“Code 8” is a movie directed by Jeff Chan, and written by Chris Paré. It stars Stephen Amell, Robbie Amell and Kari Matchett.
This film successfully combines the genres of robbers and superheroes, creating a captivating story with a good dystopian idea. Despite not having a huge budget, it manages to meet all expectations and goals. The combination and dystopian concept make it an interesting watch.
Code 8 Plot
In a world where superpowers are hunted down, a young boy with abilities gets involved in shady deals to save his mother’s life. She needs a medical intervention.
About the Film
The idea and execution of this movie are impressive, creating an entertaining thriller without relying too much on special effects. It features a good-looking young lead, appealing to the younger audience, and a well-crafted script that avoids catastrophic outcomes while still being a superhero film. And all this is done without a large budget.

This article contains spoilers for Fargo season 5 episode 7 “Linda.”
FX’s Fargo is not shy about indulging one-off sojourns into the realm of the fantastical. The show’s second season featured a UFO deus ex machina while season 3 took time out for a trip to a celestial bowling alley that might be the afterlife or at least the soundstage for The Big Lebowski.
Fargo‘s latest dip into the dreamworld, however, is one of its most impressive yet. Fargo season 5 episode 7 “Linda” finds our hero Dorothy “Dot” Lyon (Juno Temple) visiting the mysterious Camp Utopia to find her abusive ex-husband Roy Tillman’s (Jon Hamm) first wife Linda (Kari Matchett). In the process she stumbles into a whole bunch of other Lindas (who greet with one another with a cheerful “Hi Linda” like in Barbie) … and some puppets.
At first glance, the proceedings come across as reality – albeit a strange reality.

Spoilers for "The Night Agent" follow.
"The Night Agent" proved to be a success for Netflix, so it's no surprise the platform has renewed the political thriller for a second season. Adapted from a novel by Matthew Quirk, "The Night Agent" follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso). He works in the White House's basement, and every shift, he sits next to a phone, waiting for calls from "Night Action" agents in case of an emergency. Peter's first call comes from Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), a niece of two Night Action agents. Rose narrowly escaped a home invasion that claimed her aunt and uncle's lives; she and Peter get thrown into a conspiracy that goes up to the Oval Office.
Quirk's novel was a standalone story, but the series had a more open ending — the creators were aware more seasons were on the table. After preventing the assassination of President...

Essentially a humbler, grungier indie “X-Men” without the same dependence on splashy effects, “Code 8” is a solid genre effort from director Jeff Chan. Spun off from his prior short of the same name, the crowdfunded effort is resourceful and polished on a tight budget. Its fast-paced progress has enough appeal to suggest a possible franchise, even if this potential kickoff is held back from becoming something more memorable by the general familiarity of the story and character concepts. Starring cousins Robbie and Stephen Amell (both best known for their respective CW series “The Flash” and “Arrow”), the Canadian sci-fi action film opened Dec. 6 on a single Los Angeles screen, expanding to other U.S. cities as well as streaming on Dec. 13.

Covert Affairs’ Kari Matchett and True Blood’s Stephen Moyer are to star in Canadian spy drama Fortunate Son. The series, which is set in the social and political chaos of the late 1960s, is produced by NBCUniversal-backed Lark Productions and Wynonna Earp producer Seven24Films for CBC.

'Maudie' directed by Aisling Walsh and starring Sally Hawkins, Ethan Hawke,Kari Matchett, Zachary Bennett, Gabrielle Rose and Greg Malone.
Based on a true story, is an unlikely romance in which the reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) hires a fragile yet determined woman named Maudie (Sally Hawkins) to be his housekeeper. Maudie, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. Unexpectedly, Everett finds himself falling in love. 'Maudie' charts Everett's efforts to protect himself from being hurt, Maudie's deep and abiding love for this difficult man and her surprising rise to fame as a folk painter.
'Maudie' opens in Ireland and the UK on August 4th.

Sally Hawkins gives a winning performance as Canadian folk artist Maud Lewis in the biopic Maudie. Despite suffering from crippling arthritis since childhood, Maud is determined to paint and live life on her own terms, in director Aisling Walsh’s inspiring but frank portrait of a self-taught artist in rural Nova Scotia. Against all expectations, Maud captures the attention of the art world, and achieves fame for her appealing colorful art. The remarkable story is fascinating but much of the film’s appeal comes from Sally Hawkins’ delightful performance as the woman artist who overcame so many obstacles.

Maudie director Aisling Walsh on Maud Lewis: "She found her freedom in painting." Photo: Anne-Katrin Titze
In my conversation with Aisling Walsh in New York, we discussed Everett (Ethan Hawke) and Maud Lewis's (Sally Hawkins) house in Maudie, her paintings, being stuck in the Thirties, Kari Matchett as a Katharine Hepburn sounding, Peggy Guggenheim-like character named Sandra, transcending time, and what it means to be labeled a Folk Artist.
The small hovel without running water or electricity (that stands now in a museum in Halifax, Nova Scotia) was Everett and Maud Lewis's home their entire life together. Without having to rely on sentimental escapism, one could say that these "odd socks" make more sense as a couple than much of what is presented as becoming a relationship in most mainstream Hollywood fare.

It's there she begins to hone her painting skills, despite barely being able to move her hands, becoming beloved in the community for her positivity and innate talent. The film also tells a love story between Maudie and Everett Lewis, played by Ethan Hawke, a man who is not that easy to love. The cast includes Kari Matchett, Gabrielle Rose, Zachary Bennett, and Billy MacLellan. I caught this film at last year's Telluride Film Festival, and it's a charming, uplifting story of one...

After screening in Telluride and Toronto last fall, “Maudie” is finally ready to tell the masses about the life of Canadian artist Maud Lewis. Sally Hawkins stars in the biopic, which was directed by Aisling Walsh, who previously helmed a BBC miniseries adaptation of Sarah Waters’ “Fingersmith” (which also served as the inspiration for Park Chan-wook’s “The Handmaiden”). Watch the trailer below.

The film takes place in Nova Scotia circa the 1930s and finds the desperate artist taking a job working for a fish peddler played by Ethan Hawke. Lewis, one of her country’s most highly regarded folk artists, specialized in small paintings depicting outdoor settings; the small size of her canvases had to do with Lewis’ rheumatoid arthritis.

We have our first cancellation of 2015, and unfortunately for fans of Covert Affairs, it’s not good news. USA Network has decided to cancel the spy series, starring Piper Perabo, after five seasons. Covert Affairs followed the story of Perabo’s Annie Walker, a CIA trainee sent to work for the Domestic Protection Division (Dpd) as a field agent. Throughout Covert Affairs‘ five seasons, Annie did her best to keep her cover intact and worked with blind tech operative Auggie Anderson (Christopher Gorham). In addition to Perabo and Gorham, the series also starred Kari Matchett, Anne Dudek, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nic Bishop at different points during its five seasons. USA cited Covert Affairs’ low ratings for why it decided to cancel the series, which premiered on the network in 2010. With both White Collar and Covert Affairs gone, Suits is now USA Network’s veteran series. The...

Spoiler alert: The Covert Affairs season 5 finale, "Gold Soundz," brought about big changes for Annie (Piper Perabo) and Auggie (Chris Gorham). After almost being killed, again, the latter decided he wants to leave the agency and travel the world with Natasha (Liane Balaban). If/when the show gets an order for a sixth season, would Auggie be in it? "Oh, he'll be in it," co-creator Matt Corman assures us. "It's a slightly different dynamic for him at the outset. While Covert Affairs fans await word on whether USA will renew the globe-trotting drama, the intense fifth season comes to a close Thursday as Annie (Piper Perabo) and McQuaid (Nic Bishop) try to get villain-turned-potential asset Belenko (Shawn Doyle) out of Argentina. "It's a classic Covert Affairs episode in that there's high stakes, we're abroad, they're operating without a net, and they're up against a tremendously savvy adversary," co-creator Matt Corman says, referring to the Russian Vega assassins who want Belenko dead. As co-creator Chris Ord explains, "If anything, the bar is higher than last season when Annie's goal was to kill Henry.

Covert Affairs’ tense summer run climaxes tonight as we finally reach that flash-forward moment that began the season: Annie (Piper Perabo) and Calder (Hill Harper) pulling their guns on one another and firing. We now know she’s in Germany trying to figure out who Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin) was meeting with on his layover to Copenhagen, where he committed an act of terrorism that he blamed on Teo (Manolo Cardona). The upcoming "Covert Affairs" episode, "I've Been Waiting for You," brings changes to the CIA and those on its fringes. Get a sneak peek at what those changes might be in this exclusive video from the episode.
In the video, Calder (Hill Harper) confronts Joan (Kari Matchett) about Annie's association with Teo (Manolo Cardona). He is -- understandably -- a little concerned that Annie (Piper Perabo) is meeting with dangerous terrorists and then not mentioning it to the CIA. While we in the audience know there's more to it than that, it is totally fair that Calder has issues.
What was Annie doing with Teo this time? In the episode, she wants to get the agent/pseudo-terrorist to turn on one of his own people -- the idea is that this will finally be able to bring down Henry Wilcox. Joan and Calder, meanwhile, clash some more and Auggie (Christopher Gorham...

Things are getting tough for Annie on "Covert Affairs." After all, the death of Henry Wilcox's mole has been discovered and the race is on to make sure that the show's hero doesn't go to jail for murder.
That could be tricky, now that the FBI is investigating Seth Newman's death. These five clues about "Space (I Believe In") show just how tricky everything is.
Warning: Minor "Covert Affairs" spoilers lie ahead. Proceed with caution.
In the episode, Annie (Piper Perabo) has to infiltrate the FBI investigation herself if she wants to keep the truth hidden. Her efforts might be somewhat complicated, however, when Henry (Gregory Itzin) offers Annie the opportunity of a lifetime. The result of all of this is tension -- lots of racing-against-the-clock, high-drama tension. It's excellent.
