The composer who is suing over Hans Zimmer's score to the Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave has barely survived the first round, losing some of his more legally audacious claims after a judge reviewed 20th Century Fox's motion to dismiss. Richard Friedman alleges that his 2004 composition titled "To Our Fallen" was improperly used to create the main theme. His lawsuit proposes an interesting theory on access: His work was included in a 2008 episode of the ABC series Desperate Housewives and created at the same recording studio used by Zimmer to do his score for 12 Years

"12 Years a Slave" may have shamelessly ripped off "Desperate Housewives" ... if you believe a new lawsuit.Famed composer Hans Zimmer is the culprit ... so claims the guy who composed the song for that Housewives show.Richard Friedman claims in 2004 he composed "To Our Fallen," which appeared on the ABC show. He says in his lawsuit his song was enhanced in Zimmer's studio. Friedman claims it's no coincidence that in 2013 Zimmer's signature song in "12 Years" was eerily similar to his tune.

It's October and that means a month of Awfully Good horror flicks! Born (2007) Director: Richard Friedman Stars: Alison Brie, Kane Hodder, Joan Severance Annie from "Community" gets knocked up by Satan. I know I'm not the only Human Being out there that loves NBC's "Community." Last week, as study was published in the International Journal of Sexual Health on the prevalence of postcoital dysphoria (Pcd) in women. Postcoital dysphoria is a fancy medical term for feeling depressed, irritable, or anxious after sex, rather than the more usual relief and relaxation, and the fact that somebody came up with a medical term for the problem means it's hardly unknown. It has not, however, been well studied. This particular study is in a journal that I don't have access to, so I can't analyze it in depth, but from the abstract and comments made by one of the authors to the press, it seems that the researchers were working under the hypothesis that women might experience these feelings after sex because of trauma from past abuse.
They interviewed 222 college students about the prevalence of feeling of depression after sex for their full lifetime and for a four-week period.

Goldman Sachs boss Lloyd Blankfein has warned his employees to avoid high-profile spending, as The Post reported -- but his wife evidently didn't get the memo.
Laura Blankfein and her friend Susan Friedman, wife of another Goldman honcho, Richard Friedman, caused a huge scene at Super Saturday in the Hamptons last weekend when they arrived at the event before the noon start time and balked at waiting in line with the other ticket-holders.
"Their behavior was obnoxious. They were screaming," said one witness. Blankfein said...

While not taking the stage, singing autographs or appearing on video (see the latter here) at our recent New York Weekend of Horrors convention, fan-favorite Jason actor Kane Hodder took a moment to chat up a few upcoming projects. One of them sees him joining the ranks of those who hunt real-life spirits of the dead.
“It’s called Hollywood Ghost Hunters,” he tells Fango, “and it’s a group that’s newly formed by myself and a buddy of mine, Rick McCallum, a stuntman who has done a lot of monster stuff. It also includes Adam Green [Hodder’s Hatchet director], Richard Friedman [who helmed the actor in Born, out next week on Lionsgate DVD] and R.A. Mihailoff [Texas Chainsaw III’s Leatherface actor], among others, and we’re going to be aggressively investigating haunted places.”
Beyond the obvious hook of having actors and filmmakers associated with scary stuff looking into supposed actual spooks, Hodder notes, “All of us have, on our own, been interested in places like that, and we...
