- Canadian Filmmaker Bruce Fontaine got his start in film by moving to Hong Kong in 1988 (considered by many the Golden Age of Hong Kong film) where he worked as an Actor & Stunt Performer working with many of Hong Kong's action icons including Jackie Chan ('Operation Condor'), Stephen Chow ('Curry & Pepper'), Sammo Hung ('She Shoots Straight') & many more. Fontaine, a martial arts expert, made a name for himself with his remarkable flexibility and kicking ability, and became one of the most prolific actor/fighters during the "gwailo" bad guy boom of Hong Kong cinema.
Returning to Vancouver, Canada in 1996 Bruce worked as an Actor, Stunt Performer, Fight Choreographer & Stunt Coordinator and also worked extensively in the field of Motion Capture for Electronic Arts. He would also go on to 2nd Unit Direct, Produce & Direct. Bruce made his Directorial debut in 2015 with his independent Action feature film 'Beyond Redemption'. Shot for a budget of $45,000, it was released in the US in 2017 through Well Go USA (& sold over 30 countries), received a worldwide BluRay release & was seen on Netflix. Beyond Redemption was done as a homage to the Hong Kong films Bruce worked in the 80s/90s.

Bruce was also one of the only Westerners in Hong Kong to be asked to action choreograph & stunt coordinate in Hong Kong. Since that time he has done a multitude of things ranging from journalism (writing for film & martial arts magazines) to color commentator (ESPN's 1997 first ever broadcast of the World Wushu Kung Fu Championships) and has been the subject of numerous TV, magazine & radio show interviews in Canada, the US & Hong Kong. Bruce has also produced numerous instructional videos on martial arts & health / fitness related topics. Bruce has also done numerous public speaking engagements & MC work. He has also of course worked in numerous North American productions shot in Vancouver ranging from Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles & The Crow TV series to I Robot & Pay Check. He was brought in by ace stunt coordinator Scott Ateah, first to train actors Frankie Muniz (Malcolm of Macolm in the Middle) & Angie Harmon, and then later choreograph their fight scenes. At that same time Bruce was brought in to act as both stunt double and sword fight choreographer on the zombie movie 'House of the Dead'. He also choreographed the 'Crouching Tiger' inspired episode of the Smallville TV series.
Bruce has also worked both as a stunt performer & a stunt coordinator for numerous motion capture shoots for Electronic Arts for titles such as 'Ultima Online', 'Marvel Nemsis (aka: Clash of the Superheroes 1 & 2)', 'Repo Man', 'Fight Night - Nex Gen', 'FIFA Street Soccer', 'FIFA Basketball', 'Def Jam', 'Bond 007 - From Russia with Love' .
Since setting up West Coast Chinese Martial Arts back in 1996, he has trained not only many top competitive & recreational Wushu athletes but a multitude of stunt performers looking to round out their skill sets with Modern Wushu and Bruce's brand of Hong Kong style film fighting.
