Robin Johnson splashes onto the horror scene with film directorial debut Beach Day, a 14 minute long experimental horror short, co-produced by indie studio Sassy Mare Films.
Starring Carly Jordan, Adam Grodman, and Hannah Marie Fonder, Beach Day follows a young woman as her day of “self care” at the beach evolves into a series of peculiar activities.
Post-production completed in February 2023, and the film has already garnered significant attention. As of early June 2023, it’s received awards at Astoria Film Festival, Cooper Awards, Wrpn Women’s International Film Festival, among others, and selections and nominations at over 10 NY-based film festivals, including semi-finalist at Dumbo Film Festival.
While this is Robin Johnson’s screenwriting, producing and directing debut, she has a rich background as an award-winning actor, choreographer, and theater artist. A proud intersectional feminist, Johnson seeks to challenge viewers and subvert expectations with her work, in terms of both genre and gender.

Britney Spears is finally free. The conservatorship she called a “cruel” and “abusive” living nightmare was finally terminated on Friday in the same brutalist building in downtown Los Angeles where it started nearly 14 years ago.
“The court finds and determines that the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is no longer required,” Los Angeles County Judge Brenda Penny said. “Effective today, with the caveats I mentioned, the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated.”
