Kate Mara is speaking out in support of NFL players who choose to kneel during the national anthem.
“I believe everybody has a constitutional right to stand, or kneel or sit during the national anthem,” the “Pose” actress tells Variety. “So, I stand by the player’s decision whatever that might be.”
While Mara has made a name for herself as an actress in both television and film, her family also happens to co-own the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants. She is a great-granddaughter of both Giants founder Tim Mara and Steelers founder Art Rooney, Sr.
Her words of support for players protesting during the anthem come on the heels of her uncle and Giants co-owner John Mara’s involvement in helping shape the NFL’s controversial new policy to fine teams if their players kneel during the anthem.

Chris Christieâ.s former deputy chief of staff broke her silence on the Bridgegate scandal for the first time in three years, testifying Friday that the New Jersey governor knew about Fort Lee lane closures one month before they started in September 2013.
Bridget Kelly is on trial for allegedly plotting with two other former Christie allies to close lanes on the George Washington Bridge connecting New York and New Jersey. Prosecutors say Kelly sent the infamous “time for some traffic problems” email as part of a revenge plot against a Democratic mayor who wouldnâ.t endorse the Republican governorâ.s 2013 re-election bid.

A report from the internal investigation regarding the so-called "Bridgegate," the lane closures of the George Washington Bridge, has cleared New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and points to former deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly.
Bridget Anne Kelly: A Woman Scorned
According to the report, Kelly closed the lanes on the bridge because she was “emotional” after having been dumped by her boyfriend, Bill Stepien, Christie’s previous deputy chief of staff. Kelly has since been fired.
“Kelly had become Deputy Chief of Staff, assuming the post left vacant by her predecessor, Stepien, who had departed in April 2013 to run the Governor’s re-election campaign. Because Stepien was her ‘benefactor,’ Kelly relied heavily on him during this transition. And at some point after Stepien’s departure to run the campaign, Kelly and Stepien became personally involved, although, by early August 2013, their personal relationship had cooled, apparently at Stepien’s choice,...

Source: Getty The Internet's been having a field day with what's been dubbed New Jersey's "bridgegate" or "Bridgeghazi" scandal, with everyone from Jimmy Fallon to Ellen DeGeneres weighing in on the issue. Governor Chris Christie held a nearly two-hour press conference last Thursday to address a traffic jam that was allegedly planned by his advisers as political retribution, and he followed up with another press conference on Tuesday. Christie, who was recently reelected as the state's governor this past November, admitted that he's "ultimately responsible" for how events transpired. Although the incident would be awkward for any politician, it's drawing special attention this time, because Christie is rumored to be running for president in 2016. The Background This past September, Fort Lee, NJ, experienced a four-day traffic jam as people tried to leave the city via the George Washington Bridge. Reports surfaced that the jam may have been caused by Christie...

Orchestrating traffic jams on the nation’s busiest bridge to spite an opposing mayor sounds exactly like something a president Shouldn’T be doing. So with the governor of New Jersey facing an absurd scandal, are his chances to be Head of State plummeting?
Until a few days ago, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was considered the frontrunner to represent the Republican party in the 2016 Presidential Election. But that was before he started facing allegations that he and his office purposely created a traffic nightmare near the George Washington Bridge as an act of political vengeance against a Democratic mayor. So what does Chris Christie’s future look like now?
Gov. Chris Christie: No Longer A Good Presidential Candidate?
Over the years, Christie has built an unblemished record as a model Republican and with an election coming up in 2016, it appeared that all the hard work was finally going...

It's possible Rita Ora -- Jay-z's new Next Big Thing -- has already been stuck in your head. After all, she's the charming British singer who took the words "party and bullshit" from Biggie and turned them into "How We Do (Party)," a song that's catchy enough to make it the "Party in the U.S.A." for the throw-your-diamonds-in-the-sky crowd.

The CW has canceled "Ringer." Sadly for Sarah Michelle Gellar, her small screen comeback will not see a Season 2.
Gellar played twin sisters Bridget Kelly and Siobhan Martin on the 22-episode series, which premiered last September to mediocre ratings at 2.8 million, but slipped down to 1.2 million by the season finale.
"The Secret Circle" has also been yanked from The CW's schedule after only one season. The supernatural drama, which aired following "The Vampire Diaries" on Thursday nights, failed to see successful ratings throughout the 22-episode season.
But in more positive news for The CW ... "Gossip Girl," "Hart Of Dixie," "90210," "Supernatural," "The Vampire Diaries," and "Nikita" have all been picked up for another season.
Additionally, "The Carrie Diaries," "Arrow," "Beauty And The Beast," "Cult" and "First Cut" have all been ordered to series.

Miss me kids? I missed you, though you're always in great hands with Louis, who was kind to fill in for me on top of his other duties. I try not to do it to him often. Of course, I'm doing it again in a couple weeks. Remember when I went last year and spoke to OUTLaw at Washington & Lee Law School last year? They're having a debate between Maggie Gallagher and Andrew Sullivan April 4th at 6Pm and invited me back. Plus it gets me some rare face time with our fearless leader, Dennis.
But on to things that matter, like the fact that Smash has been renewed for a second season. It's uneven, but I really am hopeful for the show. One major change is that creator/showrunner Theresa Rebeck won't be back, but will live on in Debra Messing's character, who was loosely based on her.

Hey guys, remember Ringer? That show about Buffy and Buffy's slightly less hookerish twin who hangs out in hotels in Fake Paris and one of them's pregnant but I can't remember which? Well, it's back!!
After taking a week off to scrub the mess from Gemma's Fra (Feria-Related Accident) off the walls, the CW's twisty, sudsy, and increasingly preposterous (and I mean that as a compliment) drama was back this week. Was it worth the wait? Let's dig in and find out!

Gemma's still missing (presumed dead), and Agent Eyeliner Machado (Nestor Carbonell) has teamed up with NYPD because of the Bridget Kelly DNA that Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) herself planted in the dumpster (to protect Henry, who didn't actually do it anyway). Every week on Ringer, Bridget Kelly dances faster and faster, trying to keep up with her web of lies. But it may be too late now.
Finally Bridget (as Siobhan) has to tell everyone that she has a twin she's been hiding. Juliet's reaction was perfect. "Oh Gawd, There's Two of Them?" Other than that, the teen really didn't care. She had a party to get to.
What was Andrew thinking when he said Juliet could run off to Connecticut with her new friend? Seemed like a lot of trust to place in a girl who really hasn't earned any lately. I gave him some credit for at least calling Monica's parents but Juliet finding trouble this weekend was a given.
At least he finally took away something the girl really cared about. The money. That certainly got her attention. Not that she'll starve but life without her limitless credit cards should be more interesting.

Have you been watching Ringer? Seriously, the show keeps getting better. But if you haven't been convinced to give it a try, here's another reason you should: Sarah Michelle Gellar will soon be joined by another Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum!
In the season's 10th episode, Amber Benson will join the show, playing a stripper/informant for Agent Machando. I don't know why a stripper would have any information on Bridget Kelly/Siobhan Martin, but I guess that will be explained in the six episodes we have to watch before Benson appears.
Benson is best known for her role on Buffy as Tara Maclay, the charming and sheepish witch who first appeared in the series' fourth season. Benson made history when her character hooked up with fellow witch Willow (played by Alyson Hannigan), as the pair became the first lesbian couple portrayed on U.S. television.

Check out these new photos from Ringer Episode 5, “A Whole New Kind Of Bitch.” The gallery features Zoey Deutch as Juliet, Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Siobhan Martin/Bridget Kelly, Kris Polaha as Henry and Tara Summers as Gemma. In “A Whole New Kind Of Bitch” Gemma (Tara Summers) asks Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who is still posing as Siobhan, to do her a favor that could cost Bridget everything. Henry (Kristoffer Polaha) is given some crushing news about his writing career, and Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd) has to deal with his tumultuous relationship with his teenage daughter Juliet (Zoey Deutch). Bridget meets a potential new sponsor named Charlie (guest star Billy Miller) at a local Narcotics Anonymous meeting, while Malcolm (Mike Colter) must face his demons when he is put in a position that could jeopardize his sobriety. Nestor Carbonell also stars. Janice Cooke directed the episode written by Shintaro.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Returns to TV on the CW's "Ringer"
Sarah Michelle Gellar has returned to television. After years of portraying Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the actress left the small screen for a short stint in feature films as well as family life. As Buffy, Gellar was asked to be both grim and funny, to be vulnerable and indomitable. Her performance mixed with Whedon’s genius created a memorable series and character that went beyond high school being truly hell. Now she is back in the CW series Ringer. Can she woo audiences and her old fans in a new way?
The answer without pandering is too early early to tell. Sure that is a cop out but it is the truth. I always thought Gellar was a versatile actress, Buffy and Cruel Intentions, showed me that. It seems like playing twins, who couldn’t be more opposite from one...

Tonight, Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to series television in a new show for The CW, Ringer. She's not playing a vampire slayer this time around but, as you might expect, her character still has a whole lot of problems.
Gellar stars as Bridget Kelly, a young woman who's been sober for six months and is starting to turn her life around -- until she becomes the sole witness to a professional hit. She's protected by FBI Agent Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell) but flees to NYC to see her estranged twin sister Siobhan (also Gellar). Her sister is living an idyllic life, married to a handsome and wealthy businessman (Ioan Gruffudd). Bridget and Siobhan start to put their past behind them when Siobhan seemingly dies by falling overboard on a boat trip. Bridget makes a quick decision to assume her sister's identity and soon discovers that Siobhan's life...

This week begins what will be a host of premiers over the next month for all the new and returning shows of the fall season. Regardless of what your thoughts may be on this year’s crop, one can’t deny that the main theme across the board seems to be diversity. Shows from all walks of life are dancing (sometimes with stars) around the schedule this year, and perhaps it would be a good idea to pick out some favorites that you should definitely give at least a DVR record. So here are five new and five returning shows that you should be checking out. The New Ringer (The CW) In case you Buffy fans aren’t aware, Sarah Michelle Gellar is making her triumphant return to television this season in her new serialized drama Ringer. The series focuses on Bridget Kelly who, while on the run from the mob, decides...

Ringer is as confusing as it is anticipated.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is playing how many characters?!? Which is in trouble with the law?!? And how is that guy from Lost involved?!?
Extended Ringer Preview
Fortunately, The CW has released the official season premiere description for next Tuesday's opener - a review of which will be live on TV Fanatic the moment the episode concludes - that could make sense of the tangled plot. Check it out below.
Bridget Kelly (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is six-months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness in a murder trial. Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell), Bridget knows her life is on the line. She flees to New York, telling no one, and reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar). Wealthy, pampered and married to the strikingly handsome Andrew Martin...

The CW has sent us over some gallery images for their new new show starring former Buffy Sarah Michelle Gellar, called Ringer. We’ve spent a great deal of time (and will continue to do so) with the numerous Ringer casting developments over the last several months. Gellar double dips as Siobhan Martin and Bridget Kelly, and she’s joined by group that include Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin, Kris Polaha as Henry, Tara Summers as Gemma, Nestor Carbonell as Victor Machado and Mike Colter as Malcolm Ward — all of who are pictured below. Ringer is set to debut this month on September 13th. For your convenience I’ve also reposted the 3-minute series preview that CW released earlier in the summer.

I can't tell you how thrilled I am that Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to television. Sure, she's no longer playing Buffy (one of my favorite shows of all time), but she's back in a new show that I think displays a lot of promise. I've noticed that the critics are divided about Ringer right now, but I enjoyed the pilot episode. The show isn't infallible, but I'm definitely interested in learning what's coming next.
The CW has released promo photos for the pilot of Ringer. Want to brush up on what to expect in the series premiere? Here goes: Gellar plays Bridget Kelly, a former stripper and alcoholic who is starting to turn her life around. After witnessing a murder, she's currently being guarded by FBI agents (including Agent Victor Machado, played by Nestor Carbonell), who want her as a witness. But the danger to her life forces her...

Who out there is not excited for Ringer?!?
The upcoming series marks Sarah Michelle Gellar's return to television, and looks to be an especially intricate, mature drama for The CW. Featuring a strong cast that includes Kris Polaha, Nestor Carbonel, Ioan Gruffudd and Mike Colter, it focuses on the life Bridget Kelly.
This alcoholic is on the run and chooses to meet with her identical twin, only for... nevermind. You want to be surprised, don't you?

New York — A year ago, Jay-z showed why he's music's Emperor of the Empire State with a historic charity concert at Madison Square Garden, which Jay called "the house that Hovie built." On Monday night, "the God Mc" took his mastery of performance to the front stoop of Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, Yankee Stadium. And because that's no setting in which to go small, he brought out special guests like Kanye West, Drake, Chris Martin, Swizz Beatz, Nicki Minaj and, of course, Beyoncé.
After kicking off in Detroit two weeks ago, Jay and Eminem's Home and Home concerts landed on the Jiggaman's soil for shows on Monday and Tuesday (September 14). This time, after J. Cole opened,...

Jay-z and Stevie Wonder tore up the main stage last night for day 2 of the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Around 70,000 people were reportedly in attendence at Bonnaroo for Staruday’s final main-stage show.
Jay-z at Bonnaroo Music Festival
“Wait till I tell my mom Stevie Wonder stayed for my set!” Jay-z yelled to the crowd before tearing into a 90-minute set on the main stage at Bonnaroo. Stevie Wonder, who played a two-hour set before Jay-z, did indeed stay to check out Jay-z’s performance. Although several high profile cameos were speculated for the set, the only guest on stage during Jay-z’s set was Bridget Kelly, who stepped in on “Empire State of Mind”.
Meanwhile, over at the Bonnaroo comedy tent, Conan O’Brien joked with the crowd that he loves “nothing more than doing comedy in a tent at one in the afternoon for people who...

Alec Baldwin knew he had a lot to live up to after Betty White's big "Saturday Night Live" debut last week.
A promo for "SNL's" 35th season finale had Baldwin promising, "It will make you forget about old whats-her-name." Musical guest Tom Petty refreshes his memory.
But Baldwin's opening monologue referenced the octogenarian right off the bat, and then a special "satellite" (a.k.a. taped) appearance by Steve Martin did it again. "I'd like to thank all my friends at Facebook Mexico," says Martin, in reference to the Facebook (U.S.) campaign that started the movement to get White on "SNL."
As for why Martin had a (very brief) appearance? In addition to co-hosting the Oscars and sharing screen time in "It's Complicated," the two actors are also now tied for the title of "Most 'SNL' Hosting Gigs" with 15 apiece.

Call it coincidence, but May 15 marks the 15th time Alec Baldwin hosts "Saturday Night Live."
And according to his his promo (below) alongside musical guest Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, it's going to be so funny, "It will make you forget all about old whats-her-name."
This will be the eighth appearance for the band -- who remind Baldwin that "old whats-her-name" is last week's ratings gold "SNL" host, Betty White. They will be promoting their new album "Mojo," which is out in June.
Zap2it has already revealed Alec Baldwin's nipple-twisting promos (Will Forte being on the receiving end of the torture) for tonight's 35th season finale. So we'd like to take a quick trip back in time to reminisce about one of Baldwin's most popular "SNL" sketches -- and one of our personal favorites.

Betty White is all the rage right now and Wednesday, May 12 Jay Leno welcomed her to "The Tonight Show." Much hilarity ensued.
Betty White laughs at her recent exposure, "You should be throwing rocks at me, you've had such an overdose."
Her retelling of the "Saturday Night Live" experience is hilarious -- Jay even gets a nice crack in about how she got the gig at "SNL." Also, apparently musical guest Jay-z got a little handsy. "He didn't get fresh, he just got desperate, I guess. He walked by and, ya know, patted me. Not on the shoulder."
In the second video, there is a clip of Betty White and Bea Arthur dancing and singing to "42nd Street" on the old Dinah Shore show. It is delightful. There's also a clip from her new show "Hot in Cleveland," which premieres on TV Land in June.

Alec Baldwin caps off a rather good season of "Saturday Night Live" on May 15. Check out these promos for his appearance.
We can't decide what we like Alec Baldwin doing to Will Forte better -- threatening to kill him, punching him in the face or twisting his nipple. The best reaction, however, is Forte's excited, slightly sexual response to the nipple twist. Oh dear.
With this hosting outing, Alec Baldwin will tie Steve Martin for most number of times as the "SNL" host with 15. Martin still holds the record for total appearances at 22, as he pops in for cameos fairly regularly.
In 2006 when Baldwin hosted, he and Martin actually did a sketch where they were in the elite "Platinum Lounge." The lounge only accepted people who had hosted 12 or more times, which only included themselves and actor John Goodman -- check it out below! We hope Steve Martin makes a...

Is Justin Timberlake going to wrap up the 2009-2010 "Saturday Night Live" season with a special digital short? We certainly hope so.
The New York Post is reporting that backstage at Broadway musical "Memphis," Justin Timberlake "was overheard telling cast members he had just come from taping a secret segment for ['Saturday Night Live']."
Timberlake is infamous for his hysterically funny digital shorts with Andy Samberg "D*** in a Box" and "Motherlover." We're also fans of his various two-guys-on-the-street-singing-at-passersby skits where he promotes places like Omeletville and Plasticville. And who can forget his "Single Ladies" dance for Beyonce?
We hope this rumor is true because whatever it is is bound to be an excellent sketch. The season finale of "SNL" airs Saturday, May 15 and will be hosted by Alec Baldwin and feature musical guest Tom Petty. Just for fun -- here's Timberlake's "D*** in a Box" digital short. Naughty words ahead!

With her muffin-touting, hardcore screamo antics and help from an all-star cast of "Saturday Night Live" alumnae, not to mention two solid performances from Jay-z, Betty White helped "SNL" notch its best ratings in nearly two years.
According to figures provided by Nielsen, White gave the 35-year-old late-night staple its highest overnight numbers in more than 18 months, averaging an 8.8 rating, its biggest viewership since a November 1, 2008, show hosted by Ben Affleck that featured appearances by then Republican presidential nominee John McCain and Tina Fey as running mate Sarah Palin. Entertainment Weekly reported that "SNL" was up 66 percent in Nielsen-metered homes over the same night last year.

Jay-z gave an 8-minute performance on "Saturday Night Live" in the episode where Betty White was tapped as a host for the first time. Dressed in white T-shirt, biker vest, jeans and Timberland boots, the rapper delivered a medley of his five hit songs on Saturday, May 8 and a closing song later in the evening.
Introduced by White herself, Jay-z began with "Public Service Announcement" before moving forward with "On to the Next One", "99 Problems", "Me and My Girlfriend" sans Beyonce Knowles and "Empire State of Mind" sans Alicia Keys. However his protege Bridget Kelly provided the voice for Keys' part in "Empire".

Can't get enough of Betty White on "Saturday Night Live"? Well, you might change your mind after watching these unaired sketches.
Apparently, there wasn't enough time to fit in all the sketches, so these three shot during dress rehearsals are web-only exclusives.
For the most part, we can see why they were cut from the show. The range from okay to bad, but we do have to say that White is the best part of each of them.
In "Bronx Beat," Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph's characters are Bronx talk show hosts when Betty White comes on as a guest for Mother's Day.
We absolutely love how cute White looks in her faux snakeskin jacket, and she has a great line when she explains what Yoga stands for.
Next, we have the Joyologist sketch, and Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon do their quirky best for another talk show, "Pretty Living,...

NBC is thanking Betty White for being a friend ... and for high "Saturday Night Live" ratings.
The 88-year-old host, musical guest Jay-z and returning "SNL" alum drew the highest ratings since the 2008 November pre-election show featuring Ben Affleck and presidential nominee John McCain, according to early estimates reports Variety.
That show, which also featured Tina Fey doing her Gov. Sarah Palin impersonation, had pulled in a 9.0 rating/20 share. White's May 8th gig averaged an 8.8/21.
In the 18-49 adult demo, the episode earned a 5.1 rating, once again, just shy of the Nov. 1, 2008 record of 5.2.
White's "SNL" also boasts the top ratings for the night.

At 88 1/2 years old, "The Proposal" star Betty White proved she's one of America's hardest-working grandmothers as she cursed, kicked and roughed up young hoodlums on this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live," featuring musical guest Jay-z.
Eschewing its usual political cold open, the show opted for a "Lawrence Welk Show" Mother's Day tribute sketch, bringing back many of the series' famous female stars, including Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon. White's appearance in the sketch garnered prolonged applause from the studio audience.
Later, in her opening monologue, White joked about her age and the Facebook campaign that brought her to the "SNL" stage.
"When I first heard about the campaign to get me to host 'Saturday Night Live,...

Although Betty White commands her "Saturday Night Live" episode, Jay-z holds his own as musical guest, which isn't bad for a whippersnapper.
Jay-z's first set is purely for the fans. We didn't know what to expect, but the medley just goes on and on.
He starts with "Public Service Announcement," then goes to "On to the Next One," "99 Problems," "'03 Bonnie & Clyde" and finishes with "Empire State of Mind."
It's this last song, which is always such a treat to hear performed live because of the soaring vocals, that gets the most attention because the lady who accompanies Jay-z is most assuredly not Alicia Keys. At the time, the Twitter communitywas excited about Jay-z, most saying he "killed it" on the "SNL," but just as many asking who the chick was.
The funniest tweet: "I was so happy to see Jay-z did empire state of mind...but alicia keys...

Betty White delivers her expected brand of hilarity and more on the May 8 "Saturday Night Live," and if anyone dares disagree, then her legion of fans, including Jay-z would set them straight.
The octogenarian has admitted that she was scared to death to do the show and for good reason. Not only is the live sketch comedy show a huge challenge to perform at any age, but White has to live up to the hype that won her the gig in the first place.
And overall, it's not a disappointment. Sure, some skits work better than others, but White does what she does best: Jokes about being geriatric or jokes that turn her sweet old lady persona on its head whether it's through inappropriately sexual or un-pc humor or profanity.
Let's break it down:
'Lawrence Welk' Opening
The opening skit introduces White very gently to the format, not requiring much of her comedy-wise.

Jay-z officially kicked off the second leg of his North American Blueprint 3 tour on Saturday, February 20 night at Sunrise, Fla.'s The BankAtlantic Center. Spotted among the audience were his wife Beyonce Knowles, fellow rapper P. Diddy, and sportsman Alex Rodriguez.
Trey Songz warmed up the sold-out show with some of his R&B songs like "I Invented Sex" and "Say Aah". Then the main act emerged from under the stage for a performance of "Run This Town" sans the album version collaborators.
Also included in the play list that night were "Already Home" and "Empire State of Mind", the latter of which was sung with Bridget Kelly's assistance. All the while, the backdrops displayed the New York City's skyline which matches the album's concept in honor of the city.

This year's Nrj Music Awards did not only recognize musicians for their works but also offered performances from big stars. Rihanna sang "Russian Roulette", changing her Jean Paul Gaultier gown she wore when walking down the red carpet with a laced leotard during the on-stage act.
While Rihanna performed solo, rap mogul Jay-z brought a partner for his January 23 performance. The husband of Beyonce Knowles made a duet with Bridget Kelly on the smash hit "Empire State of Mind".
In addition to those musical acts, there were also Black Eyed Peas delivering "Meet Me Halfway", Robbie Williams singing "Morning Sun", David Guetta and Kelly Rowland teaming up on "When Love Takes Over" and "Sexy Chick" and Michael Buble performing "Haven't Met You Yet".

"Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York!" Jay-z took hip-hop to the World Series earlier this month, and on Friday (November 6) he took it to the teams' World Series victory parade. Not only did Hov ride one of the floats with Yankee star Alex Rodriguez during the parade down the Canyon of Heroes, he closed out the ceremony at City Hall for the Bronx Bombers.
After giving out keys to the city to the entire Yankee organization — including team captain Derek Jeter — New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a "special treat."
"His song has become one of the newest anthems of the Yankees," Bloomberg told the audience. "Please welcome a great Yankee fan and a great New Yorker: Jay-z.

Jay-z flew across the Atlantic to perform in Berlin at MTV's European Music Awards on Thursday night (November 5) and brought New York City with him. In a hard-charging performance, the rapper stood in front of a cityscape and busted out "Empire State of Mind."
He must have taken a few cues from his Video Music Award performance this September at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall, where he also used scenes from New York as his backdrop. This time in Germany, backed by a live band, Jay took his hometown pride rather seriously: Wearing all black and sunglasses, he rocked the room with his ode to New York as the city skyline swirled behind him.
