One of the tiniest of Hollywood's character actors, Etienne appears as
the office manager in John Ford's "The Whole Town's Talking" where he
can be seen in the corridor of police headquarters talking to Donald
Meek, another extremely diminutive character actor. Meek appears to be
even taller than Etienne.
Survived by his widow, Dr. Violetta Shelton, an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist; and a sister in England.
The son of an artist, on stage from the age of seventeen at the Haymarket Theatre in London. In the U.S. from 1893, first theatrical performance as Lord Babberly in "Charley's Aunt".
Appeared in no less than 26 Broadway shows from 1900-1932, including
the comedy, Twentieth Century (1932).
