An advert for Solaris at the back of Michael Coney's book "Syzygy" says that "Solaris is in the constellation of Alphia in Aquarius". This is confusing, since Aquarius is itself a constellation, not an area of the sky.
Although he was a professional writer, when he typed his manuscripts, he would type using only two of his fingers.
In 2003 he received an honorary doctorate degree in computer science
from the University of Bielefeld.
