Dead Shot is a film directed by Charles and Thomas Guard. It stars Colin Morgan and Aml Ameen and features the always grateful presence of Mark Strong.
A film that takes itself quite seriously in a revenge romp with political undertones in Ireland.
Dead Shot Storyline
In the 1970s, a member of the Ira takes over an Active Service Unit in London after his wife is accidentally shot dead in Ireland. The unit’s mission is to cause chaos and destruction, while his personal aim is to hunt down his wife’s killer — an Sas captain, who is also hunting him.
Movie Review
A good opportunity to revisit the thriller genre with a well-constructed cinematic flavor and with intention, characters and a whole story to tell. It has a lot of style thanks to the setting and the climate of instability in which the plot is framed.

There’s a crunchy veracity to the script for this evocative story of two men on opposing sides of the Northern Ireland conflict
The recent 25th anniversary of the Good Friday agreement underscored how much the Troubles, and those many years of bloodshed, have receded into historical memory. With the wounds less raw, it’s easier to mine the period for drama spiked with high-stakes violence and leavened with moral conundrums about justice, loyalty and political expediency. Belfast-born novelist and screenwriter Ronan Bennett is just the right man to map out this terrain. It’s not just his having roots in the region that helps, but also his longtime involvement in British crime drama, from Face back in 1997 through TV series Top Boy, to historical mini-series Gunpowder about the Guy Fawkes plot.

Crafting an emotionally frightening and visually stunning psychological horror movie, especially one that’s aimed at teenagers and young adults, can be a harrowing task for filmmakers. But Charles and Thomas Guard, who are collectively known as The Guard Brothers, created an intriguing American spin on the subgenre with the 2009 mystery drama, ‘The Uninvited,’ which […]

Although it is light on scares, The Uninvited manages to entertain thanks to a twist ending that you might not see coming. The PG-13 rating keeps the film.s thrills light, but the plot will hold your interest . even if it is safe to watch with the lights off. The Uninvited was directed by Charles Guard and Thomas Guard and was written by Craig Rosenberg, Doug Miro, and Carlo Bernard. It is based on Ji-woon Kim's film "Changhwa, Hongryon." The Hollywood version stars Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel, David Strathairn, and Elizabeth Banks. The film opens with Browning.s character Anna in the mental hospital following an attempted suicide after her mother died. Her mother (Maya Massar) had been suffering from...

Blu-Ray Rating: 1.0/5.0 Chicago – Why does Hollywood keep screwing with Asian horror movies? Yes, Gore Verbinski’s “The Ring” was an effective adaptation of “Ringu,” but what the mini-genre of the ‘Asian horror remake’ has wrought since then has been downright terrifying. Take for example the truly horrific “The Uninvited,” a movie notable only in that it’s so much worse than its source material that maybe it will finally put an end to this ignominious trend.
I’ve seen a lot of Asian horror and most remakes pale in comparison, but I thought I’d try something new with “The Uninvited,” now available on Blu-Ray and DVD. I thought perhaps I was romanticizing my brief obsession with those original films when I had to review remakes like the “The Grudge,” “Pulse,” “The Eye,” and “Shutter” and thought I should do an original-remake double feature this time. Big mistake.

The players: Directors: Thomas Guard, Charles Guard, Writers: Doug Miro, Craig Rosenberg, Cast: Elizabeth Banks, David Strathairn, Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel
Facts of interest: Based on Kim Jee-Woon's "A Tale of Two Sisters."
The plot: Two sisters try everything they can to convince their father that his new girlfriend is not the person she pretends to be.
Our thoughts: Charles and Thomas Guard’s “The Uninvited” is yet another lame, unnecessary horror remake that lacks suspense and falls victim to a nearly disastrous script. No matter how bad these flicks are, they just keep coming, and it’s annoying me now more than ever.

Three distinct genres try their luck. After debuting earlier this year in France, 20th Century Fox finally releases the eagerly anticipated crime actioner "Taken" on January 30th. {sidebar id=1}Q: How influential is the original movie?
Thomas Guard: That's good question. But we're very influenced by that Asian terror, but we kind of just see it through our end, kind of, our insensibilities. So, we don.t feel that we're kind of moving away from it too much. I mean, it's very implied. And a lot of it is in the faces of the characters and the anticipation of things. MTV posted a new clip from Charles and Thomas Guard’s upcoming horror thriller “The Uninvited,” about a teenager who thinks her father’s new fiancée (Elizabeth Banks) is someone evil.
Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel and David Strathairn co-star in the flick, which opens in theaters Jan. 30, 2009.
Along with David S. Goyer’s “The Unborn,” this is already the second 2009 horror pic that looks pretty ridiculous, judging by its trailer. Clip comes up right after the jump.

There is one good reason to watch this trailer for The Uninvited: the beautiful Arielle Kebbel in a bikini! Other than that, this is a typical horror movie about ghosts haunting a big house. Maybe I'm just not a horror movie guy, but The Uninvited looks as uninteresting as the title suggests. And that may be because it is a remake of another Korean horror movie. Thankfully I'm not invited to any screenings and can easily forget about it. In addition to Kebbel, it also stars Elizabeth Banks and Emily Browning. If you've still got an itch for remakes of Korean movies, and who doesn't these days, then we're glad to say the trailer for The Uninvited is now online!
IGN scored the trailer for The Uninvited, the PG-13 remake of Kim Jee-Woon's original Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters). If Dreamworks' version, which is directed by Charles and Thomas Guard, is in keeping with the original, The Uninvited centers around two sisters (Anna and Alex), both freshly released from a mental ward. Their return to the family home doesn't exactly help mend their state of mind as they deal with not only their loopy mom, but also a pestering spirit.
Catch it in theatres on January 30th of '09.
