Future Islands have readied their seventh studio album, People Who Aren’t There Anymore. The full project arrives January 26th, while new single “The Tower” is out now.
The follow-up to 2020’s As Long as You Are, People Who Aren’t There Anymore was produced by Future Islands alongside Steve Wright, while Wright mixed the project with Chris Coady. It arrives on CD, cassette, standard black vinyl, transparent vinyl, and yellow and black “yolk” vinyl that features alternative artwork. Pre-orders are ongoing.
New track “The Tower” begins with almost understated synths before building to the type of shimmering chorus Future Islands are known for. “Threw a bottle across the water/ To someone who’s thinking of me,” Samuel Herring sings. In its brooding music video, directed by Johnathan Van Tulleken, he does just that, as he and bandmates William Cashion, Gerrit Welmers, and Michael Lowry walk across a deserted beach.

The upcoming Apple series “The Changeling” has added Future Islands frontman Samuel T. Herring to the cast, Variety has learned.
The role will mark Herring’s acting debut. He joins previously announced series lead Lakeith Stanfield in the series, along with cast members Adina Porter and Clark Backo.

The Daytime Emmys honor the best in television programming that airs during the day, but that distinction is not as simple as it used to be. We’re in an era when streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime deliver programming that can be viewed at any time of day, some of which conforms more closely to the kinds of shows that air in prime time, and others that correspond to the usual daytime fare.

Ten years after their first entry in NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, Future Islands returned to perform a Covid-19-safe remote set from an empty Carroll Baldwin Memorial Hall in their home base of Baltimore.
“We lost the desk,” lead singer Sam Herring joked, but the band had an advantage: With only drummer Michael Lowry onstage, the rest of Future Islands — including bassist William Cashion and synth keyboardist Gerrit Welmers — took to the auditorium floor to dance and jump around as they performed tracks from their most recent album,...

Will The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Ridge Forrester be — gasp! — recast?
According to the CBS soap’s showrunner Bradley Bell, it’s a very real possibility.
Unlike a vast majority of shocking daytime TV exits, “Ridge will not be dead or presumed dead” following his Sept. 14 swan song, Bell tells TV Guide Magazine. Rather, “He will just not be in the picture” following his and Brooke’s honeymoon, which means that “at some point it will be necessary for Ridge to return to the show” — very likely in the form of a different actor.
