Exclusive: Campbell Grobman Films, executive producers on action pics Rambo 5, The Hitman’s Bodyguard and the Angel Has Fallen, is teaming up with comic book writer Everette Hartsoe and E! Entertainment co-founder and producer Alan Mruvka to produce a feature film based on new Hartsoe character Bayonet.
The Bayonet story will follow Emma Harlow, a biracial British Sas officer stationed in Afghanistan. After Harlow is thought to be killed in combat, she wakes up in an underground lab with no memory or identity. Instead, she is told she is now a ‘Bayonet’. Because of a chip implanted in the brain, a Bayonet is an agent whose lethal skills are second to none and is called upon by the British government to complete the most lethal black ops missions.
The companies are aiming to create a franchise around the character.

We have so many comic book movies nowadays and they are all trying to make something that does something different. It seems like it's almost impossible. But nevertheless, Rob Cohen who has brought us some of the best mindless action films of all time including xXx and The Fast and the Furious, has decided to do just that.
Cohen is going to direct a film version of the comic Razor. Razor is a very punk S&M looking heroine with 80's hair and makeup and who doesn't feel pain. Cohen also wrote the screenplay based on writer Everette Hartsoe's comic. And just in case you want even more Cohen, he also is a producer alongside Jeff Most.
What interests me the most about this comic isn't necessarily the character or the story, but rather it's conception. Hartsoe wrote this book to mourn his sister's death who was murdered when he was 15 years old.

Rob Cohen is best known these days for making trashy action movies like the original xXx, the original The Fast And The Furious, and that one about the evil jet, but he hasn’t really gotten an opportunity to take advantage of the recent trend of well-received trashy action movies. Perhaps that will change with Razor, a new comic book adaptation that Cohen has just signed on to direct.
The original comic was created by Everette Hartsoe, and it was first published by London Night Studios in 1992. Basically, it’s about a young woman whose father and sister are killed by violent criminals, prompting her to go on a bloody quest for vengeance against a crime boss. Naturally, because this was a comic book in the ’90s, that required her to strap giant blades to her arms and become a mostly naked vigilante. The comic takes some turns after ...

Rob Cohen to direct, produce action tentpole.
Lotus Entertainment heads to the Croisette with worldwide rights to Rob Cohen comic-book adaptation Razor under a new deal with Number 11 Films.
Cohen, whose credits include XXX and The Fast And The Furious, wrote the screenplay and is producing the project with The Crow producer Jeff Most of Most Films
Number 11 Films is fully financing Razor, the first feature to go under a sales and financing pact with Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel’s Lotus Entertainment.
The partnership will aim to produce and finance three to four films a year budgeted in the $5m-$40m range.
Razor is based on Everette Hartsoe’s comic-book series about an avenging heroine who battles the man who destroyed her family.
“I have loved Razor since its first publication,” Cohen said. “It has operatic themes, female empowerment, revenge, action, a love story, all shrouded in a delicious darkness that fits our time.”

“The Fast and the Furious” and “XXX” director Rob Cohen has set his next project, an adaptation of the ’90s cult hit comic series “Razor,” and its follow up, “Stryke.” Created by writer Everette Hartsoe, “Razor tells the story of Nicole Mitchell, a young woman who loses her father and sister to violent crime and vows to rid her city of crime. Mitchell adopts the superhero name “Razor” (after blades worn on her arms), and confronts the crimelord who killed her family, with unforeseen consequences both earthly and mystical. Introduced in 1992, comics featuring the character Razor have collectively sold...

If there’s one director whose films I will watch without hesitation or question, it’s Pearry Teo. In fact his filmic career is actually one that is key to mine. His second film, the 2009 fear flick Necromentia (which I still think out-Hellraiser’d Hellraiser itself), was one of the first films I ever reviewed professionally; and I’ve reviewed each and every one of his films since. Why? Because of the impact his twisted vision in Necromentia had on me and because no matter the story, no matter the budget, Teo always finds something interesting, admittedly often dark, to do with the subject matter.

During the 90s, the only comics I wanted to read were X-Men. Every once in awhile I'd pick up a Spider-Man or something off the beaten path like Shi or Lady Death. Strong, powerful female comic characters were roles models for me, and it didn't hurt that they were gorgeous too. One that I missed along the way was Razor created by Everette Hartsoe. If I would have known about the character then I might have also gotten into The Crow a little earlier. The character did several crossovers...

In an event described as "a B-movie jamboree of awesomeness", the Polly Staffle Grindhouse Fest - informally known as the Pollygrind - launches this Wednesday until May 16 at the Sci-Fi Center (2520 State Street) in Las Vegas.
Thirteen films and more than 31 trailers, music videos and shorts will play the PollyGrind, described by Vampires.com as "one of the biggest events for grindhouse and trash film lovers this year."
Organiser Chad Clinton Freeman said: "The festival is being put on in the same spirit as old-school grindhouse cinema - no funding and creatively using whatever is available.
"With that said, I think the line-up turned out rather nicely and I think everyone that comes out will enjoy what William Powell's Sci-Fi Center and the PollyGrind have to offer."
