- Indian born Mamta Kaash was raised in London from a young age. Her father Worked for BBC's External Services, rising through the ranks to become the first ever Asian to head the BBC'S broadcasting Services to the Asian sub-continent. He had previously worked as an actor for PRITHVI Theatre, broadcaster in All India Radio & as an academic.. Her mother comes from an Indian Industrialists family & is related to the great Indian singer Sehgal. Her mother worked with Kodak & is a prize winner in dance and playing Sitar. Mamta started acting in school plays & devising her own productions. She studied Economics at Uni. & attended drama and production courses. She is married to businessman DK, a former banker & moved with him to the East for several years, before recently returning to London to renew her career. Her breakthrough, while at college came through BBC TV'S popular Series Angels where she was cast as one of the ANGELS. She was cast as a lead in several popular TV Series like EMMERDALE FARM, RIVER CITY, RUTH RENDAL, HETTYWAINTHROPE, INSPECTOR WEXFORD, BETWEEN THE LINES, to mention a few. CASUALTY - the world's longest running medical drama was one of her most popular shows. For BBC's SHALOM SALAAM she won the best actress award at FIPA Cannes. She has worked for the Royal Court Theatre in MA, Touring the UK with Tara Arts trilogy of plays JOURNEY TO THE WEST, & DOMESTIC CRUSADERS, & worked several times at Theatre Royal Stratford East & Coventry Belgrade. Mamta has appeared in a number of Award winning Radio plays including SONG OF THE FOREST, which won the Giles Cooper Award in Japan. She has anchored stage shows, sat on a major International drama jury and consulted on International Film festivals. - Mamta Kaash traveled and lived in East and Middle East, with her partner, for several years from mid 2000 taking a break from her career to understand and soak in various cultures and worlds - it was a disturbing and enlightening experience at the same time which she hopes would add layers to her work.
