The third season of "Star Trek: Discovery" threw the titular ship forward in time by nearly a millennium, landing the U.S.S. Discovery in a time that was very much different from the one they left. In the distant future, the galaxy was recovering from a massive unexplained cataclysm called The Burn, wherein every single starship using dilithium crystals (that is: pretty much all of them) exploded at the same time. The Federation was wounded and shrank to an almost nonexistent entity, and a mercurial, widespread crime ring called the Emerald Chain rose in its place. The Emerald Chain was made up of greedy, vicious capitalists who used violence and slavery to keep their economic chokehold on the quadrant.
One of the characters the Discovery met in this future dystopia was Ryn (Noah Averbach-Katz), an Andorian who reluctantly served as a slave overseer for the wicked Osyraa (Janet Kidder...

At the beginning of the third season of "Star Trek: Discovery," the titular starship was thrown forward in time to the 32nd century, nearly a millennium from its home time. There, the crew of the Discovery found a very different galaxy. It seems that years before, every starship in the quadrant had exploded in an unpredicted cataclysm called the Burn. In the wake of the disaster, Starfleet went into hiding to rebuild, while control of the galaxy fell into the hands of an evil Orion trading firm called the Emerald Chain. The Emerald Chain brought the previously post-capitalist world of Trek back into a greedy, exploitative, money-forward society, which gave rise to abuse and slavery. It would take the crew of the Discovery a lot of wherewithal to combat the Emerald Chain and help get the ultra-advanced Starfleet back on its feet.

The 2000 film Ginger Snaps (watch it Here) is my all-time favorite werewolf movie. That was followed by a sequel – Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed – and a very unexpected prequel – Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning – and while I’m not as enamored with them as I am with the original movie, I do get some enjoyment out of watching them. The oddball prequel especially. If you’re a fan of Ginger Snaps trilogy as well and happen to have a Region B (or region free) Blu-ray player, you’ll be glad to hear that Second Sight Films is packaging all three movies together in a limited edition UK box set that’s going to be released on October 30th. Just in time for Halloween, which happens to be the setting of the first movie.
Copies of the Ginger Snaps trilogy Blu-ray box set can be pre-ordered directly from Second Sight Films.

“I’m a lifelong Trekkie and working on the show is this dream come true experience,” makeup supervisor and prosthetic department head Glenn Hetrick says about his job as the leader of a passionate team of artists on “Star Trek: Discovery.”
“With this show, you’re making a major motion picture every episode, or every two episodes,” he declares proudly of the sheer volume and scope of designs that a show like this demands each season. “These Silicon makeups that we’re doing on this show for characters that worked for two episodes used to be reserved for feature film-level main villain only. And we’re pulling them off in weeks,” he explains. Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Janet Kidder is the kind of actress who doesn’t always get the credit she deserves. Those who are familiar with her work, however, know that she’s worthy of all the praise. Not only has she managed to work consistently since since the late 90s, but she has been apart of some very cool projects along the way. From movies to TV shows, Janet’s versatility has allowed her to have access to dozens of opportunities. At this point in her career she is probably best-known for her role as Osyraa in the series Star Trek: Discovery. In 2021, she also made

This article contains spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 12, “There Is a Tide…”
Remember that time when Admiral James T. Kirk pretended to be a socialist so he didn’t have to pay the bill on a pizza date? In Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Dr. Gillian Taylor (Catherine Hicks) rolls her eyes as Kirk is taken-aback about having to pay for the pizza and one round of Michelob beers. Gillian says, “Don’t tell me that they don’t have money in the 23rd Century.” Kirk replies faux-innocently, “Well, we don’t!”
Even by that point, Trekkies knew that Kirk was playing dumb. This is the same Kirk who successfully staged a hostile takeover of a gangster planet in “A Piece of the Action,” and was more than a little bit familiar with the belly-dancer cafe scene on the planet Argelius II in “Wolf in the Fold.

This Trekkie has to say he’s pretty excited about where “Star Trek: Discovery” is going. Because he has no idea where it’s going!
Season 3, and the jump to the year 3188 with its attendant mystery of “What caused the Burn?,” hasn’t really turned out like we thought, huh? The obvious answer to the season-long mystery would have been some sinister power from “Trek” past, possibly setting up a Dominion War-like arc for the future. Instead, the Burn was caused by a Kelpien man-child’s emotional distress and his unique ability to inflict his damage on the whole galaxy. Hardly a villain. Though it seems like they’ll have to “stop” Su’Kal somehow before he can trigger another Burn, won’t they?
The only real villain we’re facing right now is Osyraa (Janet Kidder), the Orion pirate lord who captured Discovery at the end of the previous episode.

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers for “The Sanctuary.”
After the hugely nostalgic trip to Ni’Var in “Unification III,” you’d think that Discovery might be briefly done with a ton of callbacks to previous eras of Trek. With Episode 8, “Sanctuary,” that guess is partially correct. When Burnham and Book hit-up Book’s home planet of Kwejian, the vast majority of what happens on that planet doesn’t have roots in old Trek canon, because, Kwejian — at least for Burnham — is a strange new world. That said, the rest of the episode still has more than a handful of references to the Final Frontier that came before. Here’s every Easter egg and reference we caught in Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 8, “Sanctuary.”

We’ve got a new trailer to share with you for the Facebook Watch series adaptation of the popular podcast series Limetown. I just started listening to the podcast for the first time. I’m a few episodes in, and I’m loving it! This is shaping up to be a great story!
The series stars Jessica Biel, who takes on the role Lia Haddock, and Stanley Tucci is also in the series taking on the role of Emile, Lia’s uncle. Both are talented actors and are sure to be great in the series. I’ve liked what I’ve seen from the show so far, and I’ll definitely be watching it.
The story follows Lia Haddock (Biel), "a journalist for American Public Radio (Apr), who “unravels the mystery behind the disappearance of over 300 people at a neuroscience research community in Tennessee.”

Lifetime‘s “The College Admissions Scandal” will premiere Oct. 12. Jessica Biel takes podcasting to a whole new level in the trailer for her new Facebook Watch drama series, “Limetown.”
In the video above, which was released Friday, ahead of the show’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, you’ll see Lia Haddock (Biel), a journalist for American Public Radio (Apr) try to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of over 300 people at a neuroscience research community in Tennessee via her podcast.
And, uh, there are very clearly some people who don’t want Lia getting to the bottom of this vanishing act, as Stanley Tucci’s character warns. But that’s fine, as Lia makes it clear they’ll have to kill her before she’ll stop podcasting/trying to solve this case.

Jessica Biel's next TV role is coming to Facebook Watch!
The streamer has dropped the first trailer for Limetown, a brand new thriller series which finds Biel's Lia Haddock driven to the depths of despair when things go awry in a small town.
Lia “unravels the mystery behind the disappearance of more than 300 people at a neuroscience research community in Tennessee,” according to the official logline.
The character is an investigative journalist who is producing a radio show focusing on the disappearance of Limetown.
Her entire world has been shaped by the tragedy, more so because her uncle was one of the people lost.
She is described as "smart, fearless, and willing to sacrifice anything for the truth."
Stanley Tucci is on board as Emile, Lia's missing uncle. He was once Lia's caretaker before leaving the family while she was young.

Sure, Ruve (Janet Kidder) may be the wife of a supervillain and isn't the nicest lady in the world, but that doesn't mean she deserves to get shot in the face, does it? The Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) certainly doesn't think so, because he quickly shows up to stop Diggle from making a big mistake. Press play...

Season 2 of Showcase’s Continuum (currently airing on Friday nights at 10pm on Syfy) is up and running and we spoke with star Erik Knudsen whose character, Alec Sadler is the most important character of the sci-fi series. In the first season, Sadler was Kiera Cameron’s (Rachel Nichols) high tech teenage sidekick and only friend after she time traveled back to 2012, from the year 2077 to stop a terrorist group from her time called Liber8. With Alec’s help, Kiera hopes to preserve the past and find a way back to the future and reunite with her family. But at the start of this season, we find out that it was Sadler from the future (played by William B. Davis) who purposely selected Kiera and Liber8 to change history and to make sure a world where corporations run the world does not exist. Following in the footsteps of fellow former wrestlers Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kane Hodder, Steve Austin’s recent forays into acting have generally been forgettable. However, unlike Johnson’s constant action man status and Hodder’s typecasting as a horror villain, Austin at least attempts to tackle something more than the benign with Born to Fight, released this week on Blu-ray and DVD.
Matthew’s (Daniel Magder) first day at his new school inevitably turns sour when his nerd-like tendencies soon attract the attention of the school bullies, most notably the school’s undisputed boxing champ Hector (Jaren Brandt Bartlett). When an innocent initiation challenge leads him to being humiliated and roughed up by Hector, in steps the janitor, a muscle-bound retired fighter named Dan (Steve Austin), who comes to Matthew’s rescue and suggests that he joins the school’s boxing club. Acting against his mother’s wishes,...

Born To Fight
Stars: ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Daniel Magder, Jaren Brandt Bartlett, Janet Kidder, Emma Grabinsky | Written by Evan Jacobs, Jack Nasser | Directed by Anne Wheeler
Former WWE superstar ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is back with Born To Fight, aka Knockout, another direct to DVD movie for producer Jack Nasser, who both previously worked together on Damage, The Stranger and the awesome Hunt to Kill. Besides producing Nasser also co-writes, with Evan Jacobs (Doughboys), this Karate Kid-esque underdog story of a nerd who learns to box, get the girl and beat the high school bully.

Yep, there’s no “II” in the onscreen title. And that’s appropriate, because against the odds, here’s a sequel to a video-driven genre favorite that stands on its own four paws as an accomplished horror film, one that stays true to the original’s themes without depending on its memory to carry it. After a theatrical run in it's native Canada, Unleashed went the straight-to-video route in the U.S., which is a shame, as it can easily stand up against most of what the major studios have given us lately in the fright field.
