Last Friday, the apocalyptic supernatural Spanish horror film Everyone Will Burn was given a theatrical release in select locations by Drafthouse Films. Now the film has made its way to VOD (it’s available on iTunes at This Link), and to help you decide whether or not this is one you’d like to check out, we have the trailer embedded above.
David Hebrero, who has racked up many credits as a cinematographer and a gaffer, directed Everyone Will Burn from a screenplay he wrote with Javier Kiran. The story centers on María José, an outlier in her small Spanish town, who is grieving after her young son’s suicide. As she teeters on the brink of suicide herself, she encounters a mysterious young girl caked in dirt. It is quickly revealed that the girl has telekinetic powers and might be the harbinger of the apocalyptic prophecy that exists within town legend.

Estíbaliz Urresola Solaguren’s celebrated Spanish feature “20,000 Species of Bees” and Kattia G. Zúñiga’s Panamanian drama “Sister & Sister” took the top prizes at the Malaga Film Festival, garnering the Golden Biznagas for Spanish and Latin American pictures respectively.
“20,000 Species of Bees” also won best supporting actress for Patricia López Arnaiz and picked up the Spanish Cinematographic Informers Association’s Feroz Puerta Oscura award. The film’s success follows two awards in Berlin, including a Silver Bear for Sofía Otero for her portrayal of a young girl going through a gender crisis.
For Zúñiga, the Golden Biznaga is sure to help further propel “Sister & Sister,” an autobiographical story about two teenage sisters who travel from Costa Rica to Panama in search of their absent father. Pic drew upbeat reviews in Malaga following on its SXSW world premiere.

Stars: Saturnino García, Félix Gómez, Elena Furiase, Montse Pla, Dunia Rodríguez, Nacho Guerreros, Erika Sanz, Federico Repetto, Vicky Jorge | Directed by Isaac Berrocal, Erika Elizalde, Manuel Martínez Velasco, Víctor Matellano, Piter Moreira
Based on an original idea by co-director Víctor Matellano, this black-and-white anthology film opens on Halloween night as children trick-or-treat. Gravedigger Mister Fettes (Saturnino García), preferring to be called Vampus, feels unappreciated for his work. He holds a sour outlook on the world, as established when he reads a news story about a hipster being stabbed 45 times and reacts by saying it wasn’t enough.
Matellano directs the wraparound segments, where Vampus acts as a storyteller to the audience in a manner resembling The Cryptkeeper. He also encounters many people whose lives he ends at the slightest irritation, before feeding them to his ghoulish pet named Toby. It’s constantly entertaining to watch this ill-tempered gravedigger that García terrifically brings alive.

With a delicately morose charm, Spanish actress-turned-director Liz Lobato is presenting her debut feature project, “Tierra de Nuestras Madres” as part of the 11th Fanfic Industria’s Ibero-American Work In Progress strand.
The farcical fable scrutinizing globalization takes place in the village of La Mancha, where residents know each other thoroughly and tend to their routines like clockwork. There, beloved curmudgeon and central protagonist Rosario makes the rounds selling drug-laced fig salt to her neighbors as the town’s unknowingly sold out from under them by a bankrupt mayor.
Shot in black and white, the film gives far more than it takes and absurdly relays the somber tale of corruption and a community bound to its roots so tightly its willing to sacrifice a soul or two to stay put, as futile an endeavor as that may be.

Mr. Fettes is the sinister and macabre grave digger, guardian of many creepy secrets. He buries the dead by day and unearths them at night for unspeakable purposes. He likes to be called Vampus and enjoys reading horror comics, especially necrophilia love stories. Vampus introduces us to four of his favourite stories. The particular take here is that all of these segments were directed by four filmmakers still waiting to make their feature film debut: Manuel M Velasco (La boda), Isaac Berrocal (La segunda cita), Erika Elizalde (Cumpleaños) and Piter Moreira (Linaje). Víctor Matellano is the only seasoned feature film director on the directing team and served as the movie’s creative producer apart from directing the Vampus wrap around segment. In fact, Saturnino García...

Actor Saturnino García serves as the host, playing a sinister gravedigger in this fantasy film made up of four standalone chapters being directed by first-time filmmakers. An anthology of horror stories, all introduced by a host in the guise of a sinister gravedigger. This is how Vampus Horror Tales is billed – a film that sees Saturnino García presenting each of its constituent parts. After the shoot was interrupted by the health crisis prompted by the coronavirus, the Basque-Leonese actor (Abracadabra) is once again playing the titular gravedigger in a film whose segments are directed by Manuel M Velasco (the one entitled La boda), Isaac Berrocal (La segunda cita), Erika Elizalde (Cumpleaños) and Piter Moreira (Linaje). As well as directing the Vampus segment, Víctor Matellano (Regresa el Cepa) will serve as the movie’s creative producer, and Colin Arthur (2001: A Space Odyssey) is supervising the special effects. Filming is taking.
