It has been a good start for the Indians at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. With Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang taking home the first golds in the event, sta players Sania Mirza, Leander Paes, Saina Nehwal have also not disappointed. While the third day of play has almost come to an end, tennis ace Sania Mirza has comfortably made her way into the quarterfinals of the Cwg. Mirza defeated Brittany Teei of the Cook Islands 6-0 and 6-2 to sail to the quarterfinals of th women’s singles category.
Joining Sania Mirza in the quarterfinal stage of the game in the men’s singles section will be Somdev Devvarman who closed in on Sri Lanka’s Amresh Jayawickreme by 6-0 and 6-1. Rohan Bopanna, another popular face in the Indian tennis circuit however failed to make it to the next step at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. Bopanna lost to Australian Peter Luczak on Wednesday.
