Reba McEntire is reuniting with Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis — all executive producers from her hit series Reba — to create a new comedy pilot for NBC in collaboration with Universal Television. In addition to the Reba team, Julie Abbott also executive produces.
In the as-yet-untitled multi-cam project, Reba (McEntire) inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.
This is the first official pilot order for the 2024 broadcast pilot season, which was impacted by the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
McEntire is already part of the NBC family as she looks toward her second season on the hit competition series The Voice. She will join John Legend, Chance the Rapper and Dan + Shay as coaches holding court on Season 25, premiering February 26.

Mitchell will play a new staff member at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center in the new season of Chicago Med, TVLine reports. Dr. Mitch Ripley is an ER physician with a past connection to Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), the hospital’s head of psychiatry. He comes from a troubled background, which led him to cross paths with Dr. Charles when he was growing up.
The addition of Mitchell to the Chicago Med cast comes after several high-profile exits in season 8, including the departures of Brian Tee, who played Dr. Ethan Choi, and Nick Gehlfuss, who played Dr. Will Halstead. Both had been with the show since its first season.

When asked about the potential for a third marriage, this time to Linn, she wondered why they would “rock the boat” on a good thing. Married or not, McEntire and Linn share a life, a faith, and a talent for acting. Reba McEntire and Rex Linn | Taylor Hill/FilmMagic

A new episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series has been released this morning, and in this episode we’re looking back at one of the least popular films to be directed by the legendary John Carpenter: the 2001 release Ghosts of Mars (watch it Here). Why didn’t Ghosts of Mars turn out to be another Carpenter classic? We try to figure that out in the video embedded above.
Directed by Carpenter from a script he wrote with Larry Sulkis, Ghosts of Mars has the following synopsis: Long inhabited by human settlers, the Red Planet has become the manifest destiny of an over-populated Earth. Nearly 640,000 people now live and work all over Mars, mining the planet for its abundant natural resources. But one of those mining operations has uncovered a deadly mother lode: a long-dormant Martian civilization whose warriors are systematically taking over the bodies of human intruders.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Big Sky: Deadly Trails Season 3 finale, “That Old Feeling.”] If you tuned into the Big Sky: Deadly Trails Season 3 finale to see Beau (Jensen Ackles), Jenny (Katheryn Winnick), and Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) rescue his daughter Emily (Cree Cicchino), you were left feeling satisfied. If you were hoping to see something happen between Beau and Jenny, that wasn’t exactly the case. Rather, after seeing Sunny (Reba McEntire) kill Buck (Rex Linn) after she found out he was the Bleeding Heart Killer and had kidnapped Emily and Denise (Dedee Pfeiffer) and then go to prison for it, he did go to her place, but we’ll have to wait to see if anything will happen. Ackles breaks down the finale, Beau’s feelings for Jenny, and more. I have to say how seamlessly Beau has fit into the world of Big Sky since his introduction last season. Jensen Ackles: It’s never easy ...

The first time we see Reba McEntire employ her considerable powers of persuasion as no-nonsense judge Kim Wheeler in a new Lifetime movie, The Hammer, she’s dressing down a deputy pointing a gun at her after she was clocked going over 100 mph on a rural highway. The second time, she’s using her gavel to clean the clock of an angry perp as he rushes the bench. And so south-central Nevada’s new traveling circuit judge earns the nickname “The Hammer.” The country music icon resumes her U.S. concert tour in March, but she tells TV Guide Magazine she’s been having “a blast” on The Hammer and ABC’s Western crime thriller Big Sky: Deadly Trails — especially because her real-life beau Rex Linn (Young Sheldon) costars in both projects. “She doesn’t stop moving,” he marvels. “I’m telling you, man, she’s like a great white shark.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Big Sky Season 3 Episode 10, “A Thin Layer of Rocks.”] Big Sky: Deadly Trails ends its winter finale on a few big notes. First of all, Beau (Jensen Ackles) and Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) definitely have a moment, only to be interrupted when his ex-wife Carla (Angelique Cabral) and daughter Emily (Cree Cicchino) show up to stay with him due to Avery’s (Henry Ian Cusick) strange behavior. Jenny then goes home to find bloody towels and her mother waiting. And Cassie (Kylie Bunbury), on the hunt for the bleeding heart killer, ends up at Buck’s (Rex Linn) door … and he has a knife. Showrunner Elwood Reid teases what’s ahead. Cassie’s potentially in danger at the end. Elwood Reid: Cassie’s the one that’s been instigating the whole idea of Buck hiding something. She’s been bugging Cormac [Luke Mitchell] about that, and she’s been going after...

In her accomplished 32-year acting career, country music icon Reba McEntire had never played a villain until Big Sky: Deadly Trails. “That’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while,” she says. “I’m really loving it.” And it shows. On the Montana-set crime drama’s third season, she beams as perfectionist Sunny Barnes, who runs Sunny Day Excursions with her slightly cowed husband, Buck. Her tightly controlled life is rocked when a hiker and then a Sunny Day camper named Paige (Madalyn Horcher) go missing. (Paige’s situation was revealed on October 19.) Fearing the involvement of her disturbed secret son Walter (Seth Gabel), who is hidden in a nearby cabin, the mama bear shows her claws. As private detective Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) closes in — and fellow country singers Lyle Lovett and Darius Rucker pop up as trackers in the November 2 episode — Sunny and Buck are increasingly desperate to misdirect her.

Jensen Ackles and Katheryn Winnick in ‘Big Sky’ season 3 episode 1 (ABC/Michael Moriatis)
A hiker’s threatened by a creepy stranger and falls to his death in the first few minutes of ABC’s Big Sky season three episode one. Plus, it’s disclosed Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) broke up with Mark, and he and Jerrie are off hunting the cartel. (Cassie says what we all think – Mark and Jerrie are good together.) And Jenny (Katheryn Winnick), Cassie, and Denise (Dedee Pfeiffer) all agree Beau really fills out his jeans – all before the opening credits roll.
We also quickly learn the detective agency’s main case this season will be figuring out what happened to the missing hiker.
Beau (Jensen Ackles) scores major points by complimenting Denise’s veggie lasagna. Cassie notes Denise – who she calls Mrs. Robinson – has never cooked lasagna for her as Jenny and Beau head off to work.

Reba McEntire has joined the cast of Big Sky: Deadly Trails and is opening up about playing a darker character than what audiences would expect from her. The country star also teased if viewers would be able to see a musical performance as her character Sunny Barnes in the ABC drama.
“I get to hum a little bit, and sing a little but, but we’ll see,” McEntire said during the ABC TCA panel.
Showrunner and executive producer Elwood Reid said that “there may be a little space for her to sing.” However, given that Sunny is on a “pretty dark journey” her song might be a “murder ballad.” Reid also added that during the Country Music Awards this year, they are hoping to have “some fun country music stars coming in and cameo on the show.”

What exactly does Sunny Barnes (Reba McEntire) know about a missing backpacker? In the newest Big Sky: Deadly Trails clip, it certainly looks like she knows more than she’s saying when questioned by Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and Beau Arlen (Jensen Ackles). “We actually got a tip on that backpacker I was telling you about, spotted heading up Deadman’s Drop six days ago,” Cassie says. “Sorry, we still haven’t seen him,” Sunny tells her, and her husband Buck (Rex Linn) remarks that Deadman’s Drop is where people go when they want to be left alone. But it doesn’t look like he was alone, based on the two sets of boot prints found. And sure, there are signs saying the trails closed, but that won’t necessarily stop people. “Just some people want to disappear,” Buck says, but as Beau sees it, “there’s people who make them disappear.

Reba McEntire is staying booked and busy in 2022, with the upcoming release of her Lifetime film The Hammer, shooting underway on ABC’s Big Sky, and a concert tour kicking off this fall. What this means is that a revival of her popular series Reba will have to wait, although, she says, it’s a project she would love to explore.
“So many obstacles,” McEntire told Deadline about what’s keeping the revival from happening. “The TV business changes so much that sometimes reboots are hot and then they’re not. Plus getting everyone scheduled together is also hard. Steve Howie is very busy, and so is Joanna Garcia. Mellisa [Peterman] is doing wonderful and here we are making a movie together. I guess timing and schedule will dictate that in the future.”

Reba McEntire delivers swift justice (and a gavel to the head!) in the first trailer for the Lifetime original movie The Hammer.
As previously reported, the project reunites McEntire with Reba costar Melissa Peterman. The made-for-tv film is inspired by the life of traveling circuit judge Kim Wanker, and casts McEntire as Kim Wheeler, “an outspoken, firecracker lawyer who is appointed Judge of the 5th District of Nevada,” and Peterman as Kim’s sister Kris, the local brothel owner (!) who becomes a prime suspect in the murder of Kim’s predecessor (!!). As a result, Kim is forced to “work even...

It will be a Reba reunion on the set of new Lifetime movie The Hammer. Reba McEntire will star with fellow Reba alum Melissa Peterman for the film inspired by the life of traveling circuit judge, Kim Wanker.
McEntire’s real-life partner Rex Linn (CSI: Miami) and Kay Shioma Metchie (Totally Normal) also star.
Per the logline, the film follows Kim Wheeler, an outspoken, firecracker lawyer who is appointed Judge of the 5th District of Nevada and is one of the few traveling judges left in America. After the reigning judge dies under suspicious circumstances, Kim finds herself covering a circuit that stretches between Las Vegas and Reno — a rugged, often desolate area where anything and everything can happen. With gavel in hand, she lays down the law with a no-nonsense brand of justice, that quickly earns her the nickname “The Hammer.” As...

Reba McEntire has set her next Lifetime original movie with Reba McEntire’s The Hammer. The country music legend will executive produce and star in the film, which reunites her with Reba co-star Melissa Peterman (Young Sheldon) and also stars Kay Shioma Metchie and Rex Linn. McEntire and Peterman played Reba Hart and Barbra Jean Booker-Hart (“B.J.”) in Reba from 2001 to 2007. B.J. had an affair with Reba’s husband, Brock Hart (Christopher Rich) while their marriage was on the rocks and married him after their divorce. McEntire and Peterman had a previous on-screen reunion in ABC Family’s Baby Daddy, and now they’ll play sisters in The Hammer. The movie is inspired by the real life of traveling circuit judge, Kim Wanker, “who hands down justice unlike anyone else,” as Lifetime describes. McEntire will play Wanker, who will be named Kim Wheeler in the movie. As the logline teases,...
