10. Blackboard Jungle
Billed as "a brass-knuckle punch in its startling revelation of teenage savages" and based on the book of the same name by Evan Hunter – aka crime writer Ed McBain – who drew on his own experiences as a teacher in the Bronx – Blackboard Jungle ushered in the age of the teenage delinquent. In London, Brooks's film attracted crowds of Teddy Boys, who slashed cinema seats, danced in the aisles and actually started a riot.
The reason for such shocking behaviour wasn't so much the film's content, which today garners a more sober 12 rating, but because of the use of...

Back at the beginning of July in the daily Briefs, I started the Official snicks Top 100 Lost Hits of The 80's, spotlighting the 100 greatest minor hits of that decade. The songs you don't hear on any 80's nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty ... or top forty, and over the last five months I hope some of these forgotten gems may have rung a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provided a pop music history lesson.
Here is the complete list, including my favorite lost song of the decade. Thank you for taking this 80's road trip with me ... but it's not over yet! I'll be featuring a new Lost Hit once a week in the Wednesday Briefs, so the history lesson will continue!
Let the countdown commence, and remember ... keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars!

Mark Cherry trial. In ratings news, Happy Endings continues its steady rise, this week up 17%.David Krumholtz is finalizing a deal to play the other lead opposite Michael Urie in the CBS pilot Partners. David has done plenty in Hollywood (including playing Mr. Universe in Serenity), but to me he'll always be Wednesday's first love in Addams Family Values. Pete Townshend, The Feeling and Boy George were part of a star-studded line up that rocked the Royal Albert Hall for The Prince’s Trust Rock Gala supported by Novae.
The music extravaganza, hosted by Edith Bowman and Patrick Kielty, raised vital funds – and the roof – for the youth charity’s vital work with disadvantaged young people. The fundraiser comes in the wake of news that more than a million 16 to 24 year-olds are out of work, the highest number since records began in 1992.
A long list of Prince’s Trust supporters performed at the Rock Gala – the tenth in The Trust’s history – including singer songwriters Chris De Burgh, Nik Kershaw, Julian Lennon, Cerys Matthews, Alison Moyet and Joss Stone , rock legends Kenney Jones, Mark King and Midge Ure, urban saxophonist YolanDa Brown, classical music star Charlie Siem and comedian and musician Tim Minchin.
