While I was growing up back in the days when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, there wasn’t a ton of debate over who the funniest women in show business were. It was Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett, usually (but not always) in that order. Lucy was the First Lady of Television, and Carol was the dame who seemingly could do anything on a stage. She could sing, she could dance, she could tell jokes, she could wear crazy outfits with uncommon flair. It didn’t even matter if she sang or danced well, because performing something poorly would simply make her the butt of the joke – and no one could do that better than her.
I attended Hollywood High School and was always proud that it was also Burnett’s alma mater. She took out a full-page ad annually in the yearbook congratulating that year’s senior class. It...

Saturday Night Live has come under fire for using “offensive” stereotypes about Irish people in a sketch featuring impersonations of Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.
Saturday’s (11 March) episode was hosted by Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and began with a cold open sketch set on the Oscars red carpet.
In the sketch, presenters Mario Lopez and “Maria Menounos or Kit Hoover” (Marcello Hernandez and Heidi Gardner) are interviewing celebrities ahead of the awards show, which takes place on Sunday (12 March).
“I’m told that we have the stars of The Banshees of Inisherin, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson,” Gardner says, with Mikey Day and Molly Kearny then appearing as the pair of Irish actors.
“How do you guys like your chances tonight?” Gardner asks them, with the comedians replying in extremely thick, hard-to-understand accents.

Ahead of the 95th annual Oscars on Sunday, the Saturday Night Live cold open featured a live red carpet segment and what audiences can expect ahead of the ceremony.

It had to be the Academy Awards that got burned in tonight’s SNL cold open, didn’t it? But did it have to be this gammy cold open?
“Last year’s Oscars had the slap, which was awesome, I mean bad, so bad,” said Heidi Gardner as “either Maria Menounos or Kit Hoover they haven’t told me which yet” in the NBC late-night show’s first few minutes. “So, this year to make sure nothing crazy happens, the Academy hired a new head of security: notoriously calm and sane person, Mike Tyson,” she says as Kenan Thompson strolled on screen as the former heavyweight champion.
At that point, Saturday Night Live should have realized that it had a case of less is more. But the show wanted more.

“Access Hollywood” went back into the studio for production in June. A separate source describes the show as having a lean set with only a handful of people working in the same vicinity. The national daily syndicated show features Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover, Scott Evans and Sibley Scoles as hosts. A representative for “Access Hollywood” declined to comment.

Three years after MTV struck gold with the true story of seven strangers, a new competition series rolled onto the network. Premiering 25 years ago today, Road Rules was meant to bring together five telegenic youths for the ultimate cross-country scavenger hunt that saw them completing tasks (think: shearing sheep, spending a night gambling in Vegas) as they sought out clues as to where to pilot their shared Rv next. "We had no idea what we were doing," Access anchor Kit Hoover said in 2018 of the first season that saw she and Mark Long, Carlos "Los" Jackson, Allison Jones and Shelly Spottedhorse traveling everywhere from a circus to a nudist trailer...

Since no one knows how Peter Weber‘s journey on “The Bachelor” ends, one of the most popular conspiracy theories is that he ends up with producer Julie Laplaca, based on a bunch of Instagram posts of them together. Robert Mills, ABC’s head of alternative programming, has already declined to confirm or deny, and now Chris Harrison is getting in on the action.
The host already trolled Bachelor Nation last week when he Instagrammed a photo of himself, Peter and Julie on an airport escalator together, with the cheeky caption, “Knowin nothin in life but to be legit… New album cover came out great!”
“Actually, I didn’t mean to do anything other than [show] the fact that we spend a lot time together. We travel the world together,” Harrison told “Access” (watch above). “Julie — an an amazing, talented, smart producer that works for us — works on the show, so...
