After 21 years, Rooster Teeth is shutting down.
“Since inheriting ownership and control of Rooster Teeth from AT&T following its acquisition of TimeWarner, Warner Bros. Discovery continued its investment in our company, content and community,” Rooster Teeth General Manager Jordan Levin said in a company memo. “Now however, it’s with a heavy heart I announce that Rooster Teeth is shutting down due to challenges facing digital media resulting from fundamental shifts in consumer behavior and monetization across platforms, advertising, and patronage.”
Around 150 staff are being affected, plus dozens of contractors and freelancers. A post from Rooster Teeth Community Manager Chelsea Atkinson asked that fans remember everyone at Rooster Teeth is “processing this in real time just like you,” and announced there will be a livestream about the closure March 7 on the Rooster Teeth website.

A pioneer in digital content creation is going away. Rooster Teeth, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Streaming & Interactive Entertainment, announced this morning that it is ceasing operations after 21 years. The process starts today and is expected to take several months.

The show billed as "the longest-running web series of all time" is set to make its return. Rooster Teeth has offered up a trailer for the 15th season of Red Vs. Blue, the machinima series animated within the world of the video game series Halo.
After beginning as an existential comedy set on a battlefield called Blood Gulch, the Red Vs. Blue story has expanded immensely over the course of more than 300 episodes. The new season will follow a journalist who hopes to file a report on the Red Vs. Blue gang, which includes Sarge (Matt Hullum) and Caboose (Joel Heyman). As the trailer shows us, something is apparently afoot.
Rooster Teeth moved Red Vs. Blue to its own ad-supported YouTube channel in 2015, but the show's 15th season will first be available to members of Rooster Teeth First, the Austin-based studio's premium subscription service. If you're among that number, you'll...

The latest program from the Austin-based entertainers at Rooster Teeth brings them to the mobile-first video platform Go90. Joel Heyman will be the host of What Do You Know?, a roundtable show that will discuss some important topics (and some not-so important ones).
Heyman, who co-founded Rooster Teeth alongside four others back in 2003, will lead What Do You Know? by introducing each episode’s discussion topics and giving his guests -- including comedians, YouTube stars, and fellow Rooster Teeth employees -- chances to voice their own opinions about everything from health to trolling to marriage to ghosts. The goal is to share seemingly-pointless facts that viewers can repeat to friends.
“You know that friend in your circle that seems to have endless reams of useless knowledge stored away in their head? We’re hoping to make every viewer into a version of that guy with this new show,” said Heyman in a press release.

The content produced by Austin-based studio Rooster Teeth tends to be light and jovial, but Day 5 is anything but. A post-apocalyptic thriller, Day 5 is set in a world where anyone who falls asleep promptly dies. Ahead of its June 19th premiere, Rooster Teeth has shared a trailer for the series on its YouTube channel.
The protagonist of Day 5 is a junkie named Jake (Jesse C. Boyd), who emerges from a drug binge and learns that most people in the world have died in their sleep. As seen in the trailer, Jake teams up with a ragtag group of bleary-eyed heroes, who must together search for the cause of the mysterious “sleep epidemic.”
While its dramatic nature makes it a departure from other Rooster Teeth productions, Day 5 will feature several cast members who have appeared in the studio’s other projects. Rooster Teeth co-founder Joel Heyman, for example,...

One of Blip's best and most popular series is back in full swing. The Gauntlet, Rooster Teeth's very and intense and very cheeky video game competition, has released the first real episode of its second season. For the uninitiated, The Gauntlet pits four teams against one another in virtual combat, with Red Vs. Blue leading men Burnie Burns and Joel Heyman providing Rooster Teeth's signature pithy commentary along the way. One team consists of Rooster Teeth personalities, another features hosts from the channel's Achievement Hunter series (including the always fun Gavin Free), a third features handpicked members of the Rooster Teeth community as selected during a gaming challenge at the channel's Rtx convention, and the fourth includes a quartet of notable online video personalities: Freddiew, iJustine, and hosts from IGN and Machinima. In the first competitive episode, the four teams battle in a round of Halo 4. Unsurprisingly, it is the Rtx gamers who emerge victorious.

Siri The Holiday Horror Movie Trailer. Rooster Teeth‘s Siri: The Holiday Horror Movie trailer stars Barbara Dunkelman, Marshall Rimmer, Michael Jones, Chris Demarais, and Joel Heyman. Siri: The Holiday Horror Movie plot synopsis: a group of friends get the iPhone 4Ss for Christmas unaware that the Siri assistant within the phone has a blood thirst.
Video tagline: “Beware the upgrade…..” This faux movie trailer is hilarious. The knife scene was probably one of the funniest moments. I couldn’t figure out if the iPhone4S was possessed by a demon or if Siri (the phone’s preloaded virtual assistant) was the evil force and had been evil all along. Regardless, it is very entertaining and Rooter Team did a good job on it.
