“Modern Family” has landed a cable run at Warner Bros. Discovery’s TBS network starting Sept. 25.
The ABC sitcom, which ran for 11 total seasons from 2009 to 2020, will air on TBS for a three-hour block on weekdays — specifically from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on weekdays. The licensing by the cable outlet marks an attempt to bolster its comedy options.
Previously, “Friends” and “Young Sheldon” have occupied the hours that “Modern Family” will run. Both shows will remain on the network. Monday saw longer daily marathons of “The Big Bang Theory” on TBS.
“Our audience continually seeks out popular comedies like ‘Friends,’ ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and ‘Modern Family,’ so now that we have all three of these iconic series on TBS, we can build an even bigger, more engaged audience,” said Julie Taylor, chief of Content Strategy & Insights, US Networks Group, Warner Bros. Discovery. “We have the best in class...

Updated with launch taking effect. Modern Family, which wrapped its highly decorated, 11-season network run last year, is embarking on a significant new streaming chapter via a shared deal with Peacock and Hulu.
Starting today, all 250 episodes of the Emmy-laden sitcom are available on both services after years of only having a limited batch of episodes on Hulu.
Indications from the deal announcement on January 26 are that the go-go streaming market remains in full effect. Sources familiar with the terms said the multi-year acquisition price stretched well into nine figures, consistent with healthy rates for recent half-hours such as Friends, The Office and Seinfeld. Prices have been driven steadily higher by the entry of several new billion-dollar players into the streaming fray in the past year.

In a unique deal, Hulu and Peacock have both acquired the streaming rights to the hit ABC comedy “Modern Family.” All 11 seasons of the Emmy-winning series will be available on both platforms beginning Feb. 3.
The deal marks the first time that all 250 episodes of “Modern Family” will be available to stream. During its run, Hulu had next-day rights to the series, which is produced by 20th Studios. Disney owns both the studio and Hulu.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Peacock will offer the series in a similar fashion as “The Office.” The first 12 episodes of Season 1 of “Modern Family” will be on the streaming service’s free tier, with the rest behind the paywall, which can cost between $4.99 and $9.99 a month. Comcast and Cox subscribers get the premium tier included in their TV packages.

It’s official — ABC’s flagship comedy series Modern Family will wrap its run after one more season. The Emmy-winning family comedy has been picked up for an eleventh and final season, the network announced at TCA. I hear it will consist of at least 18 episodes and could expand to 22 episodes.
Modern Family’s renewal was all but assured when the original adult cast, stars Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara, in December agreed on new deals with producing studio 20th Century Fox TV to return. Since then, the studio also has signed co-creators/executive producers Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd for another season, and also has made new deals with the original kid actors — now all young adults — Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez. I hear some of those cast negotiations came down to the wire, with pacts finally closing overnight.

ABC has set an end date for “Modern Family,” renewing the sitcom for an 11th and final season.
The announcement was made by ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke on Tuesday at the Television Critics Association press tour.
“Chris and Steve have created one of the most seminal and iconic comedies in television history,” Burke said. “In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss.”

During its run, “Modern Family” was among the most-nominated comedy series, winning a total of 22 Emmys, including five straight years for Outstanding Comedy Series (2010-2014). “Even after 10 years together, we realized there are still some things our writers don’t yet know about each other’s sex lives,” co-creator and executive producer Steve Levitan said.

Written in the Blood by Stephen Lloyd Jones Sci-fi, paranormal and mystery all mixed together in one fell swoop – and it is not easy reading either. This is a door stop of a book totalling nearly 500 pages. It is a story which demands all your concentration in order to keep track of the characters, story lines especially given the way it jumps back and forth through a couple of hundred years of history. Leah faces one simple question throughout this book – who do you trust? And when it is her life, and those of others at stake, the […]...

How I Met Your Mother Season 9, Episode 7 “No Questions Asked”
Written by Stephen Lloyd
Directed by Pamela Fryman
Airs Monday nights at 8pm Et on CBS
Can we get to The Mother already? The longer How I Met Your Mother holds out on its central story, the more it undermines its main characters with over-the-top antics and horribly written subplots that bring out the absolute worst in everybody. Although “No Questions Asked” doesn’t quite stoop quite that low to get laughs, it’s attempts at humor are sloppy and random, gleaning a half hour of ‘comedy’ out of the titular joke – a joke that’s run its course by its second appearance, ten minutes into the episode. More so, it just feels like a complete waste of time, ending the episode without budging the plot forward an inch, leaving its two main couples dangling in the same awkward, uncomfortably...

How I Met Your Mother executive producer Stephen Lloyd has closed a new two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. Under the pact, Lloyd will continue as executive producer on the upcoming final season of the studio’s CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, on which he has been since Season 1, and will join another 20th comedy series the following season, ABC’s Modern Family. Himym creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas “rely on Stephen tremendously, and we couldn’t imagine not having him on the show for its pivotal final season,” 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. “It also speaks to how much we value Stephen that he’ll go straight from there to our incredibly important Modern Family the following year. He’s a hugely versatile writer who delivers both laugh-out-loud comedy and enormous heart, and every showrunner wants him on their team.” On Modern Family,...

It’s a mid-October morning on the Los Angeles set of How I Met Your Mother, and director Pamela Fryman and writer Stephen Lloyd are deep in conversation about a pivotal moment of tonight’s episode.
“What makes sense is if he doesn’t pump as much,” Fryman says.
“He can grind his hips a little,” adds Lloyd, demonstrating with a small swivel of his own hips.
“Just not bend the knees as much,” Fryman concludes.
Then Fryman turns her attention again to what she tells EW is “a true perk” of her job helming nearly every episode of How I Met Your Mother...
