Vanilla Ice is recalling the time Madonna popped the question when they briefly dated in the early 1990s, and it freaked him out!
The 55-year-old rapper divulged the nugget while on the “Just Jenny with Jenny Hutt” podcast and revealed they actually met when he was performing at a sold-out show at the famed Hollywood Palladium theatre in Los Angeles. He said he saw her dancing her butt off and surrounded by a large entourage.
Later, while backstage, the “Ice Ice Baby” rapper says he noticed Madonna making “sexy eyes” at him. He didn’t think the flirtation was directed at him, so he didn’t pay much attention. But that all changed when Sbk Records co-founder Charles Koppelman, Hutt’s father, told the rapper Madonna wanted to meet him. Vanilla Ice couldn’t believe it. He was in shock.

Continuing the festival’s policy of recognizing those individuals whose intuitions and skills have left their mark on film history, the 68th edition will see the Vision Award - Nescens awarded to Walter Murch, the editor and sound designer (a term he coined himself). This award follows those previously attributed to such major creative talents in American cinema as special effects wizard Douglas Trumbull and “Mister Steadicam®” Garrett Brown.
Murch’s career has embraced first sound and then film editing as well, pursuing a concept of audio-visual composition that treats the two as inseparable.
His name is closely linked to the new generation of directors who emerged in the 1970s, such as George Lucas ("Thx 1138," 1971; "American Graffiti," 1973) and Francis Ford Coppola ("The Rain People," 1969; "The Godfather," 1972; "The Conversation," "The Godfather: Part II," 1974). His hugely impressive work with the latter filmmaker, as sound designer on "Apocalypse Now," won him his first Oscar in 1980.
Following his own directorial debut in 1985 with "Return to Oz," he subsequently won two more Academy Award statuettes for both sound and film editing on Anthony Minghella’s "The English Patient" (1996) – the first and only time in history the same person has won the Oscar in both categories. Although in this respect he was repeating an earlier record set when he won double BAFTA awards in 1975 for "The Conversation."
Murch has continually developed his editing talent and versatility, experimenting with every new and emerging system, from analogue to digital. His knowledge and artistry were distilled in his 2001 book, In the Blink of an Eye, an indispensable work of reference in the film editing world. He is also the subject of Michael Ondaatje's The Conversations: Walter Murch and The Art of Film Editing and Charles Koppelman's Behind the Seen.
Carlo Chatrian, the Festival’s Artistic Director, comments: “Having Walter Murch here, apart from the honor of his presence, also highlights the thinking behind this award, instituted two years ago. As Francis F. Coppola has written, « he is a true pioneer. A man we should listen to with great attention – and pleasure » . The way he works goes far beyond conventional notions of collaboration. The work on "The Godfather: Part II" or "Apocalypse Now," for example, prove that the great films are nearly always the outcome of a close working relationship between major creative talents. And it is to one of the most subtle and influential of these that the Locarno Festival pays tribute this year .”
Both the general public and the guests of the Festival will have an opportunity to meet Walter Murch and discover the secrets of his methods during a masterclass in Locarno. The Vision Award is supported for the second consecutive year by Nescens, Swiss anti-aging science.
The 68th edition of the Festival del film Locarno will take place 5 – 15 of August.

New York - Martha Stewart is planning a return to the board of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, the company she founded, in the back half of the year, when a five-year period that was part of her settlement over insider trading charges ends, the New York Post reported.
Stewart spent five months in prison after being convicted of lying to investigators about a 2001 sale of Imclone shares. A settlement for a related civil case with the SEC from Aug. 2006 barred her from serving as a board member or officer in a public company for five years.
Mslo chairman Charles Koppelman confirmed to the Post that Stewart is eligible later this year to join the board and carry a corporate officer title.
"She's eligible. She could come on the board, and I'm sure she would want to," said Koppelman. "Why wouldn't she? As Martha would say, 'It's a good thing'." But...

Crown Media reversed a quarterly loss and its Hallmark Movie Channel is growing subscribers faster than any other Nielsen-rated network, but investors were unimpressed and the stock fell 4% to $2.80 despite a powerful rally Wednesday on Wall Street.
Net income was $5.9 million in the third quarter compared with a loss of $10.2 million in the year-ago quarter. Revenue was about flat at $62.5 million.
Hallmark Movie Channel, buoyed by its recent decision to be rated by Nielsen, added 15 million subscribers and ended the quarter with 38.2 million.
Management on Wednesday promoted the new block of programming on its Hallmark Channel dubbed Home, which is anchored by The Martha Stewart Show.
Last week, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia reported that its quarterly broadcast revenue fell 47% to $5.8 million because its flagship TV show was making the transition from being syndicated to making its home at the Hallmark Channel.

New York - Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia posted a 47% third-quarter broadcast revenue decline Wednesday due to the end of its syndication run and the slow start of its new programming block on the Hallmark Channel.
But management said it is encouraged by recent ratings improvements since a reduction in size to the programming block and reiterated it expects to benefit from the Hallmark deal in the long term.
Executive chairman Charles Koppelman said ratings for the flagship Martha Stewart show are up in the key demos of 18-49 and 25-54 year-olds since the start, and the show's 59.4 median age is down from well above 60 for the show when it was in syndication. [pullquote]

Martha Stewart is no match for Betty White.
Making its move to cable, "The Martha Stewart Show" attracted a cumulative average audience of 394,000 in its debut on the Hallmark Channel on Monday -- down more than 50% from the classic TV repeats that Hallmark aired in the same period last year.
The 10 a.m. broadcast of a new episode of the show reached an average of only 199,000 viewers, according to Nielsen data, down 61% from the 514,000 attracted by a year-ago airing of "Golden Girls."
The 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. replays of that episode attracted an average of 115,000 and 80,000 viewers, respectively. That was below the 346,000 and 344,000 recorded by Hallmark in the corresponding time frame last year with "Little House on the Prairie" and "M*A*S*H," or down 67% and 77%, respectively.
In the key female 25-54 demo that Hallmark wants to reach, viewers were down 56% to 48,000 in the 10am slot that aired...

New York -- In a TV commercial, Martha Stewart calls her new partnership with Crown Media's Hallmark Channel "a perfect fit."
The alliance between Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Hallmark Channel kicks in Monday when "The Martha Stewart Show" and other lifestyle programming begin running on the cable network. The move is designed to boost the fortunes of both brands, which have been struggling amid a challenging syndication market and a widening rift between those cable channels that have strong content and personalities and those that don't.
With Stewart becoming the first major TV star to move her syndicated show to cable -- ahead of a similar move by Oprah Winfrey next year (and Conan O'Brien's move from NBC to TBS) -- Hallmark, owned by Crown Media, and Stewart are aiming to become a match made in TV heaven.

New York -- The Hallmark Channel and Martha Stewart are expanding and deepening their relationship.
The network said Tuesday it has acquired the exclusive U.S. TV rights to programming from the library of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia that it will use in a new seven-hour daytime programming block as it refocuses its daytime schedule on lifestyle and home content.
Financial details weren't disclosed.
The deal deepens a relationship struck by the two sides in late January that envisioned a 2 1/2 hour programming block of new Mslo programming anchored by "The Martha Stewart Show," which has so far been a syndicated TV show.
Crown Media-owned Hallmark will launch the new weekday programming block, which runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning Monday, March 29.
It previously announced that "The Martha Stewart Show" along with encores and other new programming would exclusively move to Hallmark in September. Details of the fall schedule are still being determined,...

New York -- Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia posted improved fourth-quarter financials on Wednesday, with management saying TV did better in the period and could strengthen further over time.
Broadcasting "can be an engine for profits," said executive chairman Charles Koppelman on a conference call.
A recent deal to get the day-time Martha Stewart show and other Mslo programming on the Hallmark Channel will allow Stewart to reach viewers and advertisers via a fixed time slot and reruns, build up more talent and showcase the company's merchandise, Koppelman told analysts on the call.
However, first-quarter TV advertising revenue will be down, management said due to the "Martha Stewart Show" and certain timing issues.
Fourth-quarter revenue rose 20% to $87.6 million -- the first gain since the second quarter of 2008.
Broadcasting revenue increased from $11.1 million in the year-ago period to $14.3 million in the fourth quarter driven by higher product integration revenue at the "Martha Stewart Show.
