Created by Chris Lang, ITV’s Unforgotten pairs Nicola Walker’s Dci Cassie Stuart with Sanjeev Bhaskar’s Di Sunil Khan. Along with their team, those two investigate decades-old murder cases, piecing together events that transpired many years ago to deliver justice and closure to the victim and their relatives.
Series one saw the duo called to investigate the remains of a man long-buried under the foundations of a London home, while series two began with the discovery of a skeleton dredged up from the River Lea. Series three was the distressing story of a missing teenager whose body was discovered under the central reservation of a motorway.
Series four, which starts with the discovery of a body stored for decades in a domestic freezer, will star New Tricks’ Sheila Hancock, Killing Eve’s Susan Lynch, Wanderlust’s Andy Nyman and more. See below for the full cast and plot details.

1. When is it back?
Detectives Alec Hardy (David Tennant) and Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) will return to ITV in January 2015.
We don't know the exact date, but if we were taking a punt it would be in the second week of the year. And ITV would have to be daft not to put it on Monday nights again - it was the perfect start to the week.
2. Who is returning?
Despite Hardy's funny turns and dicky heart, David Tennant is definitely back. Despite finding out that her husband was a child murderer, Olivia Colman's slug-stomper Miller will also return.
Perhaps more surprisingly, Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan are also involved in series 2. The duo played Beth and Mark Latimer, the parents of victim Danny in series one and their reappearance suggests that the second series may in some way be connected to the first - rather than a second,...

Spoiler warning: this interview reveals the identity of the Broadchurch killer, and other series one plot details.
Years of keeping Doctor Who and Torchwood’s confidences must have been excellent preparation for the secrecy Chris Chibnall had to maintain throughout the run of his successful ITV drama, Broadchurch.
Part whodunit and part exploration of grief and loss, the David Tennant and Olivia Colman-starring series came to occupy a rare position in early 2013. Critics praised it, viewers watched it in their millions, and in its final weeks, online theories on the killer’s identity were just as widespread and meticulously constructed as anything you’d find in a Doctor Who comments section. Broadchurch fans united on Monday nights and poured reactions onto Twitter and Facebook during every ad break.

ITV has ordered a second series of 'Broadchurch'. The mystery crime drama - which stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman - has been recommissioned following the success of the first series, which ended last night (22.04.13) with the resolution of schoolboy Danny Latimer's murder. The show's creator and writer Chris Chibnall said: ''The whole 'Broadchurch' team has been delighted and properly gobsmacked by the response from ITV viewers. The final twist in the Broadchurch finale was the confirmation that the ITV drama will have a second series.
Broadchurch producer Richard Stokes hinted to fans of the show that there would be a major twist at the end of the episode - and his comments referred to the written text "Broadchurch will return", which appeared on screen after the end credits.
The murder case in the eight-part drama, which centred on the murder of schoolboy Danny Latimer, was all resolved by the end of the episode. The detectives in the case DS Miller (Olivia Colman) and Di Hardy (David Tennant) appeared to have retired from policework, so it's not clear which actors will be involved in the second run.
Broadchurch has been an overwhelming ratings hit for ITV, winning critical acclaim and generating huge publicity around the whodunnit mystery.
The show's writer Chris Chibnall said on Twitter this evening:...

ITV have released 50 pictures from the 'Downton Abbey' Christmas special, showing the Crawley family celebrating the festive season at a Scottish estate.
Producers of the hit period drama have warned viewers to have their "tissues ready" for the show's Christmas tearjerker.
This year's two-hour episode sees the family visit cousins, against a backdrop of deer stalking and shooting in the Highlands.
Happily married: Matthew and Lady Mary
But many of their staff have remained at 'Downton', and further dramas unfold in the family's absence, in the show to be shown at 9pm on Christmas Day.
Executive producer Gareth Neame said: "While the cat's away, the mice will play. What will they get up to while the family is away?"
ITV's director of drama Laura Mackie said: "As ever, 'Downton' will take its audience through a whole range of emotions. All of life's experiences will feature in this episode.

There’s big news coming in from the UK for Downton Abbey. The highly popular period drama was recently renewed for a fourth season, and the third season hasn’t even aired yet! Well, at least not in the dates. While it’s still six weeks away from premiering over here on PBS, across the pond Season 3 had its finale on ITV three weeks ago, leaving the law abiding citizens of the U.S. – because pirates have already downloaded and watch the season, as well as several movies – feeling a little left out. But that’s just the way things work and there’s no use getting all mopey about it. We’ll get to see Season 3 soon enough and we’ve already got Season 4 to look forward to!

'Downton Abbey' producers have warned viewers to have their "tissues ready" for the show's Christmas tearjerker.
This year's two-hour festive episode sees the family head to a Scottish estate - filmed at Inveraray Castle - to visit cousins, against a backdrop of deer stalking and shooting in the Highlands.
All of life's experiences will feature in this episode."
The Christmas edition of the show has become one of the most popular programmes of the festive season.
