Mike Gray
Edit
Author, Filmmaker and Drug Reformer.
His son,
Lucas Gray
, is a storyboard artist for The Simpsons.
Before he started work on the screenplay for
The China Syndrome (1979)
, he typed out the entire screenplay of
The African Queen (1951)
in order to learn the format. He wrote it standing up, because he had read that
Ernest Hemingway
wrote that way.
He graduated from Purdue, where he studied aeronautical engineering, and became an editor for Aviation Age. He later moved to Chicago and started making television commercials and documentaries.
