Principal photography has just begun on the real life drama, which centers on the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City, which helped launch the modern gay civil rights movement. "Stonewall" will focus on Danny Winters (Irvine), a young man who leaves his troubled home and finds solace in the shady bar the Stonewall Inn, which is soon raided by the police, sparking the landmark riot. Meyers will play a suave patron named Trevor, while Perlman will portray the bar's corrupt manager who has mafia connections.

If you have not seen the original 1971 Straw Dogs film from writers David Zela Goodman, Sam Peckinpah and Gordon Williams, then this is your second chance, fourty years later. The original placed an American man 'round some good ol' English country folk. This latest interpretation will keep the cast all seemingly American, as seen in this first trailer. Also, possibly looking at issues of a class divide, with James Marsden playing the bookish David Sumner and Alexander Skarsgard acting as the blue collar Charlie, this is interesting, yet violent material. Have a look at the clip below, as some good ol' boys look to make a lasting and brutal impression on Amy Sumner (Kate Bosworth).
