EastEnders star Sam Strike has joined the cast of Bonded By Blood 2.
The 20-year-old will star in the Greg Hall-directed crime sequel following his recent departure from the BBC soap.
The film - based on Bernard O'Mahoney's book Essex Boys: The New Generation - focuses on the Essex crime scene after the murders of Pat Tate, Tony Tucker and Craig Rolfe in 1995.
Strike posted about the project on Twitter earlier today (January 5), and was swiftly congratulated by his former on-screen father Danny Dyer.

The Sarajevo Film Festival has announced that Us actor Danny Glover is to curate this year’s Katrin Cartlidge Foundation Award.
The Lethal Weapon star will attend the festival, which runs from August 16-24, and will present the winner of the award - aimed at giving new voices, new perspectives and visions a chance to be seen and heard.
Over the past nine years the foundation has appointed a curator, selected from Cartlidge’s friends and colleagues, who in turn chooses a recipient for the annual bursary.
The recipient is a new cinematic voice whose work, in some way, embodies her “integrity of spirit and commitment to independent film”. Cartlidge was a British actress who starred in several Mike Leigh films and died in 2002.
The recipient is presented with the award, a cash bursary, at a special red carpet gala at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
Past winners include:
Diana El Jeiroudi and Orwa Nyrabia (2012, curator: Jeremy Irons)Hala Lotfy...

Red Sea Media has been in the news a lot lately, jumping onto the scene with films as varied as Dust Up, Synevir 3D, Hotel De Sade, and Bad Kids Go To Hell. The first is Blood Shed, a film starring Bai Ling (The Crow), and the next is Encounter At Np-9, a paranormal thriller from the mind of Todd Ireland (a film crew veteran from such varied pictures as Watchmen, Tron: Legacy and Sucker Punch). Read the press release below for more details on the deal and the two companies and their forthcoming projects.

Horrorfind Weekend 14
Once again Labor Day weekend rolled around and it was time for another trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for the Horrorfind Weekend Convention.
The convention combines all things horror—books, movies, collectibles, etc—and that’s what I really enjoy about it. Last year I had a blast, getting to meet authors I knew online in person and hang out with friends who live in other parts of the country but gather in Gettysburg once a year.
This year’s movie guests included Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange {1971}, Halloween {2007}, and Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse), Ray Wise (Robocop {1987} and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks), Doug Bradley (the Hellraiser series), Mary Woronov (The House Of The Devil {2009}, Eating Raoul {1982}, Death Race 2000 {1975}) and Patty Mullen (Frankenhooker {1990}).
There were quite a few authors representing the small horror press Samhain Publishing, including John Everson, Brian Moreland, David Bernstein,...

Issue number 13 (our favorite number!) of Necrotic Tissue features a story from long time HorrorNews contributor and book reviewer, Anton Cancre. The story in question, “The Song That Crawls” is a meandering little ditty that merges the ethos of Lovecraft with the lyricality and drug induced dementia of the music of Dax Riggs. In addition to that fine tail, this issue clocks in at almost 200 pages, and contains stories from D. Harlan Wilson, Paul Kane and Brent Knowles as well as the first installment of a regular segment from that funky Werepiggy, Greg Hall. Despite the smack I’ve talked about Wilson in the past, the and trippy “Interstate” shows how he’s built his name and fame. Plus, John P. McCann’s “Dagon and Jill” is a hoot and two thirds. Check out the reviews of issues 7 and 11, then go here to buy or subscribe. Related Posts:Book Review: [...]...

Walmart, the world's largest retailer, is joining the telecom game. Starting today, the Walmart Family Mobile plan launches as a contract-optional service, carried on T-Mobile's USA network.
Interestingly, Walmart's plan costs less than T-Mobile's--$45 per month for unlimited calling and texting, and $25 for each additional line. Yet T-Mobile has encouraged the partnership. T-Mobile CEO Jim Alling called Walmart's branding a "tremendous endorsement." How regular T-Mobile customers will feel about being undercut like this remains to be seen.
This isn't the first time Walmart has teamed with mobile carriers. The company runs a wireless service with Verizon and is developing another with Sprint. Those plans are prepaid, however. The Family Mobile plans are postpaid, meaning the bill is received at the end of the month rather than at the beginning.
What's more, Walmart's new service avoids a lot of the nonsense we've come to associate with cell phone contracts. Theirs does not require termination fees,...

Hong Sang-soo, Nationwide
It tends to be the harder-hitting thrillers that make it over here from South Korea, like Bong Joon-ho's current Mother, or Park Chan-wook's Old Boy, but it's a shame no one has cottoned on to Hong Sang-soo yet. He's a perceptive, compassionate, humorous, utterly distinctive film-maker, closer in spirit to Eric Rohmer or Woody Allen than his flashier compatriots (who also happen to be his drinking buddies). His films regularly deal with smart women, weak-willed men, truth, lies, heavy drinking, intersecting narratives, and the tangled webs people weave for themselves. Hong himself makes an appearance in London this Friday, and this 10-film retrospective – led by his latest, Hahaha, which won the Un Certain Regard proze in Cannes this year – tours major cities over the coming months.
