St. Vincent’s seventh studio album, All Born Screaming, has arrived.
Described by St. Vincent’s Annie Clark as a “post-plague pop” album about “heaven and hell — the metaphorical kinds,” All Born Screaming was first announced this past February, and was preceded by its singles, “Broken Man,” “Flea,” and “Big Time Nothing.”

The album’s full tracklist spans 10 songs, and includes contributions from exciting collaborators like Dave Grohl, Josh Freese, Cate Le Bon (who features on the title track), and more.
One poignant moment is the song “Sweetest Fruit,” which was partially inspired by the legacy and death of Sophie, who Clark “never met,” but was “an admirer from afar,” according to a recent interview. Stream All Born Screaming in its entirety below.
Meanwhile, Clark is gearing up for her 2024 tour, which kicks off in May and will bring her to cities like San Francisco,...

The seventh album that singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark has released as St. Vincent teems with the kind of visceral imagery that sticks with you long after her songs fade out. There’s a “hungry little flea” ready to infect your “warm body,” a predator on the street turning aggression into an evil blues promise, a sink that runs red, a head that won’t stop banging, a dream that ends in hell. “I feel like graffiti on a urinal,” she sings. Hey, we’ve all been there.
Clark’s music has always been fearlessly intimate.

St. Vincent rolled out “Big Time Nothing” ahead of the release of her first self-produced record and seventh album, All Born Screaming, due Friday.
“Don’t blink/Don’t wait/Don’t walk/You’re late/Don’t fall from grace, behave/ Don’t trip, sashay,” St. Vincent sings against a fever-dream beat, before declaring, “I look inside your eyes” and counting down to the next verse. “Don’t show/Don’t flake/Go hard, debase/Don’t make a dishonest mistake/Don’t be so sure I need a cure.

The one-off supergroup Gbi — Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Anthrax members Charlie Benante and Scott Ian — have unveiled their cover of the Bad Brains song “The Regulator.”
The trio had previously announced the single as a Record Store Day (April 20th) vinyl release, and on Sunday (April 21st), they unleashed a music video for the track (watch below).
Upon the initial announcement of the single, Scott Ian revealed the story behind the collaboration: “Anthrax were recording our new album at [Grohl’s] 606 [studio] and the Foo’s were there rehearsing at the same time. Dave had popped into the studio to hang and listen to what we were doing and we’d gone over to hear the Foo’s rehearse. I texted Dave the next morning and said: ‘Hey! Good to see ya the other day. Are you rehearsing today? I’ll be there doing guitars. Wanna record a Minor Threat song?...

To secure an opening slot for the Foo Fighters in 2017, Idles sent Dave Grohl and Co. a jigsaw puzzle depicting bassist Adam Devonshire reclining on his couch in his underwear. When the British rock band headlined Bowery Ballroom in early February, an enterprising baby band tried its luck scoring a similar opportunity by delivering Idles a pizza, the box reading, “If you build it, they will come.” Guitarist Mark Bowen says the gesture was much appreciated — and that the group is currently “on the shortlist.” Pizza enthusiasts to the core,...

Courtney Love has never been shy when it comes to sharing her opinions about other people. Going all the way back to the early Nineties, the Hole singer has generated headlines by publicly trashing rock musicians, pop singers, movie stars, and even members of her own family. It’s a level of brutal candor you rarely see with public figures, but as Courtney Love told Rolling Stone in 1994, she simply doesn’t care what others think about her. “If people try to put me in the crazy box–’crazy fucking Courtney’–go ahead,...

With a new BBC radio series now launched, Courtney Love is once again proving the power of the adage “go large or go home.”
In a wide ranging interview with the UK’s Standard today, the former Hole front woman puts forth her take on some of the biggest names in the music industry. Let’s just say, Love bites in deep in the newspaper, to quote from her 1998 tune “Celebrity Skin,” to get her pound of flesh from Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Madonna and recent Coachella headliner Lana Del Rey.
“Taylor is not important,” the People vs. Larry Flint star says of the superstar.
“She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist,” Love added.
The contrarian opinion on Swift is a big shift from where Love was on the Folklore singer just over two years ago.

Brandi Carlile shared a fond recollection of the late Jimmy Buffett during an all-star tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday night, recalling how he would use her name to make friends with “lesbian fisherwomen.”
During a speech leading into her cover performance of “Come Monday,” Carlile revealed that she bonded with Buffett over their shared love of fishing. “I could call Jimmy up, it didn’t matter where I was, and he’d have some salty dog captain come out and pick me up and take me fishing — even if he couldn’t be there — off the drop-off, off of Anegada, or in the Gulf,” she said.

The celebration, titled “Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett,” came after Buffett’s passing in September 2023, and featured tributes from McCartney, Dave Grohl, Zac Brown, Brandi Carlile, Kenny Chesney, John Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, and Buffett’s band, the Coral Reefer Band. We mustn’t dwell… no, not today, not on Rex Manning Day. Today marks the 30th anniversary of Rex Manning Day, the fictional day celebrated in the Allan Moyle disaffected teen comedy Empire Records. Rex Manning Day is celebrated to honor the memory and legacy of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who on April 8th was found dead in his Seattle mansion on Lake Washington Boulevard from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after dying on April 5, 1994.
Directed by Allan Moyle, Empire Records takes place over twenty-four hours in the lives of the young employees at Empire Records when they all grow up and become young adults, thanks to each other and the manager. Dripping with attitude, pining, and real-life drama, Empire Records taps into the struggles of a generation by exploring social pressure, the importance of found family, and the power of music as a healing tool. We live in a golden era of sci-fi on TV, where "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" come in multiple flavors, "Stranger Things" is an event every season, and the CW recently wrapped up an entire universe of DC Comics superheroes on the small screen. Fortunately for all sci-fi fans, this is a time where the people who make such shows grew up loving them, and critics who review them were raised on the concepts and get it. This is all a relatively new phenomenon.
As recently as the '90s, TV critics weren't necessarily big on high-concept sci-fi, and the people making these shows didn't always know what they were doing either. Even if they did, producers over their heads weren't necessarily making the best decisions either. Superheroes on TV were entirely different three decades ago, and the weekly format was just discovering the notion of season-long arcs. There were growing pains to be sure,...

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme’s benefit concert for the Sweet Stuff Foundation on Wednesday (March 20th) at The Belasco in Los Angeles was an epic event. One of the many highlights was his son Ryder’s band Vivant performing classics by Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

Josh Homme addressed the possibility of a Them Crooked Vultures comeback during a fan Ama on reddit, saying he would love to get the band back together — but ultimately it’s not his call.

Dave Grohl paid tribute to his one-time Nirvana bandmate Paul McCartney (technically, it’s true!) with a rendition of “Live and Let Die” at the Love Rocks NYC benefit concert Thursday night, March 7.
The Foo Fighters frontman gave a characteristically full-throated performance of McCartney’s hit 1973 James Bond theme song. Though he strained a bit to hit some of the high notes during the ballad-y sections and left the “You know you did” refrain to the backing vocalists, he attacked the hard rock portions the way only Dave Grohl can.

Dave Grohl and Epiphone have joined forces for the new Dg-335 signature model guitar.
The guitar will be familiar to fans of Foo Fighters, as it combines the body of Grohl’s trusty Es axe — even sporting the same striking Pelham Blue finish — with a one-piece mahogany neck with an elliptical C profile, a laurel fretboard, split diamond inlays, and a Trini Lopez-style headstock with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners.
The semi-hollowbody is made of layered maple/poplar and also touts the diamond-shaped F-holes that are a fixture of the Es models. Electronically, the guitar houses Dave’s preferred pickups: Gibson USA Burstbucker models, with a Burstbucker 2 in the neck and a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position. They’re wired to Cts potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and a Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch and 1/4-inch output jack.

Dave Grohl loves many things: his band, the drums, his family, feeding the homeless. But one thing he loves arguably more than all these things is a damn good rock show, which — judging by his reaction — U2’s final performance at The Sphere certainly was.
A fan-captured video showed Dave Grohl having the time of his life at the Las Vegas venue as he sung along to U2’s performance of “Beautiful Day.” He swayed, he shimmied, he fist-pumped, and sang all the words to the U2 classic, with a drink in hand and sunglasses hung on his shirt collar. The Sphere may be a visual spectacle, but anyone around Grohl for Saturday night’s show was given arguably a greater scene to witness. Watch the clip below.

“Ok, I can die now.”
So said a woman seated behind The Hollywood Reporter inside Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, host of the inaugural The Netflix Slam. She had just snapped a selfie that captured superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz warming up on center court over her shoulder. Sure, it was a dramatic statement but it wasn’t obscene for such an occasion. There’s no shortage of gasp-worthy moments in Sin City, and there’s no doubt many of the 9,489 seated guests could relate to the sentiment.
The Sunday afternoon showdown, the latest in Netflix’s push for live streaming events, pitted two superstar Spaniards in an exhibition match that could be one of the final few times they meet across a net. U2 wrapped the inaugural residency at Las Vegas’ $2.3 billion technical and visual marvel Sphere this weekend, closing out a 40-show run that started in September. Fittingly, the legendary band did so by bringing things full circle.
The shows commemorated one of U2’s most successful records, the chart-topping 1991 release Achtung Baby, played in its entirety with selected tracks from other U2 efforts over the years. To further honor the album, U2 bandmates Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Bram van den Berg (sitting in during the residency for an ailing Larry Mullen Jr.) welcomed Achtung Baby producer Daniel Lanois to the stage Saturday night to play guitar and sing backup on the track “One.”
“There would be no Achtung Baby without Daniel Lanois,” Bono said in welcoming him up the back stairs with a request to the audience. “Show him your light,” and they did by holding up smartphone flashbulbs in a beautiful scene.

Hundreds of Cbeebies Bedtime Stories will soon be added to BBC iPlayer, and details of what’s happening are here.
The art of telling a story has been utilised for the television screen ever since the medium began. Jackanory is probably the best example, whether it was the much missed Bernard Cribbins spinning a yarn or the great Rik Mayall reading Road Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine with a feverish fervour, it is perhaps the most primal form of drama there is, and is integral to children’s development.

St. Vincent has opened up about her follow-up to 2021’s Daddy’s Home, and it sure sounds interesting. In a new interview with Mojo magazine, the artist born Annie Clark said her new album is “darker and harder” than her most recent project and described its sound as “urgent and psychotic.”
Clark self-produced the album and recorded it at her own Compound Fracture studio in LA, New York’s Electric Lady, and Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio in Chicago. “I needed to go deeper in finding my own sonic vocabulary,” she said about the experience. “I like to think of [the record] as post-plague pop, it’s a lot about heaven and hell — the metaphorical kinds. Which is appropriate, because sitting alone in a studio for that many hours I would say is a version of hell.”
She added that the album is filled with “lots of guitars” alongside ’70s and ’80s analog synths.

Anthrax members Scott Ian and Charlie Benante have teamed up with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl for a cover of Bad Brains’ “The Regulator” that will be released as a vinyl single on Record Store Day (April 20th).

While the rest of us were chowing down on chips and wings on our sofas, Dave Grohl spent his Super Bowl Sunday barbecuing for the homeless.
According to Hope of the Valley, Grohl and his friends donated over 24 hours of their time to barbecuing 70 pork butts for The Woodlands Family Shelter in Woodland Hills, California.
“Thank you to Dave and his friends from his studio for hanging out with us and spreading love through a hot meal,” Hope of the Valley wrote in an Instagram post that also included footage of Grohl and co. in action.
Grohl has donated his time and BBQ skills to feed the homeless on multiple occasions in recent years. Back in December, he spent a day off from Foo Fighters’ Australian tour feeding the homeless in Melbourne, Australia. Before that, he spent more than 18 hours behind a smoker cooking for at-risk people impacted by winter storms in Southern California.

Jack Black has been in his fair share of hit movies over the years, from "School of Rock" to "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" and everything in between. The man has been a bonafide movie star for decades. But even the biggest stars have to suffer a misfire every once in a while and, for Black, one of his biggest misfires was also a very personal endeavor. 2006's "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny" brought the rock duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass to the big screen with initially disastrous results. The 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony is being held this weekend and we’re predicting the winners in all of the major categories!
Sza leads the pack this year with nine nominations.
In general, women are totally crushing it: Sza, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Miley Cyrus all dominated the biggest categories. Jon Batiste is actually the only man in the Record of the Year and Album of the Year categories.
Taylor has a chance at setting a record for most Album of the Year wins if she picks up the award for Midnights. She currently is tied for the most wins in the category with three previous wins!
Make sure to tune in on Sunday for the Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah for the fourth time. The show is airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ starting at 8pm Et. Check out the full list of nominations.

Well, really, it was one musician concocting a grand plan to dismantle the record industry, bring back a massive revival of 1960s psychedelic rock, and achieve total world domination. His name was Anton Newcombe, and this singer/multi-instrumentalist fronted a San Francisco group blessed with one of the greatest names of any 1990s band: the Brian Jonestown Massacre. The only thing better than their moniker was the music itself, which replicated the vintage, acid-soaked sounds of...
