- Radu Florescu was born on October 23, 1925 in Bucharest, Romania. He was a writer and actor, known for Proud Heritage (1989), In Search of Dracula (1974) and The Defender (2004). He died on May 18, 2014 in Mougins, Alpes-Maritimes, France.
- Professor Emeritus of history at Boston College, and former honorary consul of Romania for New England.
- In their book "In Search of Dracula", he and Raymond McNally held that Bram Stoker based Count Dracula on Vlad Tepes, a 15th-century prince of Wallachia (Romania), who was responsible for the murders of tens of thousands of people using especially-gruesome methods.
