While we gloat over the achievements of Tinseltown, we should ask ourselves if Schindler’s List, Steven Spielberg’s 1993 moving historical drama, could have come to fruition without the support of any super alliance. The Ohio-born director, 77, himself expressed his deep appreciation for the decisive support he received from none other than, George Lucas, his loyal comrade.
Earlier this year, Spielberg discussed in detail the paramount role that Lucas had in the creation of Schindler’s List. Indeed, thanks to Lucas and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, who was in the US completing Jurassic Park’s sound mixing, Spielberg was able to work effectively on the moving and impactful Holocaust flick.

Spielberg even remembered saying, “George, I am in trouble”, when he reached out to Lucas. That being said, both Schindler’s List and Jurassic Park became timeless masterpieces because of Lucas’ helping hands and generosity.

Kathleen Kennedy has been regarded as one of the most hated people to be a part of the Star Wars franchise. Working as the president of Lucasfilm, it is as though every failure the franchise faces has been put on her back. Regardless of who is responsible for a project’s unfortunate performance, she is subjected to the brunt of the criticism from fans and critics alike.

Despite all of the hate that she gets, there is absolutely no doubt that she is good at what she does. Having started as a producer, she worked on an impressive number of highly successful projects, ultimately joining George Lucas’ side as co-chairman of Lucasfilm until she became president. Their dynamic took them to many places, making the Mark Hamill franchise as successful as it is today.

“House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon will co-write the script for “Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi.”
He’ll pen the Lucasfilm project alongside James Mangold, who will also direct the film. It will trace the origins of the Force and will be set 25,000 years before any other “Star Wars” project previously seen.
“It’s a chance to tell the entire story of its own, the birth of the force,” Mangold told Variety in 2023 when the film was announced. “When I first talked to Kathy Kennedy about it, I just said, ‘I just see this opening to make kind of a ‘Ben-Hur’ or ‘The 10 Commandments’ about the birth of the force.’ The force has become a kind of religious legend that spans through all these movies. But where did it come from? How is it found? Who found it? Who was the first Jedi? And that’s what I’m writing right now.

Guillermo del Toro confirmed on X/Twitter that he planned to direct a “Star Wars” movie around four years ago from a script by David S. Goyer, best known known for writing superhero movies such as “Batman Begins,” “Man of Steel” and more. The project never made it past development, but Goyer confirmed on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that “a lot of cool art work” was produced for it.
“I wrote an un-produced ‘Star Wars’ movie that Guillermo del Toro was going to direct. That was about four years ago,” Goyer said. “There was a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on at Lucasfilm at the time. It’s a cool script… you have to ask him about it. There is a lot of cool art work from it that was produced.”
Del Toro shared Goyer’s interview on X/Twitter and added: “True. Can’t say much.

The texts were ringing like crazy this morning. “Are you in Maui? Are you okay?” Fortunately, yes, just fine. But Maui, the second-biggest Island in Hawaii, continues to fight massive wildfires that started Tuesday and virtually destroyed the classic town of Lahaina (capital of Hawaii at one time) and a tourist mecca.
Flames have reportedly destroyed hundreds of homes and some businesses in a paradise that has long been a favorite getaway — and even home for many entertainment luminaries, including Oprah Winfrey, Clint Eastwood, Steven Tyler, Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Kris Kristofferson and Jeff Bezos, among many more. Mick Fleetwood not only lives on the island, but has a popular restaurant, Fleetwood’s On Front Street, that was situated right in the path of where the fire was most fierce in picturesque Lahaina, a city described now as looking like a bombed-out war zone.

While we’re still several years out from Star Wars returning to the big screen, we’ve got enough Star Wars TV shows to keep us busy. One of those shows is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, described as “a story about a group of kids, about 10 years old, from a tiny little planet who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. And it’s the story of their journey trying to find their way home.” While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Skeleton Crew co-creator Chris Ford and star Jude Law dropped a few teases about the upcoming Star Wars series
Skeleton Crew creators Chris Ford and Jon Watts wanted to make a Star Wars series that felt like an Amblin movie similar to E.T. or The Goonies. “Skeleton Crew‘s tone is an adventure,” Ford said. “We wanted it to be a lot of fun. But of course, along with...

This week at HeyUGuys towers, everything is all about Indy. The franchise reaches a dramatic final chapter with the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny this week, and to mark this joyous occasion, we were thrilled to be able to sit in and take part in the film’s official press conference, as the legendary actor Harrison Ford was joined by his cast-mates Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen, alongside the film’s director, James Mangold. See below for a selection of the best bits from the event.
James, how was it for you as a director to take on this massive and long-popular franchise?
James Mangold: Thrilling, inspiring. One of the most attractive parts of jumping on board this endeavour was the company that I got to keep. I grew up admiring these movies. I grew up admiring Harrison, Steven, Kathy Kennedy, George Lucas, John Williams.

The past, present and future of Star Wars was on ample display on Friday at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention, as Lucasfilm unveiled the most robust look yet at the company’s plans for the hallowed franchise. As studio chief Kathleen Kennedy revealed three new feature films and first looks at four upcoming TV series, Lucasfilm made clear it aims to test just how far it can stretch the Star Wars galaxy: creatively, logistically and even historically.
Starting with “The Phantom Menace” and concluding with “The Rise of Skywalker,” the previous nine “Star Wars” movies have all taken place within a roughly 70-year timeline, straddling the climactic Battle of Yavin in “A New Hope” that has served as the official fulcrum point for the franchise for six decades. Every live-action and animated spinoff TV series has unfolded within that timeframe, including the shows launched on Disney+: “The Mandalorian,...

Dave Filoni and James Mangold are set to direct two new “Star Wars” movies, Lucasfilm revealed on Friday.
The directors will helm two separate films in the franchise. Meanwhile, a third movie that centers on Daisy Ridley’s Rey will be directed by Emmy- and Oscar-winning helmer Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy made the shock announcement at the studio’s showcase during London’s Star Wars Celebration, where fans were expecting the announcement of a single film and were pleasantly surprised by a trifecta of projects.
Mangold’s movie will go back to the dawn of the Jedi, while Filoni’s project will focus on the New Republic, and “close out” the interconnected stories that are told in series including “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” “Ahsoka” and other Disney+ shows.

“The Mandalorian” is (finally) back for a third season. But what lies ahead?
Well, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his unlikely companion Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), are still traversing around the galaxy. Currently, the Mandalorian is on a quest to redeem himself in the eyes of his elders, who disowned him after he took off his helmet. It feels like the world of “The Mandalorian” is getting bigger and more dangerous, so there’s no telling what the masked man and his little cohort will face this season.
But if there’s one man who knows what lies ahead, it’s Dave Filoni, executive producer and writer on the show. He helps steer the show’s creative vision with creator Jon Favreau. A veteran of earlier animated projects at Lucasfilm (back when it was still owned by George Lucas), Filoni is in many ways the keeper of the “Star Wars” flame,...

Ron Howard isn’t all that surprised that a Willow sequel now exists in the form of a Disney+ series. After all, Willow mastermind George Lucas always believed that a TV series would be the optimal way to expand the world of Willow, and the idea has been kicked around ever since Lucas and Howard collaborated on the latter’s 1988 film.
In retrospect, Howard credits Lucas and Willow for teaching him how to helm effects-heavy films on a larger canvas. He also learned a great deal about narrative, especially when writer Joseph Campbell came to visit Lucas during the development of Willow. Campbell’s book The Hero with a Thousand Faces served as the foundation for all of Lucas’ mythological narratives.
“We wound up around George’s [Lucas] dinner table, telling [Joseph Campbell] the entire story of Willow, and so he told us the origins of the myths that we were borrowing from,...

Tony Kushner has worked with Steven Spielberg a whopping four times on four completely different movies: 2005’s thorny political thriller “Munich;” 2012’s historical biography “Lincoln;” 2021’s epic musical “West Side Story;” and most recently, 2022’s autobiographical “The Fabelmans,” the story of how Steven Spielberg became Steven Spielberg. Only one other screenwriter, David Koepp, has collaborated with the filmmaker as often (and they had a fifth project in pre-production that fell apart at the eleventh hour). Kushner and Spielberg’s ongoing collaboration is perhaps the most important of either artist’s career.
So sitting down with Kushner to talk about “The Fabelmans” and his journey with Spielberg, it was easy to feel intimidated. (One rarely gets to talk to a Pulitzer Prize winner.) But Kushner was warm and open about their collaboration and its difficulties – including where they might be headed next.

Los Angeles, Oct 3 (Ians) Hollywood star Christian Bale really wants to have a cameo role in a ‘Star Wars’ film.
Desperate to appear in the franchise for several years, the 48-year-old actor would even be happy just to play a masked stormtrooper with no lines, so he’d feel incredibly “fortunate” if he was offered a part in the movie world which was “more than that,” reports aceshowbiz.com.
“All I ever wanted in ‘Star Wars’ was to be in a ‘Star Wars’ outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
“The real nerds who watched ‘Star Wars’ way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be that guy. That was it. But look, if I’m fortunate enough to be more than that,...

Christian Bale has played Batman in three “Dark Knight” movies, battled lethal machines in “Terminator Salvation” and assassinated gods in “Thor: Love and Thunder”, yet the one thing he’s yet to do is appear in a movie set in a galaxy far, far away.

Christian Bale Reveals The One ‘Star Wars’ Role That Could Persuade Him To Join The Disney Franchise
Christian Bale has made fresh fans with his recent appearance as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder, but there’s one role in another franchise that he would entertain – to satisfy the kid in him.
The star of the Dark Knight trilogy and Oscar winner (for The Fighter in 2011) told The Hollywood Reporter he could be persuaded to join the Star Wars franchise – but only to continue the work of the famous but unidentified stormtrooper who banged his head on the doorframe in the background of A New Hope.

The opening ceremony for the much anticipated new attraction, “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” is taking place at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., with appearances from George Lucas, Disney CEO Bob Iger, and more.
Lucasfilm head Kathy Kennedy and “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill will also speak at the dedication.
Batuu, a remote trading outpost that will include a full-size Millennium Falcon, is the setting for Galaxy’s Edge, which encompass 14 acres and open on May 31 in Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and on Aug. 29 in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Bay Lake, Fla.
The planet is meant to look like it has existed for thousands of years. Even the trees must support the concept, just as they would on a film set. Designers chose the tall cork oak near where the Millennium Falcon is docked because it appears weather-beaten and battered, enhancing the idea that the Falcon’s thrusters have damaged it.

Oscar Isaac has been a very busy man these last few years – so much so that he plans to take a break from acting after Star Wars: Episode IX. And to make things just a little more stressful, a co-star from one Isaac’s many projects this decade decided to mess with the actor as he tried to land his now-familiar role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
