The new trailer brings back the trailercore version of “Day-o (The Banana Boat Song)” from first teaser, plus better looks at Ryder as now-adult goth Lydia Deetz, Ortega as her daughter Astrid, and, of course, Michael Keaton as Tex Avery-esque demon Betelgeuse.

You can check it out in the embed above.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was in development hell for decades before it finally got made. In 1990, Jonathan Gems was hired to write a sequel that was going to be titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. Burton considered having Daniel Waters rewrite that script, Pamela Norris did rewrite it, and Warner Bros. offered Kevin Smith the chance to do another rewrite. He turned it down. Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write and produce a new version of a sequel in 2011. Mike Vukadinovich was brought on to rewrite his script in 2017.

Are moviegoers really clamoring for more of the ghost with the most? Tim Burton and Warner Bros. certainly think so. After dropping a disappointingly tepid teaser trailer last March, the Goth King of Hollywood (who probably single-handedly kept the ubiquitous shopping mall mainstay Hot Topic in business) has just unleashed a full theatrical trailer that, hopefully, whets fans' appetite for another ghoulish, antic-filled adventure headlined by the always game Michael Keaton.
For those of us who came of age during Burton's bizarro Hollywood auteur era (which kicked off with 1985's timeless classic "Pee Wee's Big Adventure), we're hoping one of the most visually distinct filmmakers in the history of the medium has rediscovered his macabre mojo. "Beetlejuice" (which he once described as his anti-Spielberg film), "Edward Scissorhands," and his two Batman movies looked completely unlike any other studio productions. There is no doubt that Star Trek is one of the best-known and most beloved science-fiction franchises of all time. The series has been a pioneering genre work that was both commercially successful and became a cult classic. Despite a few bumps here and there, the franchise as a whole is still alive and well, with several pioneering shows being produced in recent years, but the movie franchise saw its most recent work eight years ago when Star Trek Beyond was released back in 2016. We have recently reported that Paramount is looking into rebooting the movie series and that acclaimed filmmaker Simon Kinberg is currently in talks to lead the reboot as the main producer.
And while it had already been known, even before Kinberg’s potential involvement, that Toby Haynes, who directed episodes of the Star Wars series Andor, was attached to direct the new movie and that Seth Grahame-Smith...

The Star Trek reboot may get another producer after hiring writer Seth Grahame-Smith and Andor director Toby Haynes for the project. Simon Kinberg, who produced the X-Men films, is reportedly in talks with Paramount Pictures to serve as a producer in the new iteration of the franchise. However, fans are not happy with Kinberg’s involvement in the project as his recent portfolio has been largely lackluster.

Paramount Pictures has a few successful franchises, but the studio's apparent inability to do more with Star Trek is beyond confusing.
When J.J. Abrams relaunched the franchise in 2009, the stage was set for it to become a mainstream property, something which looked increasingly likely when the sequels - Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond - were also moderate box office hits. Unfortunately, Star Trek 4 has been stuck in development hell for several years.
Filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino, Matt Shakman, Lindsey Beer, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are just some of the names who have been attached to the movie in recent years, with none of them ultimately sticking around.
Now, with it seemingly no closer to becoming a reality, it seems Paramount's next prequel project is finally taking shape.

It's fair to say that, since 2016's Star Trek Beyond, the big and small screen incarnations of the venerable sci-fi franchise have certainly diverged in terms of output. While the films have been seemingly stuck in dry dock as different options are announced, only to fail to appear, the TV universe has exploded in all sorts of interesting directions. Part of the Paramount+ success appears to be having Alex Kurtzman as a producing/writing guiding light, and it seems that Paramount's studio division is aiming to have someone take over the film side in a similar capacity. That someone? Simon Kinberg.

It was announced today in the Hollywood Reporter that Simon Kinberg is taking over the development of the new "Star Trek" feature film, currently working its way through pre-production at Paramount. This new film will be the fourth to be connected to the Kelvin timeline of "Star Trek," a timeline which started with the events of J.J. Abrams' 2009 "Star Trek" film. As of this writing, Toby Haynes ("Andor") is slated to direct, while Seth Grahame-Smith has signed on to write. Kinberg is a notable Hollywood player who wrote "X-Men: The Last Stand," "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "X-Men: Apocalypse," and "Dark Phoenix" (among many others) and who produced "The New Mutants," "Deadpool," "Logan," "X-Men: First Class," "Cinderella," "The Martian," and "Elysium" (among many others). He is a franchise guy through-and-through, and Paramount likely wanted a new producer with high-profile experience.

Director Tim Burton’s 1988 classic Beetlejuice (watch it Here) ended with the title character sitting down in a waiting room, and it looked like he was going to be in there for a very long time. It’s fitting that we left him in that situation, given that fans have had to wait thirty-six years for the follow-up Beetlejuice Beetlejuice – but now the wait is almost over. The sequel is set to reach theatres on September 6th, and a newly unveiled teaser poster takes us back to that waiting room with Beetlejuice while acknowledging the long wait between films. X-Men: Dark Phoenix’s Simon Kinberg is in talks to produce new Star Trek film franchise at Paramount
As Paramount+ is keeping the Star Trek brand going with their new TV iterations, the movie side of the mountain has been hatching a plan to revitalize Gene Roddenberry’s vision of a peaceful future for the big screen. There are multiple projects in development, which include a swan song for the Kelvin Universe crew which began with 2009’s J.J. Abrams Star Trek. Early last year, Abrams teased his Star Trek 4, saying, “I will say it’s the first time [since the original reboot] that we have a story that feels as compelling as the first one.” However, the series star, Chris Pine, is kept in the dark about it, “In Star Trek land, the actors are usually the last people to find out anything. I know costume designers that have read scripts before the actors.”

The project has already been in development at the studio for some time, with Seth Grahame-Smith (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) handing the screenplay and Toby Haynes on board to direct. It was recently revealed that, after a successful few years on streaming, Paramount Pictures is finally making moves to bring the Star Trek franchise back to theaters. However, a fourth instalment in the J.J. Abrams-produced franchise getting yet another writer is news to lead star Chris Pine.
The actor first played Captain Kirk in 2009's Star Trek, later reprising the role in 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness and 2016's Star Trek Beyond.
Abrams sharing plans for a fourth instalment a few years back left most of the cast scratching their heads as none of them were signed up to appear at the time. Now, after several aborted launches, Steve Yockey is the latest scribe to take a crack at the screenplay.
Asked about that by Business Insider (via SFFGazette.com), Pine said, "I honestly don’t know. There was something in the news of a new writer coming on board.

Chris Pine was taken by surprise when news hit that Steve Yockey, creator of the Max series “The Flight Attendant,” had signed on to write the script for “Star Trek 4.” Why? “I thought there was already a script,” the actor recently told Business Insider during an interview on his “Poolman” press tour.
Pine’s not wrong, as a potential “Star Trek 4” has gone through multiple iterations in the years since the 2016 release of “Star Trek Beyond.” Pine took on the role of Captain Kirk in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 franchise reboot “Star Trek,” and reprised the character in 2013’s “Star Trek Into Darkness” and 2016’s “Beyond.” Variety exclusively reported in March that Paramount Pictures remained committed to making a fourth “Star Trek” film to be headlined by Pine and his co-stars.
The actor’s fellow “Star Trek” cast members include Zachary Quinto (as Cmdr. Spock), Zoe Saldaña (as Lt.

William Shatner recently told Canadian Press that he wouldn’t rule out returning as Captain Kirk in a new “Star Trek” project if the script impressed him. While the actor’s age might pose an issue as Shatner turned 93 years old in March, that’s nothing a bit of de-aging technology couldn’t fix.
“It’s an intriguing idea,” Shatner said about returning as Kirk. “It’s almost impossible. But if was a great role and so well-written and if there were a reason to be there not just to make a cameo appearance, but if there were a genuine reason for the character appearing, I might consider it.”
Shatner suggested that he could play a younger version of the Starship Enterprise captain through de-aging technology, similar to how 80-year-old Harrison Ford turned up as a much younger Indiana Jones (circa the character’s age in “Raiders of the Lost Ark...

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

Plot: Cinderella is pushed too far by her evil stepsisters and stepmother, which causes her to switch out her glass shoes and use the assistance of her Fairy Godmother to seek bloody vengeance.
Review: Everyone knows what they’re in for when it comes to these movies at this point, right? I don’t need to lay out the schpeal about public domain horror? Good, because it seems as though these films are here to stay. And in instances like this, I kind of get it. A twisted take on a tale that’s been told a thousand times? We saw Seth Grahame-Smith do something similar with his Pride, Prejudice and Zombies and even Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. So it’s not like this is a brand-new concept. The real question remains: how well does this film do with transforming the Cinderella story into one of horror?

James Gunn has been busy directing the first chapter of the new Dcu i.e. Superman (formerly Superman: Legacy). He is also simultaneously directing some episodes of Peacemaker season 2 and is handling all the grunt work that comes with being the co-chief of the new DC Studios.
It seems like part of the grunt work includes answering for the past projects of the Dcu (then the Dceu). The filmmaker was recently asked by a fan about the Green Lantern TV show for HBO Max that was in development starring American Horror Story’s Finn Wittrock. Gunn reportedly clarified the status of the project, which was announced back in 2021.
Actor Finn Wittrock Was Supposed to Headline A Green Lantern Series A still from Green Lantern: Emerald Knights
The Dceu has announced many projects in the past including films and TV shows that eventually never saw the light of day.

Paramount is looking to get a new Star Trek film in cinemas in 2025 – but why this adventure, and where might things go? A few thoughts.
Another week, another Star Trek film announcement. So currently goes the online discourse for the seemingly endless array of Star Trek cinematic announcements we have experienced for almost ten years since the last big screen endeavour, Star Trek Beyond, in 2016.
As I in part chronicle in my book Lost Federations: The Unmade History of Star Trek, that decade has seen us face promises of movies including Chris Hemsworth returning as Captain James T Kirk’s legendary father in a time travel installment; Noah Hawley of Fargo fame penning a tale about a deadly virus (perhaps understandably shelved after a certain pandemic…); directors including Matt Shakman and Sj Clarkson coming and going; even Quentin Tarantino considering turning The Original Series gangster episode ‘A Piece of the Action’ into a movie event.

As much as we love them, the Star Trek movies have their share of mistakes. God stealing a starship, John Harrison revealing himself as Khan, McCoy shaving off his beard in The Motion Picture. But it looks like the movie franchise is about to outdo them all.

Paramount Pictures has finally unclogged the Star Trek franchise on the big screen – and a new film is landing in 2025.
Since 2016 and the release of Star Trek Beyond, it’s little secret that Paramount Pictures has been struggling to work out what to do with big screen Trek. While the franchise is thriving on the small screen, getting a new film going has proven taxing. Infamously, Quentin Tarantino was noodling with a possible project at one point, while director Sj Clarkson was hired at one stage too, before she went on to do Madame Web instead.
There’s been uncertainty as to whether the ‘Kelvin’ crew from the last three films would be back, and there’s been uncertainty over whether it’s all going to have a day-one reboot.
Now? We have an answer. Earlier this year there was the suggestion that Paramount was looking to do a Star Trek origin film.

Captain's Log: Stardate 2024. It's been eight years since the USS Enterprise's last voyage on the big screen, with the franchise having since returned to its roots on television. During that period, the property has proliferated thanks to an influx of streaming series that's included everything from a "Next Generation" reunion to a raunchy cartoon and a wonderfully silly musical episode. But through it all, the question has lingered: when will Trekkies get to undertake another mission painted on the largest canvas available?

Somebody in Sin City must’ve whispered his name three times because Beetlejuice manifested on the Colosseum stage at Caesars Palace Tuesday afternoon.
During Warner Bros. Pictures’ CinemaCon presentation, Tim Burton and the stars of his upcoming Beetlejuice Beetlejuice turned up to rousing applause from the capacity crowd gathered for the annual National Association of Theater Owners convention. Burton walked out first and said getting his Beetlejuice family together again was like “a big weird family reunion.”
As such, he was quickly joined by the film’s Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci. (Upon walking on stage, Keaton joked, “I wasn’t alerted to the dress code” as everyone on his film was dressed in shades of black.) Stars Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega could not attend due to production schedules on their current projects, confirmed Warner Bros. chief Michael DeLuca who was joined onstage by his counterpart,...

When a franchise has lasted for upwards of half a century and is still going strong, the decision-makers in charge will inevitably run into one pressing question above all others: Where do we go next? "Star Trek" became a beloved institution among the nerdiest of fans for a pretty good reason, largely because of its wholesale commitment to treading new ground and envisioning a new future. But with the franchise firing on all cylinders these days and no signs of slowing down anytime soon, writers have become increasingly hard-pressed to boldly go where no others have gone before ... literally speaking, that is, since recent "Star Trek" shows like "Strange New Worlds," "Lower Decks," "Discovery," "Picard," and more have filled in all sorts of gaps in the official canon.
It's no secret that Paramount is eager to get back in the big-screen business for "Trek," however, and one of the more...

Steve Yockey, creator of the Max series “The Flight Attendant,” is joining Starfleet as the new screenwriter for “Star Trek 4.”
Story details remain under a powerful cloaking device, but Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot still intend the project to be the final chapter for the cast that rebooted the franchise in movie theaters with 2009’s “Star Trek,” including Chris Pine (as Capt. James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (as Cmdr. Spock), Zoe Saldaña (as Lt. Nyota Uhura), Karl Urban (as Dr. Leonard McCoy), John Cho (as Lt. Hikaru Sulu) and Simon Pegg (as chief engineer Montgomery Scott). (Variety first reported the news in its cover story on the future of the “Star Trek” franchise.)
Bringing the cast back following 2016’s “Star Trek Beyond” has proven trickier for the studio than finding an altruistic Ferengi. At least three previous attempts fell apart for various reasons, most recently with director Matt Shakman...
