- Wladyslaw Komar was born on April 11, 1940 in Kaunas, Lithuania. He was an actor, known for Przylbice i kaptury (1986), Pirates (1986) and Blood of the Innocent (1994). He died on August 17, 1998 in Przybiernów, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland.
- He won the gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany, His discipline was shot put.
- Komar was killed along with 1976 Olympic men's pole vault gold medalist, Tadeusz Slusarski, when the vehicle in which they were traveling, following a banquet, was struck by a drunk driver.
