It’s not unusual for “Bridgerton” cast members to strip down on screen, with the Netflix series quickly gaining a reputation for its love scenes after its premiere on the streamer in 2020. Ahead of the coming third season, actor Nicola Coughlan revealed that her negotiations with Netflix and Shondaland included the production of an alternate cut of episodes that did not include those more mature scenes — for the express purpose of showing it to her parents.
Coughlan’s comments came during an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1 after the hosts floated the rumor that she asked for a “PG version.” The actor says she even went as far as getting the language regarding an alternate cut, taming down the TV-ma rating, included in her contract.
“It’s literally written into my contract. People think I’m saying it as a joke,” Coughlan said. “I just don’t want to … We grew up Irish Catholic.

Nicola Coughlin and Luke Newton teased their upcoming on-screen romance at a Valentine’s Day “Bridgerton” fan event in London.
Coughlin plays Lady Penelope in the show while Newton is her longtime crush Colin Bridgerton. After two seasons of meaningful looks and crossed wires, the duo may finally get together in Season 3, which drops on Netflix in two parts later this year (May 16 and June 13).
“It was scary that we were friends to begin with because if you thought about doing that stuff with your friend it’s quite like ‘Ooh,’” Coughlin said of some of their racier scenes. “But then we could talk about it and have a laugh about it and ended up quite fun.”
Newton pointed out that it’s not just Lady P and Colin who are getting hot and bothered in the ‘Ton, as the upscale society in the show is called. “It’s just steamy across the board,...

If you're alone this Valentine's Day, fear not.
Bridgerton and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live are here to help you experience all the romance and soul-crushing anxiety of a first date with a hot but sketchy Tinder match!
Both shows marked the occasion of February 14 by surprising their fans with the gift of teasers.
Yes, Bridgerton Season 3 might not get here until May 16, but Netflix is whetting our appetites with a sneak peek that features a tense exchange between Lady Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and potential suitor Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
“Because I embarrass you, of course, you would never court me,” a fed-up Lady P says to the third-eldest Bridgerton sibling, adding:
"I am the laughingstock of the town, even when I change my entire wardrobe."
We think anyone who's ever attempted to reinvent their look can relate to that sentiment!

Exclusive: Thunderbirds are go, to Wow Presents Plus.
RuPaul’s Drag Race producer World of Wonder’s streaming service has snapped up rights to all 32 episodes of the iconic 1965 series, which will drop on the platform in the U.S. and Canada on Christmas Eve.
Created by Gerry Anderson, Thunderbirds originally debuted on ITV in 1965 and gained notoriety for its pioneering artform called “supermarionation.” The 32-episode series follows the Tracy family in the year 2026 as they run ‘International Rescue’ – a top-secret organization whose ongoing mission is to rescue people trapped in extraordinarily dangerous situations using their advanced Thunderbirds machines.
“Part of our mission with Wow Presents Plus is to bring viewers classics that deserve another look,” said World of Wonder co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.
“The artistry and humor of Thunderbirds is as fresh as the day it was made. Barbie is not the only doll who loves pink.

This week, the BBC announced the latest Blue Peter presenter – wheelchair racer Abby Cook – making her the 42nd presenter in the 65-year history of this wholesome children’s entertainment show.
Blue Peter is famous for being the longest-running children’s TV programme in the world, as well as for its iconic badge, and its notoriously disastrous time capsules.
But in amongst the strange craft projects, ‘fun’ facts and sometimes controversial competitions, Blue Peter had some real geek gems:
Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill Met a Tortoise and Ate Star Wars Stew (1980)
Through a 2023 lens, this seems like a fever dream, but against the odds it all actually happened. To celebrate the release of The Empire Strikes Back, the Blue Peter team treated us to an appearance from R2D2, a strangely silent C3P0, ‘hairy old Chewbacca’ and Darth Vader.
Then the real fun happens: Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill...

Jane Austen knew a thing or two about complicated women and the way they move through the world. The author’s iconic bibliography — from “Pride and Prejudice” and “Emma” to “Sense and Sensibility,” and those are the just the English class curriculum bangers — has always hinged on indelible heroines and their Regency-era attempts to get their lives in order. These stories are both beholden to their time and place and undeniably universal in their concerns and charms.
Austen’s books have inspired all manner of adaptations on both stage and screen, from the faithful (Ang Lee’s luminous “Sense and Sensibility”) to the lightly loosened and even the straight-up free-wheeling (“Bridget Jones’s Diary”) to the mostly inane (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”). Austen’s books incisively depict a specific time in British life, but her keen understanding of human interactions and desires can happily be transplanted to a range of stories.
