She was married to Rowland H. Smith, John Curtis Burn and Donald McKaig Ross. She died on April 22, 1980 in Columbia, Missouri, USA.

- Froman's life story was the subject of a Hollywood biopic (With a Song in My Heart (1952)), starring Susan Hayward. Froman supplied Hayward's vocals for the musical numbers.
- American band singer, graduate of Christian College in 1926. Worked for NBC radio in the 1930's, the joined the Ziegfeld Follies (befriending Fanny Brice) and later hosted her own TV show for the CBS network.
- On her USO flight to Europe in February of 1943, her plane crashed into the Tagus River at Lisbon, Portugal. One of the few passengers to survive, although severely injured, she was rescued by the co-pilot of the plane, John Curtis Burn.
- She was awarded 3 Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Radio at 6321 Hollywood Boulevard; for Recording at 6145 Hollywood Boulevard; and for Television at 1645 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.
- Inducted into the Boone County [Missouri] Hall of Fame in 2015.
