At the climax of Joel Schumacher's 1995 film "Batman Forever," the title hero (Val Kilmer) treks out to a foreboding island where the Riddler (Jim Carrey) is hiding out with an infernal machine and a kidnapping victim. He flies there in his Batwing airplane, while Robin (Chris O'Donnell) follows in a newly built Batboat, a ridged, H.R. Giger-like hydrofoil with an enormous bat tail. Batman and Robin stand next to the Boat for one scene as Robin gets in. In the following scene, Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) misfires missiles at the Batboat from the Riddler's home base, handily blowing it up. It was on screen for maybe two minutes. Why take a Batboat at all?
The cynicism within all of us will instantly point out that the Batboat was included in "Batman Forever" for purely commercial reasons; it was clearly an excuse for Warner Bros. to market one additional...

We already know what fans have to say regarding the comparisons of our 2015 and the 2015 from Back to the Future II ("Where are our self-lacing sneakers, Nike?!), but what do the folks who helped conceptualize the fictionalized future have to say about it all? Newsweek [via io9] spoke to "future consultant" Tim Flattery and conceptual artist Edward Eyth about their work on the popular Back to the Future sequel. “I totally forgot that it took place in 2015,” Flattery tells Newsweek, “and once I started seeing all the stuff on the Internet about it, I went, ‘Oh yeah, of course!’” The 2015 in the movie is most notable for featuring flying vehicles, self-lacing sneakers and self-drying jackets, not to mention...

Since it's 2015, we're going to get tons of Back to the Future related items throughout the year. Not only is that the year in which Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to the future in Back to the Future Part II, but it's also the 30th anniversary of the original Back to the Future. However, today we want to focus on the middle sequel, because Newsweek just did a feature story with "future consultant" Tim Flattery about some of the future technology that was imagined for the time traveling adventure follow-up. And with that story comes some concept art from Edward Eyth from items we never saw realized on the screen. Look! Here's some of the unused concept art from Back to the Future Part II (via Movies.com & io9): And since not everyone is as obsessed with Back to the Future as some of us, Flattery actually forgot...

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 is definitely one of the best Spider-Man movie that has been made. I rewatched it a few months ago, and was once again enthralled by its greatness. Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus played a huge part in why that movie was so good. If you haven't seen this movie in awhile, I suggest you watch it to remind yourself how good it actually was. When you don't see a great movie in awhile sometimes a person can forget just how good it was. Some concept art has surfaced of Doc Ock that was created by Tim Flattery. This is some really great stuff that gives us a glimpse at what the character could have looked like in the film.

We have more concept art from Captain America: The Winter Solider featuring some action-packed scenes from the film. The art was created Tim Flattery, and it was used by Industrial Light and Magic to help create the special effects for the film. You can see more of the process that Ilm went through in bringing these designs to life over on Animation World Network. I also included some digital designs that that show off the interior of the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft.

Now that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is out, artist Tim Flattery is able to share his concept art with the world. It’s gotta be hard working on a film for several years without being able to tell anyone about it.
In case you’re wondering, there is an art book for Captain America: The Winter Soldier available now on Amazon.
Thanks to Cbm for finding these from Flattery’s portfolio.

Here's some very early concept art for Bryan Singer's first X-Men film from back in 2000. It gives us some very different character and concept designs from what actually ended up in the movie. The concept art was done by Tim Flattery, and it definitely would have given the movie a very different feel. I'm not really a big fan of these designs, but I wasn't a big fan of the costume designs that were used in the film either.

A new collection of fantastic concept art has surfaced from the live-action adaptation of Akira film that never ended up happening. Who knows, maybe one day it will happen? In the meantime, just go watch the original anime movie because it's badass!
The concept art you see here comes from several different artists for several different directors that were attached to the project over the years. There's a lot of fantastic artwork here that features Tetsuo's big finale, the bowling alley, the freeway, the Ducati Demolitore, the Marquee bar, and more!
Here's Concept Art by Tim Flattery, for director Ruairi Robinson.
Concept Art by Rodolfo Dimaggio, possibly for director Jaume Collet-Serra.
Concept Art by Tommy Lee Edwards for director Albert Hughes.
Here's a description of the film they were trying to make:
Kaneda is a bar owner in Neo-Manhattan who is stunned when his brother, Tetsuo, is abducted by government agents led by The Colonel.

If you've been following the saga of Warner Bros. failed attempt to make a live-action remake of Akira, you will know that the studio has gone through at least three directors. Below you you will see concept art that Tommy Lee Edwards created for Albert Hughes' ("The Book of Eli") version. Then there is Tim Flattery's artwork, which I believe was intended for Irish short film director, Ruairi Robinson. Lastly, there is Rodolfo Dimaggio artwork of Tetsuo's big finale, the bowling alley, the freeway, Ducati Demolitore, and the Marquee bar. I'm speculating, but the art seems to fit with Jaume Collet-Serra's ("Orphan") vision. After all that has happened with Kickstarter this week, Fund This Film seems to be a more necessary regular feature than ever. Not all projects can be set up through a major studio and involve Hollywood stars and be based off a property with a built-in fanbase. Some are like this week’s selection, Momentum, an ambitious short with a much smaller goal and much bigger task in finding supporters. And yet there is some Hollywood talent involved, as the three creators of this film are professional concept artists in the biz: Robert Simons worked on Ender’s Game and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peggy Chung worked on Pacific Rim and Mark Yang is an Imagineer for Disney. And visual effects supervisor Kyle Spiker worked on Avatar. Director Michael Chance previously made Project Arbiter, one of those hot sci-fi shorts called “the next District 9” a while back. If their resumes aren’t enough, some...
