A gripping plot, superb acting, thought-out dialog, an amazing ability to hold the audience's attention, sex, violence, and struggle for power – Game of Thrones was famous for all of this, but was it the first of its kind?
Perhaps in every genre there is the series that was unfairly closed at the most interesting moment. For fans of science fiction, Firefly became such a wound in the heart, and for fans of historical dramas, there is Rome, the return of which most connoisseurs of the genre dream of.
As it happens, Rome has only two seasons. But even that is enough to appreciate it.
Rome Was Game of Thrones’ Predecessor
Even before Game of Thrones, HBO and the BBC tried the "sex, blood and political intrigue" formula with Rome, which was released in 2005. And the historical period was more appropriate than ever: the Roman Empire just after the Gallic War...

Emilia Clarke is effortlessly one of the most beloved actresses in Hollywood, with her acting chops, beauty, wit, and personality — all leaving her audiences truly stunned. Among all the roles she has donned to date across multiple genres, her most acclaimed performance still remains her iconic portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, which also gifted her most of her fame.
Emilia Clarke in Secret Invasion.
However, even after achieving that impeccable feat through the novels-based television series, Clarke was quite a bit dissatisfied with it for a peculiar reason. And, surprisingly enough, this reason wasn’t related to the controversial ending of the series — which notably saw her character getting murdered at the hands of her very own lover, Jon Snow — but for another reason entirely.

George R. R. Martin’s incredible vision and spectacular scale in Game of Thrones was one that was coveted by many but treasured by few. Those few were allowed to extend their arms in order to reach for their dreams after HBO offered them immortality through an opportunity to star in the series. But it was one among the select few who was born with the greatest luck of them all.

This article includes spoilers for Shōgun (and Game of Thrones too).
It is a spectacular sight. Five armies, each serving one of the great clans and regents of feudal Japan at the end of the Sengoku period, gather on a field at Sekigahara. Nothing less than the fate of the realm hangs in the balance, and Lord Ishido Kazunari (Takehiro Hira) is about to be delivered the fatal blow when a letter reveals his betrothed, Lady Ochiba-no-kata (Fumi Nikaido), has thrown in her lot with their mortal enemy. The slaughter which is to commence against him will be immense.
… Or so we’re told. Because all of this devastating spectacle is a tease, a trick or shadow on the wall, as one might say. It’s a vision of the future gifted from one man to another who is already dead. We are supposed to take it on faith that...

Whenever novels are created into live-action series or movies, a large part of the fandom is left disappointed as the live-actions are not always very close to the original source material. A similar thing happened to the iconic drama series Game of Thrones which was largely based on George R.R. Martin’s novel series of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Game of Thrones s*x scenes were always considered problematic, especially since several actors had opened up about the demeaning nature of them. However, the show crossed all lines with one particularly disgusting scene in Season 5 Episode 6. Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark is subjected to brutal r*pe by her new husband, the sadistic Ramsay Bolton, in this episode. The scene was not only unwatchable but also problematic on multiple levels, prompting a fan outcry.
One Game of Thrones scene involving Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark received widespread criticism from fans
The infamous ‘Black Wedding’ episode was not a part of George R.R. Martin’s original books. Sansa Stark had already been through enough trauma in the series and another torture/r*pe scene did not add anything to her character arc.

The early 2010s are often hailed as a modern golden age of television where TV episodic content was constantly reaching new heights of cinematic brilliance. Martin revealed that they would send all kinds of threatening messages, especially after the poor reception of the eighth season. Hidetaka Miyazaki is a man who has a great degree of focus and reverence for his craft. The president and creative director at FromSoftware is known for his vast game worlds filled to the brim with rich lore. But this lore isn’t served to the player on a silver platter. One must explore his world to understand it.
This, of course, leads to a fragmented narrative delivery, which the player must piece together. This splitting of the big picture into smaller pieces of information isn’t limited to just the games. Miyazaki does the same with the people at FromSoftware, something that baffles even the members of his team!

Who would have guessed the author of A Song of Ice and Fire novels George R.R. Martin, to be a Marvel fan? Usually, writers of his stature often claim to be neck deep into von-Goethe, Hemingway, and the obvious Shakespearean dramas. But Martin broke stereotypes after claiming to be an avid comic book fan, particularly inclined towards Marvel, more than DC.

Game of Thrones creators met with George R. R. Martin for the first time in 2006 to discuss the possibility of making Martin’s best seller A Song of Ice and Fire into a series. Weiss shared the writer’s desire for a series adaptation and even answered his questions about his novel.

The finale of Game of Thrones aired almost five years ago, and since then HBO has been developing a multitude of spin-offs, prequels, and sequels to fill the void.
So far the only one to come to fruition has been House of the Dragon, which had the difficult job of drawing us back to Westeros after the disappointing end of GoT left most fans uninterested. Many doubted that the show could do the job, but they were quickly proven wrong – viewership for House of the Dragon started high and got higher as news got out about its quality. The first season holds a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes (Season 8 of the original series has 55%.)
But not all ideas are going to make it, and recent details about the Queen Nymeria project 10,000 Ships prove HBO might have been right to axe it.

Making a show in Westeros is no joke — there are dragons and battles, princes and princesses, gold coins and iron throne. It's a rare movie or TV series that comes along and captivates the audience with little more than dialogue.
Seven episodes of dialogue, in fact. Donny Dunn, the narrator and protagonist of Baby Reindeer, walks us through a brief period in his life, allegedly based on the real life of Richard Gadd, the architect of the series.
It's not an uplifting story. Then again, tales of sexual abuse, violent stalking, drugs, psychological self-harm, and random bouts of hypersexuality rarely are.
After spending nearly seven hours walking the dank, twisting corridors of Richard Gadd's hippocampus, some sparkling nuggets of humanity begin to show through the murky darkness.
The human side of the villain is so rare these days. It's what made Marvel's Thanos a surprisingly understandable character. He was evil beyond belief but understandable.
George R.R. Martin is famous (or perhaps infamous) for finding the grey areas in human thought and motivation.

A bearded geek with glasses and a funny cap created the main fantasy saga of the 21st century, which approached the level of cult status of The Lord of the Rings. George R.R. Martin himself has always been a huge fan of J. R.R. Tolkien.
However, he draws inspiration not only from the pages of dusty fantasy novels, but also from movies and TV series. Martin, a screenwriter himself, wrote several episodes for The Twilight Zone in the 1980s, and the number of his unrealized TV projects is simply too many to count.

Martin shared his favorite TV episodes on his blog, and the drama Six Feet Under, it’s final episode in particular, received special praise:
“[…] that last episode was far and away the best finale in the entire history of television, and I cannot imagine how anyone could possibly do better.

The HBO series Game of Thrones is deemed as another entry in the long list of TV series that captivated audiences for years. However, while fans have appreciated the show for its grandeur and mesmerizing storyline, the series finale turned out to be quite disappointing for most. And seemingly George R.R. HBO has officially canceled its Jon Snow sequel project. Good news for fans of the Stark bastard? No. Good news for Game of Thrones fans? Yes.
Hear us out.
It Would Have Been A Hit
It's pretty much guaranteed that viewers would have tuned in to a Jon Snow sequel. Because the show would have taken place directly after the events of GoT season 8, it had all of the fan-bait that usually draws viewers: the comfort of well-known characters, the promise of cameos from old favorites, and a backstory we're all familiar with.
Heck, I hated the GoT finale as much as anyone else, and I still know I would have tuned in for at least the pilot of a Jon Snow series. I mean, does he stay in the North? How does he get over the death of his aunt/lover? Does he still know nothing?
But after two years of development,...

Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Elden Ring has enough content and elements in the game to explore. In spite of the fact that the game was released almost two years ago, it still has a range of secrets waiting to be uncovered. Be it new caves, illusory walls, or secret bosses, players have plenty of things to find in FromSoftware’s masterpiece.
Elden Ring
Notably, some of the secrets cannot be found by playing the game alone. Seems like Elden Ring also has some hidden cut content buried deep within its files. These were recently dug out by a YouTuber and data miner.

The YouTuber ‘Sekiro Dubi’ had previously uncovered an alternate opening within Elden Ring’s files. This time, upon more digging, they have found some unused maps and assets in the game. Earlier, Dubi had discovered a lot of hidden assets stacked away in the game’s files.

When "Six Feet Under" came to Netflix in November 2023, I was eager to finally watch one of HBO's finest television shows. My father passed away in September, and while binging this series so soon after his death might seem like a masochistic endeavor, it was quite healing. One of the few things I knew about "Six Feet Under" was that many critics and audiences consider the final episode the greatest television ending of all time. As George R. R. Martin told Variety, "[T]hat last episode was far and away the best finale in the entire history of television, and I cannot imagine how anyone could possibly do better." Empire's review called it "almost unbearably moving and thrillingly executed."

After many years of several genres dominating the industry, like Fps or RPGs, one game changed it all and introduced its own new experience, and those games are Elden Ring and Dark Souls. FromSoftware, a Japanese studio, released the Dark Souls games, creating a fandom that keeps growing every year while also creating a whole new genre.
Hidetaka Miyazaki was the director behind this game, and he brought these IPs with no possibility of any difficulty setting; you can only play what the game offers. This was also in the latest popular studio game, Elden Ring, which added other new features, but the difficulty stayed the same.

Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games, from Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, have rich and complex lore. In fact, difficult gameplay and complex lore have become his signature elements. Although Miyazaki has created several iconic games over the years, Elden Ring is the latest jewel of his career.

Elden Ring has a vast and cryptic lore, thanks to Miyazaki’s collaboration with George R. R. Martin. While Miyazaki worked on the game’s story and characters, Martin created the overall mythology for Elden Ring. His narrative was the backstory that set the events of the game.

The world of Game of Thrones has always been an eventful one, irrespective of the fate that befalls the characters and the gruesome incidents that traumatize the viewers. But even for the audience who comes from a background of having read A Song of Ice and Fire, the HBO series could get a little daunting due to the nature of its transgressions from the original text.

Years later, the author, who noticed one such transgression, himself let his wrath be known for a line that was crossed by the actions of his own characters. Game of Thrones’ overwhelming popularity inevitably led to HBO wanting more TV shows set in George Martin’s captivating world. Countless projects have already been pitched and rejected, but while some of them were questionable at best, others were promising and spectacular even based on their premises — and still ended up in the red-lit pile with the rest.

Hidetaka Miyazaki on several instances has been called the master of foreshadowing, as it is something he has done over time with his releases including the Dark Soul series and his latest title, Elden Ring. What the renowned director has lined up for himself is the release of Shadow of the Erdtree Dlc to be released soon, and fans believe it might not be where the game’s storyline comes to an end.

Players who know deeply about Elden Ring’s storyline would know how it has a lot of cliffhangers and mysteries for the fans to solve. These open endings also hold the potential to eventually become Dlc for the game, but it would be wiser to focus on what direction Miyazaki might aim for if he decides to come up with more after Shadow of the Erdtree.

Elden Ring is without a doubt FromSoftware’s biggest game yet, and when it launched, it also became their most successful game. This was all thanks to its captivating world and engaging combat mechanics. This game, like most other Soulslike titles, was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, but one other big name was also involved with its development: George R. R. Martin.
George R. R. Martin was tasked with developing the fleshed-out lore for this massive soulslike game. He created more of the characters, and he gave all of them a back story. The story then became the whole basis of Elden Ring. Yet, the legendary writer refuses to take credit for this game all alone.

All "Game of Thrones" fans know the words Valar Morghulis, a Valyrian saying for "All men must die." That phrase almost proved prophetic when it came to HBO's attempts to whittle down the many spin-off shows at various stages in development over the years. Although "House of the Dragon" survived the culling to earn a second season, several others -- the Jon Snow-centric series, an untitled prequel starring Naomi Watts (which actually filmed a full pilot episode before being scrapped), and even a show set in the slums of King's Landing, Flea Bottom -- were doomed to the chopping block.
One of the more fascinating concepts, however, involved a famous figure from Westerosi history known as Nymeria. Titled "Ten Thousand Ships", this, too, never coalesced and we've never known why. Brian Helgeland’s Game of Thrones spinoff, Ten Thousand Ships, is getting docked as HBO shelves the project before it can set sail. Helgeland, the director behind films like L.A.
