- Walter Ladengast was born on July 4, 1899 in Vienna, Austria-Hungary [now Austria]. He was an actor, known for Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser (1974) and Märchen vom Glück (1949). He died on July 3, 1980 in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany.

In films from 1928, his career did not pick up significantly until the 1970's when he was 'rediscovered' by the director Werner Herzog and prominently cast as vampire hunter Van Helsing in Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979).
