- When in the Marine Corp, his Drill Instructor caught Ron sleeping and demanded to know what work Ron had done before. "Sir, a dancer, Sir!" Ron responded. "What kind of dancer?" the D.I. asked. "West Side Story, Sir!" The instructor had just seen the (then) new movie in a theater and said, "Show me!" Ron stretched, did a couple pliés, and then - in heavy boots - did the Sharks dance right there at the gym. The D.I. was very impressed and let him go, unscathed.
- Ron's dance number with Vicki Lawrence in the Very Dirty Dancing episode of Mama's Family (1989) recently went viral with over six million views.
- Ron is an artist as well. He has been painting since 1967 and he loves singing standards - usually at Clint Eastwoods' Mission Ranch or, when in Los Angeles, at The Dresden with Marty and Elayne.
