Kennebunk, Maine — Zumba instructor and single mom moonlights as hooker.
From the start, the case against Alexis Wright read like the TV Guide synopsis for one of those steamy Lifetime made-for-television movies.
There was Wright, the raven-haired fitness instructor who taught Zumba to soccer moms in a picturesque New England town while leading a double life as a prostitute with a customer list that was said to include prominent people, all of whom were secretly videotaped in the act.
There was also the business partner who watched via Skype from 100 miles away. The pizza delivery guy who got an eyeful when Wright dropped her towel. And the tenants in Wright's building who got suspicious about all the moaning and groaning.
Whether her tale makes it to the small screen remains to be seen. Wright's lawyer isn't saying what her client intends to do. But there is nothing specifically in state...

You just can’t tell one from the other, especially those Johnsons, as evident by an item from today’s New York Post Page Six column. Obviously the writer can’t tell the difference between Bob Johnson and Linda Johnson-Rice, but what the hey? Aren’t they all the same? It’s so hard to tell one kneegrow from another. They ought to wear a sign around their necks or something. Here’s the item complete and unedited:
Former White House social secretary Desiree Rogers working for Obama critic Bob Johnson
Desiree Rogers should check to see if her nose is growing. The former White House social secretary took the blame for the crashers at the Obama administration’s first state dinner last year and resigned after just 13 months on the job. Now she’s been named CEO of Johnson Publishing, which puts out Ebony and Jet magazines — and...

On the Internet, Colton Harris-Moore cut a romantic figure as a daring and mysterious fugitive. In reality, throughout a turbulent and troubled youth, he appears to have lived a much less glamorous life. The so-called "Barefoot Bandit," 19, captured this month in the Bahamas, was often alone and hungry growing up in squalor in Camano Island, Wash., according to The New York Times. He reportedly stole food from neighbors, bullied classmates and clashed severely with his mother, Pam Kohler, with whom he had an explosive relationship. By age 10, officials were investigating whether he was being mistreated by his mother. By 12, he had been diagnosed with depression,...

Of course, since I am an employee of Johnson Publishing Company I’m the last to hear about this, but according to Bloomberg News on Friday, Magic Johnson is currently in discussions to buy Ebony and Jet magazines, as well has its historical archive, and to fold the company into his Magic Johnson Enterprises operations.
So far no word from Johnson Publishing except for a statement from a company spokesperson stating that the CEO Linda Johnson-Rice “has never talked to Magic Johnson with respect to his interest in buying,” which is a slick way of saying that someone else is talking to Magic. Personally, as far as I’m concerned, anything that keeps the magazines and company going is O.K. by me.
Hey, wait, is that Cicely Tyson in a wig????...
