The 1990s brought about a lot of iconic shows, but one of the most iconic shows geared toward kids was definitely Clarissa Explains It All. The series, airing on Nickelodeon, followed Clarissa Darling as she navigated life as a quirky teen in her equally eccentric family. Melissa Joan Hart took on the lead role. While the series seemed to have a pretty basic premise, fans felt connected to Clarissa in a very real way. That’s likely because the character often broke the fourth wall to chat with her audience. Decades later, a reboot was planned, but it ultimately fell through. Hart explained why the reboot was nixed, and she is totally Ok with it.
A ‘Clarissa Explains It All’ reboot was once in the works
If you check out Melissa Joan Hart’s IMDb page, she has one upcoming project listed. It is the Clarissa Explains It All reboot.

Four roles were cast for Fox’s Batman prequel series Gotham. Robin Lord Taylor will play Oswald Cobblepot, a lowlife who eventually becomes The Penguin. Zabryna Guevara was picked for Jim Gordon‘s boss Captain Essen (who may be inspired by Sarah Essen), Erin Richards will be Jim’s fiancee Barbara Kean while Sean Pertwee is set as Alfred Pennyworth, an ex-marine protecting the young Bruce Wayne.
Meanwhile, epic casting news for the CW’s Flash pilot, which added John Wesley Shipp in an unspecified role. Some of you will recall that Shipp played Barry Allen the last time anyone attempted a Flash TV series. Is it too early to start wishing for a role for Amanda Pays (Shipp’s Flash co-star)?

In today’s news a blast from the past gets a longer life. ABC Family has granted a season 3 back order and season 4 renewal to Melissa & Joey, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence from those classics Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Blossom. What’s really special about this headline is that season 3 premiers today!
The back order situation has come, calling for 20 extra episodes to be added on in order to complete season 3. Showing some faith in this cast, ABC Family went ahead with a 20-episode fourth season order to boot.
The icing on the cake is that now Melissa & Joey has the distinction of becoming the network’s first comedy to reach 100 episodes. Break out the bubbly. The additional Season 3 episodes will air in 2014.

Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence already told us about the special guest stars making cameos on 'Melissa & Joey' when the show returns from its eight-month hiatus on Wednesday. (Vivica A. Fox and a Lawrence brothers reunion? Yes, please!)
But if you can't wait until June 29 for your 'Melissa and Joey' fix, fear not. Both Hart and Lawrence had plenty to share about what's in store for their characters, politician Mel Burke and live-in nanny Joe Longo.
"It's a lot of the ups and downs. I think that the journey of the show is that any moment one of these people could either find a significant other and the relationship is over," said Lawrence. "Joe could get that opportunity that he's been waiting for to get his feet back on the ground and go make the millions of dollars he's used to making,...

Starring a pair of sitcom veterans, Melissa & Joey revolves around Mel Burke (Melissa Joan Hart) and Joe Longo (Joey Lawrence). She's a young politico who must take in her sister's two teenage kids (Taylor Spreitler and Nick Robinson). She hires Joe, an out-of-work commodities trader, to be the family's new "manny" and mishaps ensue.
If the premise of Melissa & Joey seems familiar, it's probably because it sounds a lot like Who's the Boss?, the sitcom that ran for eight seasons on ABC. But, how will this new TV show fare? As well as its predecessor or will it be cancelled after just one season, like so many other ABC Family sitcoms?
Melissa & Joey debuted on August 17th to a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.15 million total viewers. That marked a record for an ABC Family premiere in...

ABC Family is introducing a new sitcom, "Melissa & Joey" to their line-up -- a "Who's the Boss?" for 2010.
It centers around a city councilwoman named Mel Burke (Melissa Joan Hart), who becomes the legal guardian of her teenage niece and nephew in the wake of her sister and brother-in-law going to jail for white collar crimes.
Joe Longo (Joey Lawrence) is one of the victims of said crimes. He loses his job, condo and car and instead ends up as Mel's nanny. Wacky hijinks ensue. Or at least that's what the laugh track would have us think.
The main points of our amusement in the first episode come in the form of Mel's interactions with her colleague Rhonda (Elizabeth Ho) -- they have a dueling phone conversations scene that is particularly delightful -- but overall the laughs are few and far between.
What the show is lacking is a sexual tension between the leads,...

Following their success with last year's TV-movie My Fake Fiancé, former teen stars Joey Lawrence (Blossom) and Melissa Joan Hart (Clarissa Explains It All; Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) are reteaming for a new sitcom, Melissa & Joey (premiering tonight at 8/7c on ABC Family). The premise? When local politician Mel Burke suddenly finds herself responsible for her teenage niece and nephew, help arrives in the unlikely form of Joe Longo, a former Wall Street trader who moves in as the family's "manny."
