Exclusive: Broadway casting director Duncan Stewart, whose big-name clients include the Tony-winning Hadestown, the new Life of Pi and the acclaimed The Great Comet of 1812, is dissolving his Stewart/Whitley agency after 14 years to head up the new casting arm of global live event company Rws Entertainment Group.
Rws’ new casting division will be called Arc, and will mine talent for theater, film, television and commercial projects. With the establishment of Arc, Rws’ old casting division, Binder Casting, will, like Stewart/Whitley, dissolve.
Stewart co-founded Stewart/Whitley with Benton Whitley in 2009. Whitley has not yet announced his plans.

Emmy-winning veteran casting director Barbara Fiorentino has joined Hulu as Head of Talent and Casting, reporting to VP Originals Beatrice Springborn. This is the first time Hulu has had an in-house head of casting, underscoring the streaming platform’s growth in the original programming arena.

Producers Jason Shuman (“Lone Survivor”) and Zachary Green (“Spartan”) have announced the debut of the Launch, a first of its kind Million Dollar Screenplay Competition for college students. The competition will reward eight finalists with $100,000 grants each. The writer behind the grand prize-winning screenplay will receive a production budget of at least one million dollars to help him or her turn their script into a feature.
Launch is open to college students around the world enrolled in an accredited two-year, four-year college/university or graduate program. Brandi Brice and Dana Gergely have been friends ever since they met while assisting casting director Barbara Fiorentino. Then in 2007, while they were working as associates in different offices, Disney Channel hired Brice to cast its new series "The Suite Life on Deck." Feeling she wanted a partner, she contacted Gergely, and the pair established Brice/Gergely Casting that year. "The producers of 'Suite Life' really gave us our shot as casting directors," Brice says. "I think it just takes somebody to believe that you can do it. They gave us a chance, and I think that we've proved we can do this job. We've been working together ever since."Although other casting partnerships may split duties, Brice and Gergely enjoy sitting in on casting sessions together and discussing ideas as a team. "We have similar tastes," Gergely says. "We don't always agree, but it's good we have each other to.
