Demerise Lafleur managed and administered business affairs functions
for key independent production companies, and is a credited Producer on
a dozen features since the early 90s and many documentary and TV
titles starting in the mid 80s. Her experience with the administration
underlying financing and compliance of production and distribution is
broad-ranging and has earned her the respect of financing counsels and
treaty regulators on both sides of the Atlantic.
Demerise began in the film industry in 1988 administering sales and acquisitions producer/distributor Lightscape Internationals' 250 feature and documentary titles. During that time she came to oversee the administration of new productions in the independent art house and documentary worlds attending markets and becoming hands on in promotional launches of key pictures.
Demerise subsequently undertook contracts with other distributors, including Omega Films and Oasis Pictures developing market specific campaign elements for many titles.
Demerise was engaged in a Business Affairs capacity in Producers Network Associates Inc (PNA) where she was hands on in the closing of several feature titles. Her US experience included administering business affairs of the production of Wish You Were Dead a production jointly funded by Newmarket and Icon Films (UK).
In the early '91, Demerise took a sabbatical from the film industry, accepting a key 4-year administration position in the office Marilyn Churley MPP, Minister of Consumer and Commercial Affairs for the Province of Ontario.
In 1995, she joined the Greystone Entertainment team. Working with producers and closing counsel, she oversaw the administration of multi-party international co-production closings beginning with Carver's Gate, 2103 The Deadly Wake.
From 1998-2002 she joined The Danforth Studios Ltd, (the company that gave management rise to SpaceWorks) in a business affairs capacity, including working closely on the tri-partite co-productions _"Starhunter" and subsequently "Starhunter 2300". Demerise is a senior Producer on "Ice Planet".
