These days, you can’t turn around without finding a new medical drama on TV. Shows like New Amsterdam and 911 follow doctors, firefighters, and emergency service workers as they try to rescue patients and unsuspecting victims from tragedy. But before this overload of medical dramas, one show paved the way for firefighters and paramedics: Emergency! If you watched this show during its original run, you might wonder which Emergency! cast members are still alive.

Set in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, the 1970s action-adventure medical drama follows rescuers working as paramedics and firefighters. The show debuted as a midseason replacement in 1972, and IMDb lists the series run at 122 episodes in seven seasons and six two-hour TV movies until 1979.
Series creators previously worked on Dragnet and Adam-12, both about policing.

After #BoycottKeurig started trending on Twitter over the weekend, the coffee machine company’s CEO Bob Gamgort has expressed regret in an email to employees obtained by The Washington Post.
In case you’re not up to speed, the company announced in a tweet on Saturday that they were halting advertising on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show following the anchor’s controversial comments about Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who is facing allegations of sexual misconduct with teenage girls, one as young as 14.
This sparked a right-wing backlash, with Hannity calling for a boycott of the company — and his...

Earlier this year Quentin Tarantino announced he was abandoning his Western The Hateful Eight, following online leaks of the work-in-progress screenplay. "I gave it to six people," he fumed. "It's a betrayal. There's an ugly maliciousness to it." Tarantino said he would consider publishing the screenplay as a book, but insisted that, while he might return to it in the future, it would no longer be his next film. Happily, it's looking like he's now changed his mind.Following last month's live reading at Los Angeles museum Lacma, there are now reports that Tarantino has been re-enthused, and will start shooting The Hateful Eight before the end of the year with the whole cast from the La event. That means Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, Kurt Russell as bounty hunter John Ruth, Tim Roth as the English fop Oswaldo Mobray, Amber Tamblyn as Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix,...

The Hateful Eight reading cast
It looks like we will get to see The Hateful Eight after all. Quentin Tarantino was very mad when his script leaked and got published on the internet by places like Gawker. He was going to take his ball and go home and we'd never get to see The Hateful Eight.
Much like a toddler, Tarantino threw a tantrum until we all got tired of it. Then, he did a-by-all-accounts-badass reading of the script with some A-List talent. Now, it looks like those actors are going to re-convene in November of this year to shoot The Hateful Eight.
Showbiz 411 says the cast will fill out like the reading, so that'd be: Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, Kurt Russell as bounty hunter John Ruth, Amber Tamblyn as Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix, Michael Madsen as John Gage, Bruce Dern as General Smithers,...

From a project he vowed never to make after an early version of the script being leaked, to something that he's now honed with a subsequent draft and directed a live read from (review here), it looks like Quentin Tarantino is getting back in the, uh, saddle, with "The Hateful Eight." It looks like the movie is back on with plans to shoot the movie before the end of the year. At least that's what Showbiz 411 is reporting, with the site saying the western will roll in front of cameras in November, with basically the entire cast of the live read reprising their roles. So that means the ensemble this time around will include: Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, Kurt Russell as the cruel bounty hunter John Ruth, Tim Roth as the English “bit of a fop” Oswaldo Mobray, Amber Tamblyn as Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix,...

You've all heard about the live reading of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight that took place after the script leaked online and Tarantino decided to supposedly shelve the project until word came out that he was actually working on a new draft of the screenplay. Well, now you can own the official poster that was released during said live reading. The poster will cost you $45 with all proceeds going to Film Independent, pick up a copy for yourself right here. If you managed to get your hands on the screenplay, while those in attendance won't obviously be those cast in the film (though they could be) if it ever gets made, they included Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, James Parks as the driver O.B., Kurt Russell as bounty hunter John Ruth, aka 'The Hangman', Amber Tamblyn as his prisoner Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix,...

While Quentin Tarantino is suing Gawker Media over their decision to link to the leaked script for what would have been his new movie, The Hateful Eight, the writer/director held a live-reading of the first draft last night at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles with a star-studded cast. If you've managed to get your hands on the script, perhaps some of these character names will be familiar to you, but the actors most certainly will be as Samuel L. Jackson read the part of Major Marquis Warren, James Parks as the driver O.B., Kurt Russell as bounty hunter John Ruth, aka 'The Hangman', Amber Tamblyn as his prisoner Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix, Denis Menochet as the Frenchman Bob, Tim Roth as the Englishman Oswaldo Mobray, Michael Madsen as John Gage, Bruce Dern as Confederate General Smithers, Dana Gourrier as Minnie, Zoe Bell as...

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated
Scooby-Doo Created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears
Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated series produced and written by Mitch Watson
Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated series Showrunners (Supervising Producers) Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone
imdb, Cartoon Network, Various Times
One of the best procedurals currently on television is a half-hour cartoon that has been on television in one form or another since 1969 and was a major inspiration for what many (myself included) believe was the greatest serial drama in the history of television. The irony is that Scooby-Doo was solidly mediocre until the debut of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated last summer.
The reason that Scooby-Doo was mediocre for decades was that it was designed to protect children from violence on children’s television. When it debuted in 1969, it was intended to be a safer replacement for its more violent predecessors like Jonny Quest and Space Ghost. The series was formulaic to a...

When CBS originally announced The Good Wife it seemed like a terrible idea. Make a TV series about the wife of a fallen politician? The one forced by circumstances and her own ambition to stand by his side and publicly forgive him? Even when doing so means doubling your public humiliation?

Coming to your TV screen this week are no less than 60 season and series premieres, so we’re changing things up a bit by going daily with The TVLine-Up. (For those who must plan ahead, here is our complete Fall TV premieres calendar, plus I handily summarize what’s coming up the following day.)
But for now, here’s what’s happening on….
Tuesday, September 20
8/7c NCIS (CBS) | TV’s most-watched scripted series promises to kick off its ninth season with five can’t-miss minutes, and a bang. Or Ziva with bangs. (Not sure, my tape was garbled.)
8 pm Glee (Fox) | Nationals shmationals.

Just because FX’s Sons of Anarchy focuses on bikers and baddos, doesn’t mean the criminally underappreciated drama from Kurt Sutter can’t feature its share of soft and fuzzy moments. To wit: When the series returns in September, look for Opie (Ryan Hurst) and his soft-core porn “actress” Lyla (Winter Ave Zoli) to tie the knot.

Venture Capital is a term oft-bandied about, but sometimes it's a mysterious process. Speaking at Stanford University, Beth Seidenberg of Vc firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers tried to clear up a aspect: Whether a startup is worthy.
Check out the extract from her lecture--it's extremely easy to digest:
Seidenberg narrows the hunt down to five key criteria that need to be met before Kpcb will consider funding a startup:
A-plus LeadershipLarge, Fast-growing, Under-served MarketReasonable FinancingsSense of UrgencyMissionaries not Mercenaries
The key feature is strong leadership--it's absolutely vital as far as Kpcb is concerned and this makes good sense: Start-ups are often relatively small enterprises, with short management chains and they'll face significant challenges on a day-to-day basis. Good leadership is key to surviving these.
The remaining criteria also make pretty good sense, which is satisfying: Entrepreneurs have to be sensible about the value of their operation, keen to drive...

This weekend Sandra Bullock returns for more romantic comedy in The Proposal, this time dragging along Ryan Reynolds for the other half of the “will they or won’t they” formula. You can probably already guess the generic ending even before stepping foot in a theater, so it’s mostly just sit back and hope Reynolds pulls off another one-liner.
The predictable plot is par for the course with director Anne Fletcher, who walks down the aisle of another wedding rom-com after last year’s 27 Dresses. However, this proposal is a working world pun on office offers and engagement exchanges. Maggie (Bullock), a Canadian, has to get married in order to avoid being deported and losing her job at a New York City publishing firm. She comes to a mutual agreement (well, blackmail) with Andy (Reynolds) to play up the nuptials until she secures her citizenship. The rest of the...

Much in the way that Basic Instinct the previous year had Sharon Stone uncrossing her legs and the whole world hitting the pause button to the exclusion of everything else in the movie, Indecent Proposal was a film that rode to success on a single, solitary aspect of itself – the premise. Indecent Proposal ran with the oh-so nineties idea of a down-on-their-luck couple, David and Diana (Woody Harrelson and Demi Moore), facing financial ruin only to be offered a lifeline by billionaire industrialist John Gage (Robert Redford). Gage offers to pay them $1 million for one night with her, thus putting the question to couples all over the world – what would you do? In a time before the internet and our tabloid culture had erased the word taboo from our vocabulary, this became dinner-party catnip for the sexually repressed masses.
