The local police tell the Palm Springs Desert Sun that the vehicle is a white 2000-06 Chevy Tahoe or Gmc Yukon with damage to the passenger-side front hood, bumper, headlight and grill. The car struck Kirst the night of Thursday, Jan. 13. Someone spotted him lying on the side of the road and called the police, thinking the man was drunk.
"We have no evidence of any braking," Sgt. Paul Herrera tells the Desert Sun. "[The driver] made no attempt to stop and fled the scene."
So sad. Our condolences to his friends and family.
