Production begins this week in Connecticut on the psychological thriller We Need To Talk About Kevin, which is being directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lynne Ramsay (Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar) and produced by Jennifer Fox (Michael Clayton, The Informant!), Luc Roeg (Mr. Nice) and Robert Salerno (21 Grams). We Need To Talk About Kevin was written by Ramsay and Rory Kinnear based on the novel by Lionel Shriver. The film stars Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly and Ezra Miller. Presented by BBC Films and the UK Film Council in association with Footprint Investments Llp, Caemhan Partnership Llp and Lipsync Productions, the film is an Independent / Jennifer Fox production in association with Artina Films and Forward Films. London -- Distributor Artificial Eye has secured U.K. rights to "We Need To Talk About Kevin," the Lynne Ramsay directed adaptation of Lionel Shriver's novel of the same name.
Artificial Eye secured the rights at script stage from London-based sales banner Independent for the project, which is set to star Tilda Swinton.
Directed by Ramsay and produced by Jennifer Fox and Independent's Luc Roeg, the project has been developed by BBC Films' creative director Christine Langan and Paula Jalfon.
Steven Soderbergh is executive producing with Langan and Jalfon.
The story details the story of a mother coming to terms with having a child who grows up to be killer.
It is set to shoot in 2010.
The deal was negotiated by Artificial Eye's Louisa Dent and Independent's Abigail Walsh.
Artificial Eye has laid claim to several high profile art house titles including "Father of My Children,...

LONDON -- BBC Films has hired Paula Jalfon as its commercial manager, with responsibility for managing third-party financing at the U.K. pubcaster's filmmaking unit.
Jalfon joins from U.K.-based financier Ingenious, where she was head of production.
Her new role will see her charged with finding new sources of funding at home and abroad. She also will oversee sales, marketing and distribution for the BBC Films slate.
Jalfon will report to Jane Wright, who oversees all commercial affairs at BBC Films, the organization said.
"With the recently announced boost to the annual budget, these are exciting times at BBC Films," Wright said. "Paula has fantastic experience, will add great strength and presence to BBC Films and provide even more support for the filmmaking community."
Before joining Ingenious, Jalfon spent five years as head of production at BFI TV before forming production banner Minerva Pictures.
