With depleted resources and only a tent and the bare essentials between them, every step along the path is a testament to their growing strength and determination. The story is a journey that is exhilarating, challenging, and liberating in equal measure. A portrayal of home and how it can be lost and rediscovered in the most unexpected ways.

Guns firing, blood flying, goons dying, and an unlikely hero quipping before bringing down the big bad. Just your standard action movie, right? Now replace the blaring guitar or thunderous orchestra with “Jingle Bell Rock,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” and “The First Noel.” Wait… is this a holiday movie or Lethal Weapon?
Every year, the debate rages on. Bruce Willis, spraying machine gun fire. Hans, nonplussed, killing the world’s worst yuppie scumbag Ellis. Al, the redeemed killer cop, gunning down Karl in a surprise display of heroics. Sure, John McTiernan, Jeb Stuart, and Steven E. de Souza’s Die Hard is a certified classic of the action genre, but is it really a Christmas movie? There are arguments for and against this, but for whatever reason, the controversy has coalesced around Die Hard and forgotten the real action movie that deserves to be in the Christmas canon, and...

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – for Die Hard fans.
While there may be a little less festive cheer to go around this December, one thing remains constant during the holiday season: the debate about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
And one man who probably knows better than most is screenwriter Doug Richardson. Besides Bruce Willis himself, Richardson has had a hand in more Die Hard films than almost anyone out there, starting with the similarly festive follow-up Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
While Willis is firmly in the “no” camp on the question of whether Die Hard and its sequel are Christmas movies, Richardson disagrees.
“It is a Christmas movie,” he tells Den of Geek.

Here’s how much Jodie Foster cares about preserving justice: In her new film “The Mauritanian,” Foster plays an attorney who decides to defend a man suspected of being “the head recruiter of 9/11” — or, as one general puts it, who “recruited the guys who flew your friend’s plane into the South tower.”
The man at the center of it all is Mohamedou Ould Slahi (Tahar Rahim), and he’s been languishing inside a prison cell at Guantanamo Bay without formal charges brought against him and with no expectation of a fair trial. But as Foster goes toe-to-toe with a military prosecutor played by Benedict Cumberbatch, they soon find out there’s a lot more at stake than just one man’s life.
“I’m not just defending him, I’m defending the rule of law,” Foster says in a conversation with Cumberbatch. He replies, “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.

STXfilms has decided to enter this unconventional awards season with a mighty and timely drama, “The Mauritanian,” formerly called “Prisoner 760,” from Scottish director Kevin Macdonald. The film will be released on Feb. 19, 2021, and could echo the same late-breaking awards success that past movies like “Million Dollar Baby” were able to execute. With an impressive cast that includes Tahar Rahim, Jodie Foster, Benedict Cumberbatch and Shailene Woodley, the inspiring true story could resonate with AMPAS voters, especially its large international membership.

The film, which was formerly known as “Prisoner 760.” is based on Mohamedou Ould Slahi’s memoir “Guantánamo Diary,” centers on Slahi (Rahim), who languishes in prison for years without charge or trial until he finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Foster) and her associate Teri Duncan (Woodley). STXinternational also acquired the international rights to the film last fall at the American Film Market and will distribute the movie in the U.K. and Ireland.
Macdonald directs from a screenplay by Michael Bronner and Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani.

It seems a little hard to comprehend now, but Paul W.S. Anderson’s Event Horizon totally flopped back in 1997. The sci-fi horror project just did not find the audience it was looking for, but like many genre films, it went on to became a cult classic.
Starring Sam Neill, Laurence Fishburne, Joely Richardson and Jason Isaacs, Event Horizon sends its characters to explore the titular ship, which disappears and then reappears after opening a rift in the space-time continuum. It’s all downhill for them after that, as a nightmare of discovery unfolds at a brisk pace. Of course, it’s set at a brisk pace because director Anderson was forced to cut around 35 minutes out of the movie thanks to negative test screening feedback and a subsequently panicked studio in Paramount. We lost a lotta gore that day, friends. A lotta gore.

Well, it looks like the cat is out of the bag. I’ve known for some time now that there has been some drama on the set of Hellboy, but was asked not to report on it. I’ve alluded to it in previous posts regarding the film, but never came right out and said any of the things I heard.
Now The Wrap has shared all of the details regarding the troubled production which saw director Neil Marshall clashing with a couple of producers on the film. If you’ve wondered why Marshall hasn’t been doing any kind of promotion on the film, this is obviously the reason.

A new report suggests that making the new Hellboy movie wasn't the best of times.
Neil Marshall's Hellboy reboot movie isn't getting a lot of love from the critics, and it seems like it was a trial to make behind the scenes, too.
A new report from The Wrap has shed light on a stack of issues that came up during production on the film, most of which were gleaned from insiders who didn't want to be named "because they feared career repercussions for speaking out."
Needless to say, it all makes for some premium yikes reading.
According to the report, director Neil Marshall, who broke out with early-00s horror movies Dog Soldiers and The Descent before helming some of Game Of Thrones' best episodes, repeatedly clashed with two of Hellboy's producers throughout filming, and this boiled over when they fired Marshall's cinematographer of choice,...
A new report suggests that making the new Hellboy movie wasn't the best of times.
Neil Marshall's Hellboy reboot movie isn't getting a lot of love from the critics, and it seems like it was a trial to make behind the scenes, too.

Despite a general sense of disappointment that Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman weren’t going to bring us a third film in their series, many people took the announcement of the Hellboy reboot pretty well. After all, at this point, any movie featuring Big Red is better than none at all, and director Neil Marshall and the rest of the cast and crew talked a pretty good game about bringing the antihero back to his horror roots.
But then that first trailer landed and let’s just say it’s hard to remember a summer blockbuster preview that was so poorly received, with many feeling that rather than a new direction for the character, this looked like a bargain basement knock-off of what del Toro had given us, and with much much worse Hellboy makeup to boot.
And though the general public won’t get to weigh in on...

Hellboy the comic-book character was born of an unholy union of woman and demon. But the latest “Hellboy” movie was born of clashes between director Neil Marshall and two of the film’s 16 producers.
Insiders on the film told TheWrap about a series of disagreements that boiled over when the producers decided to replace Marshall’s go-to cinematographer, Sam McCurdy. Other spats involved rehearsals, star David Harbour and the design of a tree, insiders said.
Two people familiar with the situation said McCurdy was fired simply for doing what Marshall asked him to do, and that producers Lawrence Gordon and Lloyd Levin were trying to send a message to Marshall that despite being the film’s director, Marshall was not in charge.
An attorney for Levin said that was not the case. “While my client will not comment on why Sam McCurdy was fired as that is a private matter,...

It seems like Lionsgate is feeling confident in their upcoming Hellboy reboot because they are reportedly already planning some sequels. While talking to Collider, producer Lloyd Levin says the team is planning for sequel in what he calls a “vague sense.”
Levin goes on to explain that the track has been laid in the comic books of where a sequel would go saying:
“Not in a No. 2 will be this and No. 3 will be that. But you can tell yourself. If this starts with The Wild Hunt, the track is laid from there in the comic books where you could go.”
This first Hellboy reboot was inspired by the Hellboy comic arcs of Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt, and two sets of interconnecting mini-series in The Storm and The Fury. If the film series follows the comic arcs, it would most likely lead to the Hellboy in Hell story arc...

At the moment, things aren’t looking too promising for Neil Marshall’s reboot of Hellboy. After a wildly disappointing first trailer, coupled with the fact that the film has to follow on from Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman’s beloved take on the character, box office projections are forecasting an underwhelming theatrical run for the movie. Whether you’re on board with the project or not though, it seems that the producers are still holding out hope that things will turn out alright in the end.
Speaking with Collider during a set visit, producer Lloyd Levin noted that the team is already planning for sequels in a “very very vague sense.” He was quick to note though that nothing is set in stone just yet and it isn’t a “this is happening in Hellboy 2-type scenario.” Instead, they just have a kind of roadmap of where sequels...
