadline confirms that Millenium Films is giving the go ahead to the next film, tentatively titled Texas Chainsaw 4. The company are already laying down plans for a sequel to revive the franchise even further than just this year's John Luessenhop helmed hit. The next sequel is currently titled as 'Texas Chainsaw 4' which doesn't make much sense in spite of all the past sequels and remakes. So its unclear at this stage just where the action will fit between amongst the franchise. In an announcement that surprised no one given Texas Chainsaw 3D's number one spot at the box office last weekend, Millennium Films is moving ahead with Texas Chainsaw 4, and production will begin later this year in Louisiana.
Per Deadline, the next installment will be spearheaded by producer Carl Mazzocone, executive producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman, and Christa Campbell. Considering TC3D took in a surprisingly high $21.7 million gross and a per screen average of $8,193 on 2,654 screens, Millennium is smart to strike while the iron is hot.

This past weekend Texas Chainsaw 3D pulled off something nobody saw coming. With a take of $21.7 million the film managed to dethrone The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey from the top of the box office charts to become the number one film in America. It was a disappointing turn of events due to the fact that the movie was critically reviled, but the situation actually gets worse: the success has already inspired development of a sequel. Deadline has learned that Millennium Films has already begun work on a sequel to Texas Chainsaw 3D, which, for some mysterious and completely illogical reason, is now being referred to as Texas Chainsaw 4. Given last weekend's extraordinary news that Texas Chainsaw 3D had scared off competition from Django Unchained and The Hobbit to take the top spot at the Us box office, it was probably inevitable that the newly revivified slasher series would return. To nobody's great surprise, Millennium has now announced that Texas Chainsaw 4 is happening with immediate effect. There are no specific details so far, other than a long list of producers and executive producers that includes Carl Mazzocone, Avi Lerner and original Chainsaw director Tobe Hooper. Let's consider that title though. It's perplexing, and we can only assume that it's a place-holder. On first glance it doesn't seem remarkable that Texas Chainsaw 4 should follow Texas Chainsaw 3D... except that 3D isn't a third instalment. The only way it really makes sense is if we're taking Marcus Nispel's 2003 remake as the starting point; the next film would then be the fourth,...

Following a strong opening weekend for Texas Chainsaw 3D , Millennium Films has made plans to develop another sequel, Texas Chainsaw 4 . Deadline says the project will shoot later this year in Louisiana. Texas Chainsaw 3D , which hit theaters January 4, continues the story of Tobe Hooper's 1974 original. Directed by John Luessenhop, the film has already grossed more than $22 million. The title Texas Chainsaw 4 is a bit perplexing, however, as the project would represent the eighth film in the overall franchise and, theoretically, only the third film to follow the "continuity" of Texas Chainsaw 3D . Carl Mazzocone will produce with Hooper, Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell executive producing.

Carl Mazzocone, the producer of the new horror remake/sequel "Texas Chainsaw 3D" (yes, the word "Massacre" isn't even part of the title – more on that in a minute), a former executive who oversaw the lucrative "Saw" series, has made it a point of saying how this is a true follow-up to Tobe Hooper's watershed original (1974's "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre"). The first part of a proposed six-film franchise (yes, seriously), Mazzocone and his confederates have also chosen to bypass every entry in the series since the original, including Hooper's own, highly underrated sequel, two additional films (one by original co-writer Kim Henkel), and a pair of glossy remakes produced by that king of the understatement, Michael Bay. But what makes "Texas Chainsaw 3D" so striking is that for a movie with such clear reverence for the original, it fundamentally misunderstands (or simply ignores) what made the first film such a.
