Wrestling fans are really furious with Aew star Darby Allin, who recently insulted Kurt Angle—a big figure in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Angle is considered one of the all-time wrestling greats. He proved his real wrestling chops by snagging an Olympic Gold Medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympics despite having a broken neck.

At WrestleMania 35, the 55-year-old wrapped up his wrestling career, losing to Baron Corbin. This match occurred almost two decades after Angle’s debut on WWE television.
Many fans were upset because Pittsburgh native’s last match at WrestleMania 35 was against Baron Corbin instead of someone like John Cena. They thought The Prototype would have been a better choice for Angle’s final match. Sadly, it didn’t come to be.

If you are an old school fan of Ecw there are certain factions and stars that tend to stand out. For me the Dudley Boyz were one such faction. In Ecw, WWE, and beyond they created a pathway to destruction that has made them one of the best tag teams in history. Straight Outta Dudleyville: The Legacy of the Dudley Boyz gives the WWE version of this history.
As is usual in these types of sets, we get a short documentary about Bubba Ray and D-Von looking at how they got into wrestling, all the way up to their return to the WWE. The documentary is fun, and even gives part of the history that some fans may be unaware of. While the documentary may feel a little short, it pays respect not only to their Ecw years, but even dares to mention Bubba’s success in Tna.

Professional wrestling is, at its heart, a story of winners and losers. For every groundbreaking, era-defining figure such as Steve Austin or John Cena, there lies a trail of victims in their wake. Most admittedly have had their moment in the sun – but what about the losers that never win?
As some of you might be aware, I’ve made quite a habit of losing challenges on our official YouTube channel (WhatCulture Wrestling). I know exactly what it means to be a jobber – it’s in my Twitter handle for goodness’ sake – so who better to guide you through the murky, depressing world of WWE’s most desperate losers?
Jobbers can take many forms, from the classic Hogan-fodder of the golden era to comedic modern-day superstars, none of whom could ever seem to buy a win. Sometimes unremarkable and generic, sometimes silly to the extreme, these wrestlers are...

Molly Holly was one of the most influential women to ever wrestle in WWE. Shrugging off the long-kept stereotype that female performers were only truly useful in scantily-clad outfits or as managers to their male counterparts and turning the women’s division into a vibrant, electric battleground, Molly was a well trained competitor with technical nous far outweighing her often more popular opponents.
Whether playing the sweet, innocent babyface or the aggressive, spiteful heel, Molly went about her job like a true pro and, despite winning two Women’s titles during her time with the company, most never saw her as equal to Trish Status and Lita (both of whom have been inducted into the Hall of Fame).
During a time when it was all about bloodshed and risqué storytelling, Molly Holly’s character was the light in the darkness. While Stone Cold Steve Austin was offering up beer baths and middle fingers,...

Over the course of four years, the Hardcore Championship changed hands 240 different times. That should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of this division.
To be fair, there were some legitimately terrific hardcore matches, and a few guys carried the title like pros. But for the most part, it was just a haphazard, silly little distraction from the real competition happening in the WWE. Maybe if they’d kept guys like Mick Foley involved (he was the first one to be awarded the belt, but only held it once before quickly ascending to main event status), the division would have stood a chance at legitimacy.
As it happened, the division was sometimes fun to watch in a “Why are they still allowing this ridiculousness to be televised?” sort of way, but that was about the extent of it. Most diehard fans viewed it as a gimmick title,...

Another Ecw original is thought to be returning in time for WWE’s TLC pay per view on December 13th, and could well compete in a multi-man match against the Wyatt Family.
According to reports from WrestlingInc and EWrestlingNews, another legend of the extreme Philadelphia-based promotion could well align with the Dudley Boyz and Tommy Dreamer, taking on the Wyatts in some form of eight-man match at the PPV.
This rumour is sure to provoke much debate regarding the identity of the potential returner. Logic would dictate that Rhyno is the simplest choice for WWE, given his current position as a member of the Nxt roster. Other Ecw legends of similar stature to the Dudleys and Dreamer include Raven, Rob Van Dam, Sandman, and Sabu. Spike Dudley would also make sense from a storyline point of view, given his (kayfabe) family ties with Bubba Ray and D-Von – but...

The 2002 Royal Rumble took place at a time when WWE had a really big roster due to all of the talent they acquired when they bought WWE in 2001. While they didn’t choose to bring in all of their talent and a number of big names came in down the road, there were still several WCW stars that were playing major roles in WWE.
With the Invasion storyline finished after settling things at Survivor Series 2001, WWE had to move forward with a new direction. That led to the WWE return of Ric Flair, who left the company for WCW eight years old. He was put in the role of an owner that was battling with Vince McMahon. It got so heated that they ended up having a match at this show.

Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley could be surprise entrants in this Sunday’s 30-man Royal Rumble match, according to PWInsider.com.
If it happens, it would be their first appearance for World Wrestling Entertainment in 9 and a half years.
After their Tna contracts expired last year, Bully Ray and Devon (who wrestled as The Dudley Boyz in a highly successful WWE spell from 1999-2005) reportedly held talks with WWE officials about returning to the company in some capacity.
It’s unknown whether anything official came from these discussions but it’s clear WWE were interested in bringing the veterans back into the fold, possibly as Nxt trainers (as was rumoured a few months ago). As well as a possible last run with the company (ala the modern day New Age Outlaws), WWE could use The Dudleyz for anything as varied as a Hall Of Fame induction to future video game releases.

The 2002 edition of WWE Survivor Series is one of the most memorable Survivor Series events because it took place in the world’s most famous arena Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 17, 2002.
It’s a famous show because it was headlined by the first ever Elimination Chamber match in WWE history. Going into it we had no idea what the Elimination Chamber was going to look like. They had all these hype videos and descriptions of it, but until we saw it we really didn’t know. The main event featured six men battling for Triple H’s World Title with the main focus on the returning Shawn Michaels, who was wrestling in only his second match of the last four years.

When it comes to the differing types of wrestlers that compete all across the world (from giants such as The Great Khali right through to men like Spike Dudley), there is one particular kind above all else that seems to attract popularity – the high-flying, energy-inducing risk taker. Think the kind of guy that made Jim Ross leap out of his seat and scream various obscenities (or at least before the PG-Era, anyway); he’s a popular choice amongst wrestling fans, from WWE all the way down to independent circuits.
But it’s WWE risk takers that garner the most attention (as they naturally would do), after being exposed to an audience of literally millions. Over the last 14 years WWE fans have been given a real treat when it comes to daredevils, with a whole host of guys putting their bodies on the line with extreme consequences. We’ve...

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”
Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.
Differences in methodology from Morris
I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

After being established in 1997 as the WWE’s tertiary championship, the European title had a mostly inglorious history, bouncing around from superstar to superstar, without a significant amount of build or fanfare. The title was famously held by the son of WWE owner Vince McMahon, and was even awarded to one performer after he found it discarded in a duffel bag. Other WWE superstars who went on to accomplish very little during their careers had stints as champs – Spike Dudley, Crash Holly and The Hurricane, to name a few – which helped devalue the strap’s significance further within the company.
And yet there’s an underrated prestige associated with the European Championship. A number of future WWE Hall-of-Famers have held the championship. A handful of superstars held both the European and Intercontinental Championships – dubbing themselves “Eurocontinental Champions.” Some performers even used the title as a stepping-stone to bigger and better things in the WWE,...

Just making the card of wrestlemania is enough to fulfil the dreams of some of the members of the wwe roster but then there are others who aim a little higher to pursue a coveted wrestlemania moment and to steal the show with their match on the grandest stage of them all. It is the grandstand wrestling event where the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock watched childhood heroes such as Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage engage in combat and where today’s main eventers such as Cm Punk and The Miz were captivated in turn by the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.
