Three more drama pilots from NBC have secured the services of casting directors, Backstage has learned. “The Sixth Gun,” based on the comic created by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, will be cast by Laura Schiff and Carrie Audino. The new television season means many things. It marks the reboot of a classic 1970s series, the return of a few fan-favorite actors, and, most important, a whole bunch of casting opportunities for actors in guest-starring, recurring, and regular roles. Whether or not they've seen the original 1970s TV series or the feature films from the early 2000s, most people have heard of "Charlie's Angels." Much like the original, ABC's reboot centers on three women solving cases for their mysterious and elusive boss, Charles Townsend. The action-packed show features a trio of beautiful women in need of a second chance: Abby (Rachael Taylor) the thief, Kate (Annie Ilonzeh) the fallen cop, and Eve (Minka Kelly) the street racer. The update borrows stories from the original, but the show has a darker, more realistic feel. However, casting director Debi Manwiller says the original is a good jumping-off point for actors trying to familiarize themselves with the show. "It's not a straight-up procedural cop show at all," she reveals. "There's definitely a lightness to it and the banter and the fun between the girls." She adds that the reboot has a definite sense.

One might say that G. Charles Wright has spent his whole life preparing for a job in casting. "All my childhood was spent in front of a television instead of playing outdoors or doing homework," he says with a chuckle. He currently works on the hit TV show "The Middle," starring Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn, and teaches a popular auditioning class in Los Angeles. Other credits include "That '70s Show," PBS's "Sid the Science Kid," and numerous pilots and Web shows.Career PathI started the way most casting directors start, which is accidentally—it really seems to be an accidental profession for people. I was an actor and I supported myself during the day working in the software industry. The company I worked for got bought, and it triggered a stock plan I was in, so I took some money and ran. I thought, "Maybe I want to become a TV writer.

Freddie Prinze Jr. was so desperate to land a part in action drama 24 he showed up at office of the programme's casting director unannounced and refused to leave until he was hired.
The actor landed a big part in the new season of the show - as Cole Ortiz - after Emmy Award winner Debi Manwiller spent an hour with him in her office.
Prince, Jr tells WENN, "I went to the casting director’s office, and there were no other actors there. When they brought me in, I said, 'Look, you’re not waiting for anyone else to get in here, so we’re doing this audition ’til I get it right.'
"She was nice enough to let me get a few cracks at it. And I sent her a big box of cookies when I got the part. I don’t get offered this kind of a job, period... To get a chance to do this is something, as an actor, that you ready yourself for. I was very excited."...
