"Will Batman allow her to continue bearing his symbol after everything she has done?..."
'Batwoman' is a wealthy heiress who becomes inspired by 'Batman' and chooses, like him, to put her wealth and resources towards a war on crime as a masked vigilante in her home of 'Gotham City'.
The identity of Batwoman is shared by two heroines in mainstream DC publications; both women are named 'Katherine Kane', with the original Batwoman commonly referred to by her nickname 'Kathy' and the modern incarnation going by the name 'Kate'.

Detective Comics #958 marks the beginning of the new arc, “Intelligence,” and what a start it is. While “League of Shadows” might’ve left an overall meh feeling, this new Azrael-centric storyline looks anything but boring. Yes, you read that right. This one is all about Jean-Paul Valley. Can we get a round of applause, please?
As Jean-Paul gets used to Gotham City and enjoys a basketball game with Luke Fox and Kate Kane, an old friend from the Order of St. Dumas, Nomoz, pitches up on the court, injured and bleeding all over the place. The members of the Bat Family act quickly and take him back to the Belfry for treatment, where he reveals to them that there’s a new Azrael called Ascalon. Also, we find out more about Jean-Paul’s secret past, which surprises mostly Kate.
Simultaneously, Bruce Wayne heads out to...

Whether it be in film, animation, comics or gaming, one recurring theme in superhero stories that never seems to die is that of those who don stylized costumes and selflessly defend everyday citizens often get the feeling that they’ve failed to protect everyone. This especially holds true for Batman, who has had to live with the guilt of Jason Todd’s death, the paralysis of Barbara Gordon and other various tragic events.
So, if weighty, contemplative stories starring the Dark Knight are your thing, well, then you should probably give the latest volume of Detective Comics a closer look. In The Victim Syndicate, Batman and his troops – Batwoman, Spoiler, Orphan, Batwing and Clayface – must not only deal with the aforementioned theme, but also those who’ve been caught in the crossfire,...

In the past week, there’s been much discussion surrounding Batman titles and understandably so. With major story arcs wrapping up in the near future and “The War of Jokes and Riddles” kicking off in June, there will no doubt be much riveting reading material for Dark Knight devotees to consume in the coming months.
With a lot of emphasis being placed on the upcoming showdown between Joker and Riddler in Batman #25, the contents of issue #24 somehow became overlooked by all. But now that DC’s June solicits have been released in full, we now know that it’ll continue the “Aftermath” story begun in the previous installment.
In addition to serving as, well, the aftermath of the “I am Bane” arc, it’ll explore the fallout of whatever is to happen in “The Button” (apparently Dark Days: The Forge #1 will be doing this as well). Full details can be found below.

The special 48-page Detective Comics #950 is finally here. In all fairness, #950 technically arrived ages ago, but since we’re ignoring New 52, let’s get out the confetti. In this extra-sized edition of the legendary series, James Tynion IV pens three Baterrific tales: the “League of Shadows” prologue, “Higher Powers,” and “The Big Picture.”
The main attraction here is undoubtedly the prologue that follows Cassandra Cain’s harrowing story. She’s a lethal assassin and warrior, but also a lost child who’s desperately trying to fit in the civilized world. However much she craves a normal life, she struggles to find it due to the scars of her past. Tynion delves deep into this, exploring these inner conflicts that torment her. Particularly effective is his extended metaphor of dance and fighting throughout the story. Cassandra struggles with words, but she’s an expert of her first language: body language.

This review is based off a volume that collects Detective Comics #934-940
Although DC renumbered most series in its line when Rebirth kicked off last summer, they thankfully returned some of their oldest flagship titles to original numbering, specifically Detective Comics and Action Comics. This may not seem like a big deal to the average Joe, but when you take into account that ‘Tec will soon hit the 950 milestone – and eventually 1000 – there’s no denying that’s quite the impressive feat.
With the first collection of the new era, Rise of the Batmen, writer James Tynion IV once again makes juggling ensembles look easy. After dazzling readers with Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninjas Turtles, he’s effectively turned Detective Comics into a Bat Family team-up book. His handling of Batman, Batwoman, Red Robin, Spoiler, Orphan and a reformed Clayface is done so capably that everyone gets the proper amount of focus,...

In the very near future, DC’s oldest title – the one that the publisher is named for, in fact – will hit a milestone that few in the comic book industry have done thus far when Detective Comics celebrates 950 issues. Think about it: Batman (and others) have helped keep this series in continuous publication since the Great Depression. That’s quite a feat.
Serving as a prologue to the upcoming “League of Shadows” arc, this can’t miss issue of ‘Tec is set to contain three stories that not only observe what has come before, but speak to the current direction of the series. A gallery of unlettered interiors can be viewed below, but nothing really treads into spoiler territory.

So, you want to start reading Batman but are completely lost due to the character being around for over seventy-five years, and hundreds of issues and iterations on the character.
Where do you start? What If you only like some of the movie versions? Or maybe the video games?
What’s the New 52? What’s Rebirth?
It can be daunting if you are completely new to the world of comic books or maybe a returning fan that’s been away for a long time. While hardcore fans have probably stuck around for all the various Bat books, most maybe only keep up via Wiki or maybe random postings on sites like Cbr or IGN. Well, fear not, as I will be doing my best to give some insight on iconic Batman storylines essential to the character, along with a brief update on the current state of the character!
So without further ado,...

Comic Book Reviews: DC Comics Round Up Week 08-10-2016
Scott Snyder is back on Batman in an "all –star" way! (see what I did there?) as he teams up with two fantastic artist in Veteran John Romita Jr. and upcoming superstar Declan Shalvey. How does it hold up to his previous Batman New 52 run? Well read on to see! Also we get the return of the deadliest man in the world -- Deathstroke -- which was penned by the super talented Christopher Priest.
Action Comics #961
Story: Dan Jurgens Art: Stephen Segovia, Art Thibert
Review: Typically I don’t like it when a series keeps changing artist issue to issue, but honestly each illustrator that’s jumped on to Action Comics with Dan Jurgens has been top notch! I’m a huge fan of Tyler Kirkham and Patrick Bircher, and equally a huge fan of Stephen Segovia! And, to be fair,...

Colors by Chris Sotomayor, Emilio Lopez, Mat Lopes
Letters by Tom Napolitano
Published by DC Comics
Robin War #2 ends up being about a theme that has permeated the Batman family of books since the beginning of the New 52: family. As Dick Grayson plays the lone martyr battling Lincoln March at the Court of Owls’ HQ and pleading for Damian to leave, the rest of the original Robins, the We Are Robin kids, and even the Gotham Pd and Batman band together to score a resounding victory for the Talons. It’s a grand moment that gets cast in the shadow of Dick Grayson’s continual moral compromise as he tries to pull a Batman at the end of “Endgame” and sacrifice everything for Gotham,...
