Lycett and UB Iwerks set up Disney's optical printers.
He joined Disney in 1937 to design and modify camera equipment.
He graduated from Cal Tech with a degree in engineering.
In 1953 when UB Iwerks went into research and development, Lycett was
named the head of the Special Processes Department at Disney.
When UB Iwerks died in 1971, Lycett replaced him as the head of
research and development at Disney.
He became the head of the Photographic Effects Department at Disney. He
held that position until he retired after completing composite work on
"The Black Hole" (1979)
Children: Kenneth, William, Roy, Victor.
He helped create the attraction "Great Moments with Mr Lincoln" at the
1964 World's Fair, as well as the Disneyland version. He also worked on
Disneyland's "Rocket to the Moon" attraction.
He spent his early childhood years in Chile, where his father was a
mining engineer. He attended boarding school in England; later, his
family moved to California.
